Seahawks all-time record vs NFC North: updated for 2025
Seahawks all-time record vs NFC North: updated for 2025 For the past two years, we at Seahawks Wire have been tracking the Seattle Seahawks' all-time records against every team in the NFL. It is important, we feel, to keep an updated log of Seattle's history and how they stack up with other squads in the league. We are resuming this ongoing series with updated records headed into the 2025 season. So far in this series, we have done we have the NFC West, NFC South, and the AFC South. The two southern divisions are who the Seahawks are paired with in 2025. But for this latest installment, we will head back to the NFC... specifically the NFC North. Seattle faced this division in 2024, making these teams in need of updating the all-time series. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 12-8 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 12-6 : Seattle leads the series 12-6 Postseason: Chicago is 2-0 over Seattle Longest win streak: the Seahawks won four-straight games from November 1978 to December 1987. Most recent outcome: December 26th, 2024 - the Seahawks outlast the Bears on one of the dullest Thursday Night Football games in recent memory with a 6-3 field goal battle victory. Chicago was the only NFC North team Seattle defeated during the 2024 campaign. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 13-6 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 12-6 : Seattle leads the series 12-6 Postseason: Seattle is 1-0 in the playoffs over Detroit Longest win streak: the Seahawks won six-straight games between October 2015 and September 2023. Their winning streak was only recently snapped by the Lions. Most recent outcome: September 30th, 2024 - the Lions hand the Seahawks their first defeat of the season, and the first in the Mike Macdonald era, taking them down 42-29 on Monday Night Football. Seattle's injury-depleted defense was no match for a Detroit offense firing on all cylinders. All-time record: Green Bay leads the series 16-9 Regular season : Green Bay leads the series 13-8 : Green Bay leads the series 13-8 Postseason: Green Bay is 3-1 over Seattle in the playoffs Longest win streak: both teams have had win steaks of three games, and both teams alternate when it occurs. Seattle has defeated the Packers three times in a row twice. Meanwhile, Green Bay has won three in a row against the Seahawks four times, including their active streak. Most recent outcome: December 15th, 2024 - another prime time game against the NFC North, another blowout defeat. The Seahawks were dominated at home 30-13 by the Packers on Sunday Night Football. The absence of Geno Smith due to injury in the second half doomed any hopes of a Seattle comeback. All-time record: Seattle leads the series 13-7 Regular season : Seattle leads the series 12-7 : Seattle leads the series 12-7 Postseason: Seattle is 1-0 over Minnesota in the playoffs Longest win streak: the Seahawks won seven-straight games over the Vikings between November 2012 and October 2020. Most recent outcome: December 22nd, 2024 - the Vikings effectively end the Seahawks' hopes of returning to the playoffs with a 27-24 victory at Lumen Field. Future Seattle quarterback Sam Darnold threw the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter, which ended up being the dagger on the Seahawks' season.

Ocean View Seahawks Class of 2025 soars into the future
Ocean View High School Principal Robert Rasmussen, in his fourth year in charge, knows that the Class of 2025 is the first that he's seen through an entire high school career. 'Every graduating class is special to me,' Rasmussen said last August, on the first day of the school year. 'Being able to watch them grow and mature throughout those high school years is one of the reasons I became a teacher.' The Seahawks' Class of 2025 flew the coop, so to speak, on Wednesday. Ocean View, the smallest of the six comprehensive high schools in the Huntington Beach Union High School District, definitely has no shortage of school pride with its slogan, 'You can't spell 'love' without 'OV.'' Ocean View celebrated its 291 graduates on an on-campus commencement ceremony. Mayra Chavez Casillas addressed her peers with a speech as the senior class president, while Gabrielle Singer and Santiago Valle also gave speeches as senior senate representatives. Angelina Bado, Matthew Bonilla, Brian Bui and Jacssiry Munoz were the Seahawks' other four senior graduation speakers. Tyler Babikian played the national anthem, while Dulce Rabano sang the alma mater. — Daily Pilot Staff

Seahawks considering adding a veteran cornerback. Jaire Alexander is available. Hmmm...
