Cadillac Secures First-Ever Pole for 24 Hours of Le Mans

The latest car news, reviews, and features. Team Jota's Alex Lynn drove his No. 12 Cadillac Hypercar to the automaker's first-ever pole position for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. However, the British privateer team didn't stop there, as the No. 38 sister car secured the second place on the starting grid, giving Cadillac a historic front-row lockout for next weekend's endurance race. Despite a strong performance by the Cadillac Whelen No. 311 car in the first round of qualifying, Jack Aitken could only secure eighth place, while the No. 101 of Wayne Taylor Racing will start 14th. Even with the disparity between starting positions, all Cadillacs looked strong during different moments of qualifying and should put up a good fight once the race gets underway. After suffering a May from hell due to a cheating scandal at the Indy 500, Penske got off to a poor start at Le Mans due to the disqualification of the No. 6 Porsche for being underweight. That car will start at the back of the Hypercar grid, though the No. 5 will start third from the grid thanks to an impressive performance by Julien Andlauer. The No. 5 actually lost its right-rear wheel during the session, but Andlauer had set a good-enough lap time to retain his third place. Getty Perhaps the biggest surprise of the day was by the Ferrari team, which only managed to qualify in seventh and 11th positions. Having won the race two years in a row, Ferrari is the favorite to do so again, but it will have its work cut out due to its poor qualifying. Cadillac has been building momentum over the last two years, and all of its effort seems to be paying off. In 2023, for its return to Le Mans after 21 years, it managed to finish third place overall, but it missed the podium by one place last year. With such a strong performance by Jota today, it certainly makes us believe that the American automaker has what it takes to win the most prestigious endurance race in the world next week. Got a tip? Used Car Prices Are Spiking, Except For EVs

Everything is getting more expensive, and that includes used cars. Prices spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic and only started to fall last year. However, new data indicates used car prices are definitely beginning to creep back up . The average one- to five-year-old used vehicle sold for $32,317 last month. That's up 2.0 percent compared to May 2024, or $630 on average, according to the new iSeeCars report. That might not seem like much, but average used car prices increased by 1.0 percent and 1.8 percent in March and April, respectively, indicating an upward trend after a year of steady decreases. The average used car sold for $29,651 in December 2024. Segment Ave. May 2025 Price $ Difference YoY % Difference YoY Overall Used Cars $32,317 $630 2.0% Trucks $39,880 $633 1.7% SUVs $32,880 $1,354 4.3% Passenger Cars/Minivans $27,292 -$555 -2.0% Hybrids $30,702 $538 1.8% EVs $31,110 -$2,993 -8.8% However, used electric vehicle prices are still struggling. They were down 8.8 percent last month compared to May 2024, selling for an average of $31,110, or $2,993 less than before. That's a drastic difference compared to the overall used segment, but an improvement compared to the nearly 30 percent price drop that used EVs experienced last June. Despite that, used EV prices have been above $31,000 since January, according to iSeeCars' data, up from a recent low of $27,345 six months ago. Tesla Price Struggle Leading the vehicles with the largest year-over-year price drops are a pair of Teslas—the Model S and Model Y. They experienced price drops of 16.0 percent and 14.2 percent, respectively, selling for an average of $45,503 and $29,786 in May. The Model X and Model 3 also made the top ten, with Tesla accounting for four of the five EVs on the list. Another EV is the Porsche Taycan , with prices down 12.7 percent last month. Big Price Jumps With used car prices spiking, some models saw bigger increases compared to others last month. Prices for the BMW 4 Series were up nearly 20 percent in May, with examples selling for $6,649 more than they did in May 2024. Infiniti QX60 prices also increased by 16.5 percent. Porsche 718 Boxster prices increased by 15.7 percent, while Cayman prices jumped by 15.7 percent. Used Chevrolet Trax prices also rose. They're up 15.5 percent, with buyers paying around $2,600 more than a year ago. This is likely a result of increased demand for cheap, affordable vehicles , a trend that's appearing across the industry even as prices continue to rise. The Ford Mustang GTD Is Even More Expensive Than We Thought

Ford is finally preparing to launch the Mustang GTD. It's one of the wildest Mustangs ever from the automaker, and it's got a price tag to match. The 2025 Mustang GTD officially starts at $327,960, which is a bit more than the $300,000 Ford predicted when it announced the car nearly two years ago. That number crept up to $325,00 last year when Ford released additional details. The price includes a $5,500 destination fee and a $3,700 gas guzzler tax, as the GTD is a thirsty beast. The car's Monroney says it gets 12 miles per gallon combined, 17 mpg on the highway, and 10 mpg in the city. The base price of the car alone is $318,760—the most of any Mustang, ever. But this is not your grandpa's pony car. What Mustang GTD Buyers Get for $327,000 Under the hood is a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine producing 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet of torque. But that's only part of the story. This Mustang is a road-legal version of Ford's GT3 race car, featuring semi-active rear inboard pushrod suspension (which is visible through the rear bulkhead), a carbon-fiber driveshaft, and an eight-speed, dual-clutch transaxle gearbox. The Mustang has a near-perfect 50-50 weight balance, with Ford using a ton of carbon fiber to keep the weight down. Despite it being a road-legal version of a race car, the cabin features a mix of suede, carbon fiber, and leather, and an optional package adds titanium paddles, a titanium shifter, and more. Sadly, we don't know all the available options or how much they'll cost. Our first look at the GTD's price tag and window sticker comes from an owner who posted it to Facebook , but they didn't add a lot of extras. The red brake calipers are $1,500, while the exposed carbon roof costs $10,000, bringing the total to $339,460. We have no idea how high the Mustang GTD price can reach, but Ford has made a big deal about buyers fighting over exclusive exterior colors . That's likely just the start of the available upgrades. There's also the Mustang GTD Spirit of America , a special edition version that, as of now, has no price tag. This has us wondering: Is a $400,000 Ford Mustang possible? It sure seems so.
