Title: Smith confident Glasgow peaking at right time for semi-final

Glasgow Warriors head coach Franco Smith believes his side have put their recent heavy European defeat against Leinster behind them as they return to Dublin to face the favourites in the URC semi-finals on Saturday.
Warriors were whitewashed 52-0 in their Champions Cup quarter-final but Smith has consigned that to history and says his side are peaking at the right time, as planned, despite being underdogs.
"I think that's something of the past," he said. "Different competition. We've learned from it and we've moved on.
"We've planned from the first day of pre-season how we want to look and how you want to shape up in the final [games].
"We've handled the season well. We've managed to get some of our players back from injury and we allowed them back into the environment at the right time and hopefully we're in a good place, now that we're going to the semi."
Smith knows his reigning champions face a stiff test to reach back-to-back finals, citing the players' mindset as key.
"It's everything and I think every game is about the mindset," he said.
"The difficulty is to maintain that for 39 weeks in the year. The mindset and approach and attitude in a final game is obviously the main ingredient.
"We've got to be on top of our game. They've got a world-class team, they've proven it in the Test match arena, they've proven it in this competition. It's a class outfit.
"It's going to be a tough challenge. The only way we're going to get better and keep on growing and progressing is if we challenge ourselves to be the best version of ourselves."

Title: Fatigue not an issue for Leinster - Nienaber
Content: Leinster v Glasgow Warriors (14:45 BST)
For much of the Leinster squad, the past month has stirred a broad spectrum of emotions.
There was the agony of an Investec Champions Cup semi-final loss at home to Northampton, denying the province a shot at redemption after a hat-trick of final defeats in the previous three seasons.
Just a few days later, the bulk of the squad were confronted with the whirlwind that is British and Irish Lions squad announcement day.
For most of them, it was good news, but for those who missed out it was another bitter pill so soon after their Champions Cup demise.
Jacques Nienaber - under whom the team's defence has thrived - does not sense depleted levels of energy or focus within the group.
"No, not at all," said the 52-year-old South African.
"We're cracking on. It's a privilege for any team to be involved in the knock-out stages.
"It's a privilege for us definitely to be testing ourselves against Glasgow this weekend, the reigning champions, who obviously understand how to play knock-out games if you look at what they did last year. It's a privilege to test ourselves against a quality side like that."

Title: Glasgow look to bust Aviva curse

If Glasgow are to advance to a second successive URC final they'll have to do something no Scottish side - club or international - has ever done - win at the Aviva Stadium.
This place has been a graveyard for Scottish sides down the years, not least when Leinster crushed Warriors 52-0 here in the Champions Cup quarter-final eight weeks ago.
A shadow Glasgow side put up a much sterner test when going down 13-5 in the URC three weeks ago, and after a stirring showing in dispatching the Stormers in the quarter-finals last week, there's a sense that Warriors are starting to put it together at the right time once again.
Leinster on the other hand are having a bit of a wobble after their shock Champions Cup semi-final defeat to Northampton, and while they undoubtedly remain strong favourites, this match is not the mismatch it may have looked a few short weeks ago.

Ireland full-back Hugo Keenan will miss today's game in what is a blow to Leo Cullen's men.

Title: Welcome to the Aviva Stadium
Content: Leinster v Glasgow Warriors (14:45 BST)
Hello and welcome to our coverage of the first United Rugby Championship semi-final of the day as Leinster host Glasgow Warriors.
Franco Smith's men have already been put to the sword twice here in as many months but the defending champions arrive in Dublin full of confidence after their 36-18 quarter-final victory over the Stormers.
Leinster, meanwhile, will be hoping it is second time lucky in a semi-final here after their shock defeat to Northampton in the Champions Cup last four just 35 days ago. They are back at the Aviva today a week after defeating the Scarlets 33-21 on the same ground.
Can Leo Cullen's men make their first final since winning in 2021 or will the Warriors win in the Irish capital for the first time in six years and earn a spot in a second consecutive final in South Africa?
It is sure to be a thriller. Thank you for joining us.

England face Thomas Tuchel dressing down after ‘playing with fire'

England players face a dressing down from head coach Thomas Tuchel after he accused them of 'playing with fire' and promised to spell out exactly what is expected from his squad in a team meeting on Sunday. Tuchel insisted that he had no problem with his team being booed at half-time and full-time of the laboured 1-0 World Cup qualifying victory over minnows Andorra. Captain Harry Kane scored the winning goal, but Tuchel did not try to put a positive spin on the performance or the result. 'I didn't like the attitude, how we ended the game,' said Tuchel. 'I liked the attitude, how we started, the first 25 minutes, but I didn't like the last 25, 30. I think we lacked the seriousness and the urgency that is needed in a World Cup qualifier. I think we played with fire. I didn't like the attitude in the end. I didn't like the body language. It was not what the occasion needed. 'I think in the end, we played with fire, honestly. I felt it almost like in a cup game where the favourite does not smell the danger. I didn't feel a team that was aware it was only 1-0 in a World Cup qualifier. We were not happy with ourselves. Step by step the energy dropped when we needed exactly the opposite. But we couldn't deliver and so we got away with a win. 'I think we still deserved the win and we've got three wins and three clean sheets. OK, we will not stop encouraging them and make clear after we have a proper look at the match what we want from them. We need to look at it in detail and do better on Tuesday (against Senegal).' 'England fans booing is OK' The 8,000 travelling England fans inside Espanyol's RCDE Stadium in Barcelona booed Tuchel's team off at half-time, when the game was goalless, and also booed at full-time following the narrow victory. Asked about the booing, Tuchel said: 'The booing is OK. First of all, the support was amazing, unbelievable, it created a fantastic atmosphere for a match like this. When I came out, straightaway I was excited, they made it a very special atmosphere. 'They were underwhelmed and not happy with our performance, especially with how we ended the first half. I don't think we can blame them for that. We cannot even blame them for how we ended the match. The opposite, I thought they were fantastic for the whole match.' England's narrow victory meant Tuchel became the first Three Lions manager to start with three wins without conceding a goal, but the German took little consolation from that. He also refused to use the fact that the Andorra game came at the end of a long club season for his players as an excuse. 'The (international) window is the window so no excuses or nothing,' said Tuchel. 'The clubs don't like the window and even for the national teams, it's not an easy window because they come from holiday or a long season. But still, I think we can and have to do better over the 90 minutes. 'We played 25 minutes where I had the feeling that it was a matter of time before we scored where we created the chances. But we lost this momentum completely and the last 20 minutes of the first half. We started OK, maybe, in the second half but we lost this momentum again. 'We created an xG of three and underperformed with one goal, which is very unusual in a match like this where you usually overperform an xG. Normally if you create three, you score five, if you create two, you score four, by individual quality and finishing. But with a lack of energy and a lack of quality in these moments, at the end of both halves, I think it's the most honest thing to admit it. We expected more from us. We can deliver more. We will try to take this as a learning (process) and do better as quickly as possible.'

Coco Gauff responds to Aryna Sabalenka over ‘not fair' French Open final claim

Coco Gauff said Aryna Sabalenka 's suggestion that she would have lost the French Open final to Iga Swiatek was 'not fair' after the American won her first Roland Garros title by beating the World No 1. In difficult, windy conditions, Gauff fought from a set down to defeat Sabalenka 6-7 6-2 6-2 and win her second grand slam title on the Paris clay. However, a disgruntled Sabalenka criticised her own performance, in which she made 70 unforced errors, and said 'it was the worst final I have ever played'. Sabalenka had defeated Swiatek in the semi-finals, to end the Pole's 26-match winning run at Roland Garros, but could not get the job done as she lost to Gauff for her second grand slam final defeat in a row. 'That hurts,' Sabalenka said. 'Especially when you've been playing really great tennis during the whole week, when you've been playing against a lot of tough opponents, Olympic champion [Qinwen Zheng], Iga and then you go out, and you play really bad. 'Like I think Iga - if Iga would [have] won [against me] another day, I think she would go out today and she would get the win. It just hurts. Honestly hurts. I've been playing really well, and then in the last match, go out there and perform like I did, that's hurt.' To add to an extraordinary press conference, Sabalenka added: 'She was hitting the ball from the frame. Somehow magically the ball lands in the court. It felt like a joke, honestly, like somebody from above was there laughing, like, 'let's see if you can handle this'.' Gauff said that while she respected both Sabalenka and Swiatek, she could not agree with Sabalenka's assessment and said that she did a better job of dealing with the conditions. 'I mean, I don't agree with that,' Gauff replied as she appeared at her press conference next to the French Open trophy. 'I'm here sitting here. 'No shade to Iga or anything, but last time I played her I won in straight sets. I don't think that's a fair thing to say, because anything can really happen. 'The way Aryna was playing the last few weeks, she was the favourite to win. So I think she was the best person that I could have played in the final. 'Her being No. 1 in the world was the best person to play, so I think I got the hardest matchup just if you go off stats alone.' Gauff explained how she adjusted her game and handled the conditions to add to her 2023 US Open triumph, which also came against Sabalenka. 'It was super tough when I walked on the court and felt the wind because we warmed up with the roof closed,' Gauff said. 'I was, like, 'this is going to be a tough day'. 'I knew it was just going to be about willpower and mental. It really came down to the last few points, but overall I'm just really happy with the fight that I managed today. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job done, and that's all that matters.'
