The visit of Commerce Secretary Sunil Barthwal to the Netherlands has laid the groundwork for setting up a green and digital corridor between the Port of Rotterdam and Indian ports for the export of green hydrogen to Europe, an official statement said on Tuesday. The commerce ministry said that huge opportunities are there for enhancing cooperation between Indian ports and the Netherlands' Port of Rotterdam in areas such as digitalisation, green shipping, and logistics optimisation, to boost bilateral trade. During the visit, Barthwal held discussions in this regard with the CEO of the Port of Rotterdam authority Boudewijn Siemon.
The Rotterdam port is Europe's largest and one of the world's most advanced ports.
Both sides discussed opportunities in the areas including knowledge sharing, technology transfer, and sustainable port management practices.
In the meeting, Barthwal highlighted the potential for collaboration in modernising Indian ports, aligning with India's Maritime Vision 2030, which aims to enhance port capacity and logistics efficiency.
Both sides expressed interest in deepening ties through joint initiatives in port digitalisation, green shipping, and logistics optimisation, which are critical to boosting bilateral trade flows, the commerce ministry said. "The visit laid the groundwork for setting up of a Green and Digital Corridor between the Port of Rotterdam and Indian ports like the Deendayal Port Authority Kandla, and export of Green Hydrogen and carriers like Ammonia and Methanol from India to Europe, with the Port of Rotterdam acting as a gateway to Europe," it said. He also met ASML, a global leader in photolithography systems for the semiconductor industry, CEO Christophe Fouquet, and discussed deepening India-Netherlands cooperation in the sector. "The discussions focused on leveraging ASML's expertise to support India's ambitions to become a global semiconductor manufacturing hub," it added. The secretary also visited Croatia last week and held deliberations with Zdenko LuciA, State Secretary for Foreign Trade and Development, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, and Ivo MilatiA, State Secretary, Ministry of Economy.
The two sides discussed the progress of talks for the proposed free trade agreement between India and the European Union.

Stocks to buy under ₹100: Experts recommend five shares to buy today — 12 June 2025

Stocks to buy under ₹ 100: The Indian stock market continued to trade volatile for the sixth straight session on Wednesday. The Nifty 50 index ended higher for the sixth straight session and finished at 25,141. The BSE Sensex gained 123 points and closed at 82,515, while the Bank Nifty index went off 169 points and closed at 56,459. Sectorally, oil & gas, IT, and pharma were the major gainers, demonstrating strength even in a consolidating market. However, Nifty PSU Banks, FMCG, and metal sectors ended the day in the red. In a change from recent trends, the Nifty Mid-cap and Small-cap indices broke their winning streak today. The Nifty Mid-cap 100 Index fell by 0.49%, while the Nifty Small-cap 100 Index went down by 0.53%. However, market breadth remained decisively positive, with advancing stocks significantly outpacing declining ones, as indicated by a BSE advance-decline ratio of 1.24. On the outlook of the Indian stock market today, Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Research — Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal, said, "Looking ahead, market participants will closely track key economic data points, with US CPI data released on Wednesday, followed by the UK GDP print and India's CPI inflation reading, due on Thursday. Positive developments on the US-China trade front and the India-EU FTA could influence sentiment and set the tone for near-term market direction." Speaking on the outlook of the Nifty 50 today, Shiju Kuthupalakkal, Senior Manager of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher, said, "The Nifty 50 index, after consolidating since the last two days, witnessed a volatile session with the initial half progressed ahead to scale the 25,200 zones while post-lunch session succumbed to profit booking to end near the 25,150 level with sentiment slightly turning cautious. The index has the 25,000 zones as the near-term support, while on the upside, the 25,500 level can be expected in the coming sessions once there is a breach above the hurdle of 25,200 levels, with overall bias maintained strong." "The Bank Nifty index has witnessed another session of profit booking to slip further from the peak made near the 57,000 zone, and with the 55,800 to 56,000 band maintained as the important support from the current level, the index is still in the strong territory but would need a decisive breach above the 57,000 level to anticipate for fresh upward move in the coming days to maintain the positive bias intact," Shiju Kuthupalakkal said. Regarding stocks to buy today, market experts Vaishali Parekh, Vice President of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher; Mahesh M Ojha, AVP—Research at Hensex Securities; Sugandha Sachdeva, Founder of SS WealthStreet; and Anshil Jain, Head of Research at Lakshmishree Investment and Securities, recommended these five intraday stocks: Lloyds Enterprises, NMDC Steel, Sterlite Technologies, Fedders Holding, and Ugar Sugar Works. 1] Lloyds Enterprises: Buy at ₹ 73, Target ₹ 83, Stop Loss ₹ 70. 2] NMDC Steel: Buy at ₹ 40 to ₹ 41, Targets ₹ 42.40, ₹ 43.80, ₹ 46, Stop Loss ₹ 38.80; and 3] Sterlite Technologies: Buy at ₹ 76.50 to ₹ 77, Targets ₹ 78.50, ₹ 80, ₹ 82, ₹ 85, Stop Loss ₹ 74.60. 4] Fedders Holding: Buy at ₹ 50, Targets ₹ 53, ₹ 54.80, Stop Loss ₹ 48.40. 5] Ugar Sugar Works: Buy at ₹ 51, Target ₹ 58, Stop Loss ₹ 48 (Closing Basis).

Australian shares flat as mining losses counter banks, energy boost

June 12 (Reuters) - Australian shares were largely unchanged on Thursday, as miners partially offset strong performances in banks and energy stocks, while U.S. President Donald Trump's hint at extending the trade negotiation deadline eased concerns over imminent tariff hikes. The S&P/ASX 200 index held its ground at 8,593 points, as of 0108 GMT. The benchmark on Wednesday touched a record-closing high of 8,592.1 points. Overnight, Trump signalled openness to extending the July 8 deadline for trade talks before higher U.S. tariffs take effect, though he expressed doubt that an extension would be necessary. China and the United States, Australia's top export partners, reached a framework deal, boosting investor optimism for a lasting resolution between the two superpowers and easing fears of further market disruption. However, the lack of specific terms leaves the possibility of future tariff disputes. Chinese export-reliant miners slipped 0.4%, set for their weakest session since June 2, if current momentum holds. Mining heavyweights BHP, Rio Tinto and Fortescue dropped between 0.9% and 2.4%. Bucking the sombre trend, energy firms climbed 1.4% after oil prices hit a two-month high. The sub-index is on track for its fourth consecutive session of gains. Index majors Woodside and Santos advanced 1.5% and 0.8%, respectively. Financials rose 0.2%, with the "Big Four" banks climbing between 0.1% and 0.4%. Gold stocks tracked bullion prices higher, climbing nearly 2%. Shares of metals miner Northern Star Resources gained about 1%. Among corporate news, Qantas emerged as one of the top performers in the benchmark index, up 4.3%, a day after the carrier announced the closure of Singapore-based budget airline Jetstar Asia due to rising costs and competition. In other news, the Australian defence minister expressed confidence in the AUKUS submarine pact, despite the Trump administration launching a formal review of the agreement. New Zealand's benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index edged 0.1% lower to 12,592.86 points. (Reporting by Kumar Tanishk and Sneha Kumar in Bengaluru; Editing by Sherry Jacob-Phillips)
