Saudi Arabia issues new travel advisory for Umrah visa holders
Listen to article
Saudi Arabia has issued a new travel advisory restricting entry for Umrah visa holders after the 15th day of the Islamic month of Shawwal, according to a directive circulated by Saudi aviation authorities.
The updated guidance, released on Sunday, instructs all airlines operating in and out of the Kingdom to strictly comply with the new rule.
Failure to do so could result in legal action against both the carrier and the traveller, Saudi Civil Aviation officials warned.
The advisory specifies that passengers holding Umrah visas must not be permitted to board flights to Saudi Arabia beyond 15 Shawwal of each Islamic calendar year.
This measure is reportedly aimed at regulating the flow of pilgrims and ensuring orderly arrangements ahead of the Hajj season.
'Airlines must not issue boarding passes to Umrah visa holders attempting to travel after this date,' the Saudi aviation notice said. 'Violations will be addressed under Saudi Civil Aviation Law.'
The decision underscores the Kingdom's efforts to streamline religious travel and manage operational load across its major airports during high-volume months.
Airlines have been instructed to update their systems and notify travel agents accordingly. Saudi officials added that the directive would be reviewed annually based on operational needs and seasonal planning.
