MUSCAT (WAM)Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the Mother of the Nation, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), offered her condolences on Thursday to Honourable Lady, Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah Al Busaidiyah, the wife of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman on the passing of her mother.This took place during H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak's visit and reception by the Honorable Lady and her accompanying delegation at Al Baraka Palace in the Omani capital, Muscat.During the reception, H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak expressed her heartfelt condolences and sincere sympathy to the Al Busaidi family and the brotherly Omani people. H.H. prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the deceased His vast mercy and forgiveness, to dwell her in His spacious gardens, and to bestow patience and solace upon her family and loved ones.H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak emphasised the deep-rooted fraternal ties that unite the two countries and peoples, as well as the mutual keenness to continue strengthening them.For her part, the Honorable Lady expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak for her sincere fraternal sentiments toward the family of the deceased. She also wished H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak continued health and wellness and affirmed the strong and enduring bonds between the two brotherly nations and their peoples.Members of the delegation accompanying H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak that included several sheikhas, officials, and female leaders from the UAE, also offered their condolences.

The signing ceremony, held at Bayan Palace in the presence of Sheikh Mansour and Kuwait's Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, underscores the two Gulf nations' intent to strengthen economic and diplomatic ties amid evolving regional dynamics. The agreements span a wide range of areas, with key MoUs covering healthcare, infrastructure, investment, social development, energy transition, and AI, as both countries pursue mutual development priorities and enhanced regional integration. UAE-Kuwait agreements signed According to the WAM report, the key deals signed cover sectors such as: Health: MoUs were signed between the UAE and Kuwait's health ministries to boost collaboration in medical services and public health policy. Education: Both countries agreed to expand cooperation in the education sector through a pact signed by their respective ministers of education. Energy and infrastructure: MoUs included commitments to collaborate in land transport, roads, oil and gas, and future energy initiatives such as water and electricity. Technology and industry: A separate agreement focused on industry and advanced technology was signed to support innovation and knowledge exchange. Humanitarian and legal affairs: Joint frameworks were agreed to address human trafficking and legal cooperation, reflecting a shared focus on rights and rule of law. Investment: The UAE's Minister of Investment and the head of Kuwait's Direct Investment Promotion Authority signed an MoU to promote bilateral investment flows. Security and data: Ministries of Interior from both sides inked an MoU on data protection and joint security information-sharing projects. AI partnership initiated, naval contract with EDGE The Kuwait Investment Authority joined the 'Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Partnership' initiative, which includes global partners MGX, BlackRock, Global Infrastructure Partners, and Microsoft — adding regional backing to the tech-driven project. In a separate defence agreement, Kuwait's Ministry of Defence signed a contract with UAE-based EDGE Group for the procurement of several 'Falaj 3' class missile boats, highlighting deepening defence industry ties between the two states. Representing the largest naval shipbuilding export in the region and one of the highest-value naval export deals globally, the agreement positions EDGE as the prime contractor overseeing the design, construction, trials, delivery, Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), and In-Service Support (ISS) for the vessels. EDGE will also supply ammunition, highlighting its end-to-end defence capabilities. UAE, Ireland issue joint statement on cooperation on criminal justice matters
4 June 2025 21:42 ABU DHABI (WAM) Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Justice, and Jim O'Callaghan, T.D., Irish Minister for Justice, held a phone call on May 31, 2025 following the extradition of an Irish national accused of murder and involvement in a criminal organisation, pursuant to a decision issued by the Dubai Court of Cassation. The ministers emphasised that the extradition underscores a firm and ongoing joint commitment to upholding the rule of law and fostering international cooperation. It reflects the strong relationship between the UAE and Ireland, the continued collaboration in the pursuit of international justice, and a shared determination to ensure that justice is served. UN condemns Israel's "deliberate choices" of systemically depriving Palestinians of essentials
4 June 2025 22:04 NEW YORK (WAM)The UN's humanitarian chief, Tom Fletcher, stated on Wednesday that the "horrifying scenes" of Palestinians being killed while attempting to access food aid are a direct consequence of "deliberate choices" to deny them essential emphasised, "The world is watching, day after day, horrifying scenes of Palestinians being shot, wounded or killed in Gaza while simply trying to eat."'We must be allowed to do our jobs: we have the teams, the plan, the supplies and the experience,' said Fletcher. He added, "Open the crossings – all of them. Let in life-saving aid at scale, from all directions. Lift the restrictions on what and how much aid we can bring in.
