O'Mahony, Cane and Murray named in Barbarians squad
Ireland greats Peter O'Mahony and Conor Murray and former New Zealand captain Sam Cane have been named in the Barbarians squad for next month's fixture against South Africa. Flanker O'Mahony and scrum-half Murray retired from international rugby following this year's Six Nations after decorated careers in green, while Cane ended his time with the All Blacks at the end of 2024. The Irish duo both won five Six Nations titles and represented the British and Irish Lions during their Test careers.Cane, also a flanker, earned 104 New Zealand caps and helped his country win the 2015 World Cup. However, he became the first male player in World Cup history to be sent off in a final during the All Blacks' defeat by South Africa at the 2023 tournament. The Barbarians take on back-to-back world champions South Africa in Cape Town on 28 June.
Baa-Baas head coach Robbie Deans says his squad will feature a "blend of high-profile global international stars, and other standout performers from European clubs, Super Rugby and the Japanese league". "Peter and Conor have been an integral part of the Irish team for nearly 15 years and both have amassed over hundred caps for their country and represented the British & Irish Lions on a number of tours," said Deans. "Sam is also a Test centurion, played in the last three Rugby World Cups and captained the All Blacks from 2020-2023."All three players experience and leadership qualities will be invaluable during the week both on and off the field and I am delighted they have agreed to play for the Barbarians in this historic game."
Old foes O'Mahony and Cane to play together
O'Mahony and Cane are poised to line out in the same back row after the pair were involved in a verbal spat during Ireland's win over the All Blacks in Dunedin in 2022.It happened as tempers flared after O'Mahony helped hold the ball up over the line to deny the All Blacks a late try and help Ireland secure their first ever win in New Zealand. Cane later shrugged off the altercation, saying: "No, it's just good rugby banter, it's all part of the game." I don't mind it. It's good stuff."Cane went on to inspire New Zealand to a World Cup quarter-final win over Ireland in Paris in 2023, but insisted he did not use his history with O'Mahony as extra motivation."We know they've got a few players who like to try to get under your skin," he said."We went into the game knowing they'd be like that but we were really focused on just sticking to our jobs."

Footy legend Robert DiPierdomenico reveals the real story behind viral video of him going berserk in a nightclub with famous DJ
Footy icon Robert DiPierdomenico has opened up about what happened on the night he was filmed dancing like a much younger man in a nightclub clip that has gone viral among AFL fans. The footage shows the 67-year-old tearing up the dance floor with his shirt unbuttoned halfway to his navel as he's filmed by other revellers before he hugs the DJ who's performing at the venue. Footy supporters have gone wild for the footage, leaving comments like 'this video is so iconic', 'this is 10/10' and 'the man is a national treasure'. Now the five-time premiership champion and Brownlow Medal winner has revealed what prompted the wild video, which featured famous Aussie DJ Dom Dolla spinning the decks at one of Greece's most famous islands. 'I was in Mykonos, Dom was playing in Mykonos and found out I was there,' DiPierdomenico explained. 'He asked me to come and play.' AFL icon Robert DiPierdomenico has revealed what happened on the night he was filmed dancing with a famous Aussie DJ in a Greek club (pictured) The 67-year-old (pictured left) was called a 'national treasure' as footy fans lapped up the wild footage of his big night out A quick look at Instagram shows he and his girlfriend Rebecca visited the famous European holiday destination in August last year, with the footy great's partner referring to 'vibrant parties that never end' during their vacation. 'Dipper' is famed for his exuberant personality and has previously talked about how he and his Hawthorn teammates would party in nightclubs until 2am during his playing days. However, life hasn't been too kind to the Hawthorn great in recent times. In January this year his son Dylan was jailed after admitting to 71 instances of fraud as he stole more than $140,000 from a former employer to fund his gambling addiction. During Dylan's case the court heard that his father played down the crime by saying 'it was just money'. DiPierdomenico - who split from his wife Cheryl in 2021 - has also suffered from serious health problems in recent years. A urinary problem that required surgery saw him visiting the bathroom up to 40 times a day and even forced him to wear adult nappies. DiPierdomenico revealed top DJ Dom Dolla (pictured) found out he was holidaying on the Greek island of Mykonos and asked him to come to his show 'Dipper' won five premierships and the Brownlow Medal during his time with Hawthorn 'I was going to the bathroom maybe four or five times and then it went to 10 or 12 times and then 30 or 40 and I did nothing about it,' he admitted in 2023. 'And then, of course, the pain started to come and then I had my operation and now I am 95 per cent back to where I was. 'Incontinence is a big thing in Australia, so I thought I'd put my hand up and let you know that I'm one of those 1.5 million men who suffer from it, but through a few exercises, I'm back - I'm back big-time.' In February this year DiPierdomenico opened up about another health problem that caused him severe pain, even compared to the long list of serious injuries he suffered during his 240-game career. 'Compared to the pain of many of my sporting injuries, shingles was relentless. It put me out of action for nine days,' he said. 'It was horrible to experience personally, and I know some of my loved ones, like my partner and my mum, have also experienced the pain and discomfort of shingles.' Dipper remains heavily involved with Hawthorn and appeared at a club fundraiser alongside fellow team legends Peter Knights and Peter Hudson last week.

An Olympics-style operation and the major difference between UK and US coverage: INSIDE TENNIS goes behind the scenes with TNT Sports at the French Open
It is towards the end of my peek behind the curtain when we duck into a bunker-type room, completely dark other than thousands of dials, switches and buttons - and the light coming from an enormous wall of screens. Bank on bank of monitors showing courts, crowds, backstage shots and interviews. A crew member remarks: 'That's what covering 18 courts, in 19 languages, in 49 countries looks like.' Mail Sport has gone behind the scenes on the gargantuan broadcasting operation that is TNT Sport at the French Open 2025.

The GAA Social Johnny Glynn. Miscarriages, IVF, hope. Winning All-Irelands with Galway and now New York. Pure love
In one of the most powerful and impactful episodes of the GAA Social, Johnny Glynn & Thomas Niblock lift the lid on their experiences of multiple miscarriages. Johnny and his wife Serena, along with Kirstie and Thomas have travelled similar paths. It's difficult. This is a male perspective. One very rarely, told publicly. Why is that? Johnny has just captained his county to an All-Ireland in Croke Park. On Thursday before the final, he found out their last attempt at IVF, failed. It's always a challenge. Oisin said it was a 'privilege' to listen in as two men chat honestly and openly about fertility, pregnancy, loss and ectopic ruptures. In usual GAA Social style, there's loads of light moments- including the regime Oisin maintained so he could have Freya- his baby girl. In perhaps the biggest reveal of human biology in 100 years, Oisin admits he knows how to conceive girls, rather than boys? 9 months later Freya McConville arrived to melt her daddy's heart. The first half of this podcast however shows what the GAA really means, especially in New York. The effort, struggle and the drive to be better. They're on the brink of something special and a large reason for the success, on and off the field, is Johnny Glynn. We know you'll agree, he is utterly inspiring and the best of us. The only inter-county player who is vice-chair of his county board and a man Intune with Ireland, the GAA, his family and his wonderful wife Serena. The GAA Social with Galway hurling, and New York All-Ireland winner, Johnny Glynn
