HHSAA Wrestling State Championships: Final Round
The HHSAA held the final day of the Wrestling State Tournament on Saturday at the Neal Blaisdell Arena.
All the weight classes ending their season on center floor as all eyes on each match.

Moanalua came into the tournament trying to win the girls team results for the 4th straight season
The Girls 105 weight class opening up the Finals of the HHSAA State Wrestling tournament, with Pearl City wrestler Chloe Obuhanych defeating Kalani's Tia Hotema for the State Championship.
On the boys side, the 1st finals after the Girls 105, was the Boys 113 pound weight class.
Nanakuli's Analu Woode defeating Castle's Colt Kalaukoa for the State Title and Woode earned his 1st state title in his high school career.
Moanalua's Tiger Taam won the boys 132 pound weight class. With this win, Taam becomes the 1st OIA boys wrestler to win 4 straight state titles.

Carterville eclipses North Boone again at the IHSA state softball tournament
PEORIA, Ill. (WTVO/WQRF) — Carterville once again has stood between North Boone's softball team and a possible state championship. Last year, Carterville edged North Boone 1-0 in the 2A state championship game. Friday, Carterville defeated North Boone 5-1 in a 2A state semifinal jumped on North Boone for a pair of runs in the top of the second inning on a two-run double by Taryn Boone answered with its only run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. Kierya Robinson hit an RBI double that brought home Avarie added to its lead in the fourth inning scoring a run on Kendall McAlla's RBI double making it added another run when Ford's fielder choice grounder brought home a runner. Carterville scored again in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Lainey pitcher Caidence Phillips pitched all seven innings. She allowed only two hits, and she struck out seven North Boone batters. North Boone pitcher Courtney Troutt also pitched all seven innings. Clevan Thompson named head coach of the Savannah State men's basketball program
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Savannah State University (SSU) has officially named Clevan Thompson as the head coach of the men's basketball program. Thompson was appointed interim head coach on January 6th after former head coach Horace Broadnax retired midseason. Thompson now becomes the 12th head coach in the history of the program. 'We are pleased to officially announce Coach Thompson as the head coach of our men's basketball program,' Savannah State Director of Athletics Opio Mashariki said. 'He has been an integral part of the team's growth over the past couple of seasons and understands what it takes to build a winning culture. After leading the team to a championship last season, we are confident that he is the right person to lead our program forward.' Thompson coached the Tigers to a 13-6 mark since being named the interim coach, including an unblemished 7-0 mark at home. His team clinched the 2025 SIAC Men's Basketball TournamentChampionship and a berth in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament. 'I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to represent my alma mater, Savannah State University—a place that has played such a meaningful role in shaping the person I am today,' remarked Coach Thompson. 'It's an honor to give back to a community that has given so much to me.' Thompson is a graduate of Savannah State with a bachelor's degree in computer informationsystems, Thompson has been a part of the SSU men's basketball program since the 2023-2024 season. Savannah State University President Jermaine Whirl had this to say about the appointment: 'Coach Thompson exemplifies the excellence and leadership we strive for at Savannah State. His dedication to our students, his vision for the program, and his commitment to the values of our university make him an outstanding choice. We are proud to have one of our own leading the way.' Prior to returning to SSU, Thompson spent nearly two decades as the head boys' basketball coach at nearby Bethesda Academy, where he led the Blazers to twelve Final Four Appearances and two state championships. His teams claimed the 2012 Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) State Championship and the 2015 South Carolina Independent School (SCISA) Class AAA Title. 'I believe basketball is more than just a game—it's a powerful tool to inspire, teach, and mold young people into hardworking, resilient, and service-minded leaders. Liberty-Eylau falls in state title game
ROUND ROCK, Texas (KTAL/KMSS) — The Liberty-Eylau baseball team fell in the state title game 4-3 Thursday night against Corpus Christi London. The Leopards led 3-2 in the 5th inning but gave up a pair of runs in the top of the inning to give up the lead. Liberty-Eylau struggled at the plate, finishing the game with just two hits. The Leopards tied the game at one when Collin Evans grounded out in the 1st inning, scoring Eli Jarvis on the fielders choice. In the 2nd inning the Leopards would take the lead after a sacrifice fly that would score junior Maddax Moore. The Leopards weren't able to score a run the rest of the game, falling short of back-to-back state championships. Zach Fowler's crew would go on to finish the season with a record of 36-5.
