Bombers to regain midfielder Caldwell for Swans clash
Essendon will regain Jye Caldwell from injury in a crucial boost to their midfield stocks ahead of facing Sydney.
Caldwell hasn't played since round three due to a hamstring strain but has been cleared to face the Swans at Marvel Stadium on Saturday.
The Bombers confirmed more midfield depth is on the way, with Darcy Parish (calf) a week away from returning to play.
Jade Gresham (adductor) should only miss a week while Jordan Ridley (eight weeks) will be sidelined for longer, with a timeline not yet available on Harrison Jones' return from a dislocated ankle.
Sydney have listed veteran on-baller Taylor Adams as a test to return from his hamstring injury against Essendon.
Star winger Errol Gulden (ankle) has started running and is five-to-seven weeks away, while Tom Papley (heel) is four-to-six weeks off a return.
Captain Callum Mills (foot) remains a "week to week" proposition.
Gold Coast have lost important defender Lachie Weller for six weeks with a hamstring injury, but the Suns are optimistic Ben Long (hamstring) will return against the Western Bulldogs in Darwin.
The Brisbane Lions expect to regain young gun Logan Morris (calf) and Kai Lohmann (shoulder) against North Melbourne, but Sam Day (hamstring) will be out for six weeks.
North defender Miller Bergman will miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL during a VFL game on the weekend, but the Kangaroos expect to regain George Wardlaw from a corked thigh for Sunday's game in Hobart.
GWS trio Toby Bedford (eye), Kieren Briggs (ankle) and Jake Riccardi (hand) all have to prove their availability this week to face Geelong.
Hawthorn will be without midfielder Cam Mackenzie for up to two weeks with a broken hand.
The Hawks will take a cautious approach to Jack Scrimshaw's second concussion this year, ruling him out of facing Melbourne.
But Karl Amon (concussion) is due to return.

Australian punter Michael Dickson has signed a mammoth new contract with the Seattle Seahawks
His coach described him as a 'weapon' and NFL punter Michael Dickson has elevated himself among Australia's highest-earning sportspeople after signing a monster $25m contract extension with the 29-year-old declaring he's 'only half way' into his career. Dickson, already the highest paid punter in the NFL, cemented that position with a new four-year-deal which is worth $25m, including nearly $16m guaranteed. Seven years into his career, Dickson, who eyed-off an AFL career before taking up punting, is adamant there's much more to come. 'It's crazy, because I still feel like I just came through the doors here the other day,' he said. 'But when you think back and think about every season and every different teammate you've had and all the memories you've created along the way, it has been quite a long time. But I don't even feel like I'm halfway yet; it's going to be a long career.' Dickson, had a year left on his previous deal and is now signed through the 2029 season, earning huge plaudits from Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald. 'Dicko is a premier punter in the league, so hopefully we showed that with the numbers involved,' said. 'But he's a weapon for us. The stats show it. The film shows it. He's got a great attitude about him, great personality. Guys love him. Yeah, really excited to have him here for the long haul.' Dickson earned first-team All-Pro and Pro-Bowl honours as a rookie, and has established himself as one of the league's best punters over the past seven seasons. His deal is a tad short of fellow Aussie Jordan Mailata's $100m contract with the Philadelphia Eagles, but puts Dickson in rare air for punters. 'It's meant a lot,' Dickson said after signing Tuesday morning. 'You see a lot of people come through the building, and I've just been super grateful since my first year here just to wear this logo and to play in the NFL. So I've really made it a point of mine to give it everything I can in every aspect of my life, whether it's food, sleep, hydration, training, looking after my body, trying to do everything I can to make sure my mind is on point for this game, the next game and for as long as I can go. ' I really want to get the most out of my ability and my time here, and I never want to take it for granted at all.'

Former NBA star Cousins booted from Puerto Rico league
Former NBA All-Star DeMarcus Cousins was suspended by a Puerto Rico basketball league and had his contract rescinded after igniting a brawl. The Baloncesto Superior Nacional League also fined Cousins $US4250 ($A6530), and he could be subject to another fine of $5570 ($A8560), according to the league. The incident occurred on Monday when Cousins was playing on the road for the Guaynabo Mets. "As an organisation, we strongly condemn any form of violence or provocation, whether on or off the field. Safety, respect and sportsmanship are non-negotiable values for this franchise," the Mets said in a news release. The situation began with Cousins exchanging words with a fan, before he grabbed his crotch while walking towards the courtside seats. Cousins then grabbed the fan's arm as things quickly escalated. Teammates tried to pull Cousins away and other fans began to hurl insults at the American. After being ejected, Cousins was doused by liquids as he left the floor. Security tackled him at one point to hold him back from trying to get into the stands. Cousins, 34, was averaging 18.2 points and 9.0 rebounds while playing in the top pro basketball league in Puerto Rico for the second time. He also played in the league in 2023. He hasn't played in the NBA since the 2021-22 season. Cousins was a four-time All-Star in 11 seasons, but his career was derailed by two major injuries. In January 2018, he sustained an achilles tendon injury while playing with the New Orleans Pelicans. After returning to play 30 games for the Golden State Warriors the following season, he tore the ACL in his left knee in August 2019 as a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and missed the entire season. Cousins played for seven NBA teams, his longest tenure with the Sacramento Kings from 2010-17. He finished third in Rookie of the Year balloting in 2011 after being the fifth overall pick out of Kentucky. Overall, Cousins averaged 19.6 points and 10.2 rebounds in 654 NBA games (561 starts).
