Boulders roll down hill in Doddamane Koppa, cause panic
Madikeri: Boulders rolled down from the Mookri Gudda-Doddamanekoppa hill in Doddamane Koppa village in Somwarpet taluk, damaging coffee plantations and causing panic among the villagers.
The soil loosened due to the rain this year, and dozens of boulders rolled down into the coffee plantations. Villagers from Doddamane Koppa, under the jurisdiction of Tholurushettalli gram panchayat, approached the revenue department seeking assistance.
Quarrying was done in Mookri Gudda about 15 years ago, but later stone mining was stopped due to opposition by environmentalists. The villagers alleged that there is a fear of working in the estates now.
Based on the information provided by the villagers, revenue inspector Damodar and village accountant Karibasappa visited the spot. There are no houses in the area where the stones fell, so there is no problem at present. The stones fell 200 meters below the hill. Revenue officer Damodar opined that the villagers do not need to worry.
A report was submitted to the tahsildar and a geologist about the boulders falling into the estates, and the higher officials will inspect the spot. Further action will be taken as per their directions, officials said.

Karmic Astrology: Role of past life in current birth chart
Karmic astrology is a fascinating branch of Vedic astrology that deals with the influence of past life actions—known as karma—on one's present life. It operates on the spiritual belief that our soul goes through many lifetimes and carries forward unresolved lessons, patterns, and experiences. These karmic imprints are believed to reflect in the current birth chart, especially through specific planetary positions and combinations. One of the key indicators of karmic influence in a horoscope is the presence and placement of Rahu and Ketu, the shadow planets. Rahu represents desires and attachments from past lives that remain unfulfilled, while Ketu symbolizes past life mastery or detachment. Together, they form the karmic axis in a birth chart and help astrologers identify the areas of life where a person may face recurring challenges or experience strong, unexplained pulls. For example, a person with Rahu in the 7th house may feel a strong desire for relationships or partnerships in this life, possibly due to a lack of emotional bonding in a past life. Ketu in the 1st house, in the same case, might show a detachment from self-identity or a personality shaped by spiritual tendencies from a previous birth. Apart from Rahu and Ketu, certain yogas (planetary combinations) in a chart can also point to karmic patterns. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 2025 Top Trending Local Enterprise Accounting Software [Click Here] Accounting ERP Click Here Undo The presence of Saturn, the planet of discipline and lessons, in challenging positions can indicate unresolved duties or debts from past lifetimes that one must now address. Karmic astrology doesn't only focus on negative consequences. It also highlights positive karma—blessings and talents carried over from previous lives. A person may be naturally gifted in art, music, healing, or leadership, hinting at past-life efforts that are now bearing fruit. Karmic astrology helps us understand why we face certain patterns, fears, or situations repeatedly in life. By identifying these patterns, individuals can gain greater clarity and choose a more conscious path toward healing, self-growth, and fulfillment. It is a reminder that while we cannot change the past, we can transform its impact by living wisely in the present. What are Mahadasha and Antardasha in astrology?
The concepts of Mahadasha and Antardasha play a key role in understanding the timing of events in a person's life. They are part of a system called the Dasha system, which helps predict how planetary influences unfold over time. Among the various Dasha systems, the most widely used is the Vimshottari Dasha, which assigns a fixed number of years to each planet. Mahadasha – The Main Planetary Period The Mahadasha is a long-term period ruled by a particular planet. Each planet governs a specific number of years, such as: Sun: 6 years Moon: 10 years Mars: 7 years Mercury: 17 years Jupiter: 16 years Venus: 20 years Saturn: 19 years Rahu: 18 years Ketu: 7 years The Mahadasha planet influences major life areas like health, relationships, career, and personal growth. Its impact depends on where the planet is placed in the birth chart, whether it is benefic or malefic, and its relationship with other planets. Antardasha – The Sub-Period Within each Mahadasha, there are smaller periods called Antardashas, or sub-periods. These are governed by the other planets and show how the influence of the main planet (Mahadasha) is modified. For example, during the Mahadasha of Venus, you may go through an Antardasha of Mercury, then the Sun, and so on. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Upto 15% Discount for Salaried Individuals ICICI Pru Life Insurance Plan Get Quote Undo Each Antardasha brings its own set of experiences and results. Why Are They Important? Mahadasha and Antardasha help astrologers explain why certain periods in life feel positive or challenging. For example, someone in the Mahadasha of Saturn may experience hard work and delays, while another in Jupiter's Mahadasha may enjoy growth and blessings. Understanding Mahadasha and Antardasha helps us see the timing of life events more clearly. These planetary periods show how different energies play out over time. With proper guidance, they can help in making important life decisions, offering both caution and opportunity.
