Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami extends greetings on Kainchi Dham Pratishtha Divas
Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India], June 15 (ANI): Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami extended greetings on the Kainchi Dham Pratishtha Divas.
In his 'X' post, the CM Dhami hailed Neem Karori Baba and termed him as an 'ardent' devotee of Lord Hanuman.
'Hearty congratulations and best wishes to all the devotees on the consecration day of Shri Kainchi Dham, the divine place of penance of the most revered Baba Neeb Karori Ji Maharaj. I pray to Baba Neeb Karori Ji, an ardent devotee of Shri Hanuman Ji, for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of all of you', CM Dhami's official 'X' handle said.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday flagged off the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force's (ITBP) Himadri Trekking Expedition-2025 from the Chief Minister's Camp Office.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister paid tribute to all the passengers who died in the Ahmedabad plane crash and expressed condolences to their families. Two minutes of silence was observed for the peace of the souls of those who died in the plane crash.
Welcoming the brave soldiers and officers of ITBP, the Chief Minister said that this campaign is not only a symbol of courage and determination, but also an important step towards the strategic security of the border areas and the preservation of cultural heritage.
He said that under this campaign, a 45-member team of ITBP will undertake a difficult journey of about 1032 km from Uttarakhand to Ladakh via Himachal Pradesh. This campaign will not only ensure monitoring of strategically important places, but will also prove helpful in identifying religious, historical and cultural sites and promoting local traditions, a release said.
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride that a large number of brave soldiers serving in the army and paramilitary forces from Veerbhoomi Uttarakhand are contributing to the defense of the country. He said that the Indo-Tibetan Border Police Force has been playing an important role in protecting the country's borders as well as in relief and rescue operations during disasters since the year 1962. Wind energy at centre of India's strategy for renewable energy sector: Pralhad Joshi
Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], June 15 (ANI): On the occasion of Global Wind Day 2025, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi addressed a conference of stakeholders in Bengaluru today and said that Wind Energy is at the centre of India's strategy for the renewable energy sector. Joshi said that India needs energy to become a global manufacturing hub, whether it is solar, wind, or other forms. India has achieved 51.5 GW wind capacity, 150 per cent growth in a decade and is now exporting turbines and components globally, Minister Joshi said. 'We are moving steadily towards the 100 GW wind target by 2030, including 30 GW from offshore projects, backed by strong policy reforms and a robust manufacturing ecosystem,' he added. Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik and the Energy Minister in the Government of Karnataka, KG George, were also present on this occasion. 'Our national goals are ambitious and clear: 50 per cent of our power capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030, and a net-zero India by 2070. Wind energy is central to achieving these goals. Wind energy is not a component of our renewable energy strategy, but it is at the heart of it and at the centre of Atma Nirbhar Bharat,' said the minister. Underlining the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Joshi said, 'Narendra Modi gave us a vision to have 'renewable energy for manufacturing and conventional energy for household consumption'.' India's manufacturing capacity is increasing, and it will continue to increase. PM's vision stresses upon the importance of renewable energy production, storage and usage, so that once India becomes a global manufacturing hub in near future, it should be able to fulfill the energy demands of the manufacturing sector through renewable energy sources, said the minister. India has the huge potential in the renewable energy sector as it has globally the fourth largest wind power installed capacity and iis third largest renewable energy producer. 'No one had thought that India would become the third largest manufacturer of renewable energy in 10 years, but today it is a reality,' said the minister. The minister underlined the 3 key issues for the Wind Energy sector saying, 'First, we must combine wind with solar and storage (BESS) to deliver round-the-clock power and grid stability. Second, tariffs must be competitive. A rate of Rs 3.90 per unit is too high; we must work together to reduce costs. Third, domestic manufacturing must become more efficient, not just to meet our own targets, but to boost exports.' Underlining the dedicated efforts from the Centre to unleash the potential of the renewable energy sector, Joshi said, 'The Government is backing this sector with full seriousness. This year's renewable energy budget has gone up by 53 per cent, to Rs 26,549 crore, with a large share directed to wind.' 'The transition to renewables is inevitable. States must lead this transition. Land availability and transmission delays have to be overcome. This is not the time for hesitation, it is the time for execution,' the minister added. The Minister said, ' I am happy to note that India is manufacturing wind turbines ranging from 225 kW to 5.2 MW, with 33 models being produced by 14 companies. These turbines meet our domestic needs and are also cost-competitive globally.' The Minister further added that to fully unlock national wind potential, a coordinated national push is needed. 