A two-time Pro Bowl cornerback just became available. Are the Seahawks good with their depth at cornerback? Are they interested in pursuing, say, Jaire Alexander, that two-time Pro Bowl corner the Green Bay Packers released this week because of a contract impasse? Seattle coach Mike Macdonald didn't exactly say yes to the first question or no to the second. Macdonald was asked this week how he feels about the Seahawks' depth at cornerback. 'Great,' the coach and defensive guru said following the team's final practice of minicamp and the veterans' offseason ended Wednesday. 'Again, these are great battles going into the offseason.' Without being asked specifically about Alexander, who Macdonald and Seahawks general manager (and Green Bay-area native) John Schneider know is now an unsigned free agent, Macdonald also said this about cornerback: 'Now, I mean, are we not going to look to always improve our team in any aspect? No. 'We're always going to be out there and try to be in everything and chasing edges on making us better.' The Seahawks have already hosted free-agent cornerbacks Rasul Douglas and Shaquill Griffin this offseason. Seattle and former coach Pete Carroll drafted Griffin in the third round in 2017. He played his first four seasons with the Seahawks. Now 29, Griffin was a reserve cornerback last season with Minnesota. He reportedly visited Carroll and the Las Vegas Raiders this week. The Packers released Alexander Monday, after he refused their offer of an amended contract. Multiple reports said he didn't want to take a restructured deal with a pay cut and more incentive bonuses. His father came out online and said the Packers wanted Alexander to play in 2025 with almost no guaranteed money. 'He wasn't willing to play for damn near free is a better quote,' Earl Landis Alexander posted on Twitter/X Friday. There's rarely anything that happens around the Packers that Schneider isn't in tune with. The Seahawks' 54-year-old GM was born and raised in De Pere, Wisconsin, five miles from Green Bay's Lambeau Field. His first NFL job was as a Packers scout for then-Green Bay GM Ron Wolf in 1993. He knows Brian Gutekunst, the Packers' current general manager. Schneider is assuredly up to date on Alexander's situation and why Green Bay let him go. Schneider's constant mantra about available free agents is he's always competing and seeking to improve the Seahawks, all year. That includes these six weeks between the end of offseason practices and the start of Seattle's training camp July 23. In OTAs and minicamp, the Seahawks had Pro Bowl cornerback Devon Witherspoon at right cornerback and Riq Woolen, a Pro Bowl selection as a rookie in 2022, at left cornerback. When Macdonald deployed his nickel defense in offseason practices, Witherspoon went inside as the slot corner and Josh Jobe was the right cornerback. The Seahawks signed Jobe to their practice squad late last August, two days after the Philadelphia Eagles released him. Seattle elevated him to the roster for games multiple times before the Seahawks signed him to their active roster in November. He played 65% of the Seahawks' defensive snaps last season. That showed how much they were in nickel with Witherspoon inside. The third, fourth and fifth cornerbacks are competitions heading into training camp. Veteran free-agent signee Shemar Jean-Charles, 2024 fifth-round pick Nehemiah Pritchett, 2024 free agents Damarion Williams and Tyler Hall are among those behind Witherspoon, Woolen and Jobe on the depth chart. Macdonald praised Hall on the field in minicamp for repeatedly being sound on his formation and play recognition in the coach's changing scheme. Hall, 26, has played in 31 NFL games over four seasons for the Falcons (in 2020) and Raiders ('21, '22 and '23). 'The guys that are with us right now kind of in that three, four, five spot is exciting,' Macdonald said. 'The guys are doing a great job, but go nail it this summer and come back and go compete your butt off.' Alexander is 28 years old. He was a starter for seven years in Green Bay, from his rookie season of 2018. The Packers selected him 18th overall in that year's NFL draft. His issue the last several years has been injuries. He's played in seven, seven and four games in three of the last four seasons, and in just 34 of a possible 68 regular-season games since the start of the 2021 season. He's had shoulder, knee, groin and back injuries. His 2024, and ultimately time with the Packers, ended after seven games because of a torn posterior ligament in his right knee. He tried to play through that before he needed season-ending surgery. Any team considering signing him will need to be convinced by its medical staff Alexander is healthy and recovered from the knee surgery from later last year. NFL reporter Josina Anderson said this week six teams made 'immediate inquiries' about Alexander, presumably to his agent, after the Packers released him.
