UAE sentences three to death for murder of Moldovan-"Israeli" rabbi
The Abu Dhabi Federal Appeal Court sentenced three men to death and a fourth to life imprisonment for the kidnapping and murder of Moldovan-"Israeli" national Zvi Kogan.
The unanimously issued ruling found the defendants guilty of premeditated murder with terrorist intent, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
The case was fast-tracked following an order by Hamad Saif Al-Shamsi, a UAE Attorney-General, who called for urgent proceedings in January 2025.
The State Security Prosecution's investigation revealed that the defendants had stalked and deliberately targeted Kogan. The court was presented with substantial evidence, including the defendants' detailed confessions, forensic reports, autopsy findings, crime scene tools, and witness testimonies.
The court sentenced the three main perpetrators to death, while the fourth accomplice, who assisted them, received a life sentence and will be deported upon completing his term. Under UAE law, death sentences are automatically subject to appeal and will be reviewed by the Court of Cassation of the Federal Supreme Court.
Following the verdict, Attorney General Al-Shamsi reaffirmed the UAE's commitment to combating terrorism with strict adherence to justice and the rule of law. He emphasized that the country's judiciary acts decisively against any threats to national security.

Jordan issues emergency safety guidelines amid regional escalation
The National Center for Security and Crisis Management in Jordan issued safety instructions on Friday for citizens in case air raid sirens are heard or unidentified objects fall from the sky, amid heightened regional tensions following 'Israeli' strikes on Iran. If you are outdoors: Seek shelter in the nearest building immediately. If no shelter is available, lie on the ground, cover your head with your hands, and preferably stay close to a wall or in a low-lying area. If you are in a vehicle: Pull over safely and remain inside the car. If you are indoors: Stay away from windows and avoid using elevators in case of a power outage. In all situations, authorities urge the public to call emergency services at 911 if there are injuries or damage, avoid spreading rumors, rely solely on official information sources, and only use phones when absolutely necessary to avoid overloading networks. What to Do If Unidentified Objects Fall from the Sky: Stay away from the site and maintain a safe distance. Do not approach or touch the object, as it may contain explosives or hazardous materials. Immediately notify the authorities by calling 911. Do not gather at the scene or take photos for social media. Ensure your family members are safe and remain calm. Limit phone use to emergencies to preserve network capacity.
