Aaron Rodgers officially signs one-year contract with Steelers worth over $13 million: report
Aaron Rodgers is officially headed to Pittsburgh next season. The four-time league MVP officially signed a contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday and will address the media on Tuesday for the first time following the team's first minicamp practice, the Steelers' senior director of communications Burt Lauten announced on X. Rodgers, 41, signed a one-year deal worth up to $19.5 million with incentives, which includes a $10 million guarantee, ESPN reported, citing sources. The news, first reported on Wednesday, ended months of speculation as to whether Rodgers would return for another NFL season or enter retirement after a failed two-year stint with the New York Jets. Rodgers addressed the rumors about his decision and his time with the Jets, during an appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show" in April. He said he had spoken to several teams, including New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll and Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell, whom he is in regular contact with. "I'm open to anything and attached to nothing. Retirement could still be a possibility, but right now my focus is and has been and will continue to be on my personal life … there's still conversations that are being had." Ultimately, the veteran NFL quarterback decided Pittsburgh would be where he would play his 21st season. Rodgers' arrival solves the Steelers' quarterback problems – at least for now – after Russell Wilson and Justin Fields both signed with New York Teams. Now Rodgers will battle Mason Rudolph, who signed a two-year contract in March, for the starting position. Aaron Rodgers signs reported 1-year, $13.65 million contract with Steelers, will wear No. 8 in Pittsburgh
Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are officially official. The veteran quarterback went to the Steelers' practice facility to sign a one-year deal with the team, the team announced Saturday. The contract is worth $13.65 million, with $10 million guaranteed, per multiple reports. With incentives, which include playing time and team performance, the contract is worth up to $19.5 million. Additionally, the Steelers announced that Rodgers will wear No. 8 on his jersey this season. Rodgers wore the same number during his two-year stint with the New York Jets, but wore No. 12 throughout his 18-year tenure with the Green Bay Packers. Rodgers, after a long offseason full of hints, finally ended the speculation earlier this week by agreeing to a one-year deal with Pittsburgh. The four-time NFL MVP will now put on a Steelers uniform as his career winds down, in a signing that left plenty of winners and losers. Advertisement Rodgers' move to Pittsburgh came after two disappointing years with the Jets. As New York went through a coaching and GM change this offseason, Rodgers was informed that the Jets were moving on without him. In the weeks since, Rodgers, who is 41, had been weighing whether to retire or to keep playing. However, despite Rodgers' mixed messages, the Steelers staff seemed optimistic about Rodgers joining in the offseason: Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin called a March visit from Rodgers "productive," while team president Art Rooney II said at spring owners meetings that things were "pointing in that direction" in terms of Rodgers signing with the team. Rodgers joins a Steelers squad that, despite a long streak of winning seasons, is in need of a boost out of general mediocrity. Pittsburgh gained receiver DK Metcalf in a trade this offseason, adding a major target for Rodgers before he'd even committed. Opposite Rodgers will be the Steelers' excellent defense, anchored by star edge rusher T.J. Watt, to boost the team's chances of success. Rodgers' commitment to the Steelers also sets up a handful of exciting matchups in the 2025 season, including an early matchup against the Jets, and another matchup against his other former team, the Packers.

Phillies Place Bryce Harper On IL And Call Up Otto Kemp
The Phillies have placed Bryce Harper on the IL. (Photo by) This is depressing for Phillies fans: First baseman Bryce Harper will head to the 10-day injured list due to right wrist inflammation. The move was announced Saturday before their game against the Pirates and is retroactive to Friday when Harper missed a 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh. 'He's just having trouble swinging,' Phillies manager Rob Thomson said Friday. 'So if it's affecting his swing, we're going to hold him off and get it right.' Harper, a two-time MVP and eight-time All-Star, is batting .258 with nine home runs, 34 RBIs and eight stolen bases in 57 games. He missed five games from May 26 to June 2 with a bruised right elbow after being hit by a pitch from Atlanta's Spencer Strider. Last season, Harper dealt with a right wrist issue but played through the pain in the lunate bone at the top of the wrist near the hand. On swings and misses, Harper would wince in pain. 'At the end of last season, it was pretty good pain,' Harper said in spring training. 'But there's nothing much that you could really do. It was kind of like a bone bruise into my hand, so I had to let it heal the best I could. Obviously, there's aches and pains for everybody, but that one kind of hit me a little bit harder last year.' The Phils will shift third baseman Alec Bohm to first while Harper is out, and utility infielder Edmundo Sosa will step in at third. The Harper injury comes at a rough time for the reeling Phils, who have dropped seven of its last eight games and seen its two-game lead in the NL East evaporate. Philly now trails the New York Mets by 2 1/2 games entering Saturday. Harper's replacement on the active roster will be infielder/outfielder Otto Kemp, who has torched Triple-A pitching this season, hitting .317 with 14 homers, 55 RBIs and 11 steals in 57 games. While Harper is out, Kemp could get time at first base, although his natural position is third base, which he could play if Bohm stays at first. The 25-year-old Kemp has never played in the MLB. Philly fans have clamored for Kemp's call-up since April when he was named International Player of the Month. Here's some Otto Kemp for you:
