Goalkeeper commits to new long-term deal with Swindon
Swindon Town have confirmed that goalkeeper Connor Ripley will be remaining at the club next season after signing a new two-year deal. The pursuit to keep the bulk of the core of last season's squad continues as Swindon wrap up the deal for their number one goalkeeper until 2027. Advertisement Ripley arrived on the final day of the winter transfer window from Port Vale, taking over his existing contract, which ran until the end of the season. The 32-year-old was an instant hit at Swindon, keeping five clean sheets in his 14 appearances and adding a level of calm and command of his box which had been lacking prior to his arrival. Making no secret of his hope to stay on at Swindon, Ripley has committed to another two seasons at Swindon and has made it so that there will be no nerves over the plan in goal this summer. Upon signing his new deal, Ripley said: 'It all happened pretty quickly, literally a few days after the season finished, I had a call off the manager saying he wanted to get something done and I was keen to do that as well. 'There are a lot of things which have gone on in my career, and I have never really ventured down South. 'It has surprised me in a way, and in another it hasn't. Playing always makes me happy, and playing well makes me even happier.' There had been some concern that the goalkeeper's family based in the North could be a barrier to the deal, but he was able to work out a plan which has enabled him to stick around. 'We needed to get some things sorted up North with my kids, myself, and Chelsea, and we have got that done. It was not that hard to sign the deal. 'She [Ripley's partner] is an amazing person, an amazing partner, and an amazing mum. I can't speak any more highly of her. 'She has been incredible since she has been in my life, and she has made this so much smoother than it could have been. 'I am very grateful for what she does for me and our family, and it is great that when I came to her and said Swindon offered me a deal, she sat down with me and we talked about it. 'I think it was literally a five-minute talk when I told her why I wanted to stay, and all she said was that she has felt so welcomed by the club and sees how much I enjoy it here.'

Joining Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia this summer could be Jadon Sancho.
