How to watch the NCAA softball tournament selection show on Sunday night
No. 1 Texas A&M (45-9, 16-7 SEC) run-ruled the Texas Longhorns 14-2 on Friday night during the SEC Tournament semifinal round, just a day after run-ruling South Carolina on Thursday evening, and after making it to the Championship round against the Oklahoma Sooners, inclement weather in Athens, Georgia led to SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey's decision to abruptly cancel the game, a blow to both fan bases.
Texas A&M's bad luck regarding weather in Athens continues, and while both teams were rewarded as co-champions after the cancellation, it's not the same, and prevented the Aggies from winning its first SEC softball Championship outright.
However, Texas A&M's incredible season under head coach Trishia Ford, who looks like the best coach on campus right now, has the Aggies poised for the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Tournament.
Finishing 45 wins, 16 coming in SEC play, Texas A&M's power at the plate, led by Maya Perez, Mac Barbara, and KK Dement, who combined for 37 of the team's 55 home runs, while Perez leads the Aggies with a .447 batting average and 63 hits on the year. On the mound, ace Emiley Kennedy leads in nearly every pitching category, including ERA (2.68), W-L (21-4) and strikeouts by a wide margin (139)
With enhanced depth on the mound combined with said power at the plate, the Aggies are poised for a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