'That is why we are focusing on 5 priorities: Expanding into new states like Madhya Pradesh,Telangana, and Odisha; Launching the offshore sector with 4 GW of leasing areas identified in Gujarat and Tamil Nadu and tenders being readied; Integrating wind into round-the-clock and firm green power strategies, through storage-linked business models; Modernising the grid, investing in AI-based forecasting to manage variable renewable energy; and Boosting local manufacturing across the entire wind value chain,' he said. Union Minister Joshi also released reports on Wind Energy Roadmap and Manufacturing Roadmap at the event. He said that the documents will serve as guiding frameworks for our journey ahead and reflect our collective ambition, strategic thinking, and commitment to building a strong and Aatmanirbhar wind energy ecosystem in India. Best performing States in terms of Wind Capacity addition were also felicitated at the event. Karnataka was first with a wind capacity addition of 1331.48 MW followed by Tamil Nadu (1136.37 MW) and Gujarat (954.76 MW). India meets a sizable portion of its energy needs through fossil fuels, and various renewable energy sources, including wind energy, are seen as an avenue to reduce dependence on conventional sources of power. Green energy for climate mitigation is not just a focus area for India; it has gained momentum globally. At COP26 held in 2021, India committed to an ambitious five-part 'Panchamrit' pledge. They included reaching 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity, generating half of all energy requirements from renewables, and reducing emissions by 1 billion tonnes by 2030. India as a whole also aims to reduce the emissions intensity of GDP by 45 per cent. Finally, India commits to net-zero emissions by 2070. (ANI)

Delhi CM Rekha Gupta accuses AAP of misrule in Punjab, silence over Operation Sindoor
Ludhiana (Punjab) [India], June 15 (ANI): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Sunday launched a scathing attack on Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal during her visit to Ludhiana, Punjab, accusing him of failing to address spurious liquor deaths and mismanaging the state's governance. CM Gupta was attending a public meeting, campaigning for the Bhartiya Janata Party's candidate, Jiwan Gupta, for the Ludhiana West by-election scheduled for June 19. Aam Aadmi Party (BJP) has fielded sitting Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora as its candidate for the Ludhiana West seat. Addressing a gathering, Gupta said, 'People are dying from spurious liquor, but what are you (Arvind Kejriwal) doing? You are grabbing the land of poor farmers in connivance with the builder mafia. The people of Delhi, who had given you so much support, got a little angry with you, and you came and sat in Punjab... Arvind Kejriwal has hollowed out the state government... Toda, you have buried it under a debt of 4 lakh crores due to your wrong policies.' Her remarks targeted Kejriwal's leadership in Punjab, where AAP governs, alleging financial ruin and neglect of public welfare. Gupta also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Operation Sindoor's success and criticised Kejriwal's silence on the operation. She stated, 'Every person in the country was happy with Operation Sindoor... None of the drones (of Pakistan) crossed the Punjab border, which happened under PM Narendra Modi's guidance. But you did not utter a word in its praise... There was not a single Punjabi or Sikh minister in 10 years of your tenure in the Delhi government. The entire Punjab government runs under the command of Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, Bibhav Kumar, and Raghav Chadha. What do they have to do with Punjab?' Tourist spots reopen in Kashmir a day after LG Sinha's announcement; move widely welcomed
Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 15 (ANI): A day after Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha announced the reopening of eight major tourist destinations to revive tourism and restore public confidence, several locations in Kashmir were thrown open to tourists on Sunday. The reopened sites include the picturesque Betaab Valley, the serene Verinag, Kokernag, Achabal Mughal Gardens, and multiple parks in Pahalgam town. The decision was welcomed by locals, political leaders, and tourists alike. These destinations had been temporarily closed following the terror attack at Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepalese citizen. With the reopening, tourists were seen flocking to the sites in large numbers. A female tourist in Pahalgam told ANI, 'This decision of the government is right. If there is no tourism, how will the locals survive? The government's initiative is good. Tourist places are reopening with adequate security. I urge everyone to visit and support tourism here...' Local politicians also hailed the decision. Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari said, 'It's a welcome step. It sends a positive message to the nation that Kashmir is normal now. I appeal to people across India, come to Kashmir. It's as safe as your cities and homes.' Pahalgam MLA Altaf Kaloo said, 'The places have opened and the Amarnath Yatra is also going to start soon. This is a positive thing. In the coming time, all other tourist places will also open. The number of tourists has started increasing, which is a positive sign. Our message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir is that it is our duty to make the Yatra a success...' On Saturday, LG Sinha, during his visit to Pahalgam, had met delegations comprising MLAs, DDC chairpersons and vice-chairpersons, tour operators, Ponywala associations, and hoteliers. He assured them that other restrictions would be lifted after a thorough security review. Sharing an update on social media platform X, LG Sinha said, 'I've ordered reopening of some of the tourist spots in Kashmir & Jammu Divisions, which were temporarily closed as precautionary measures. Betab Valley & Parks in Pahalgam Market, Verinag Garden, Kokernag Garden and Achabal Garden to be reopened from 17th June.' He added, 'Other tourist destinations being reopened includes Badamwari Park, Duck Park, Taqdeer Park in Srinagar, Sarthal, Dhaggar in Kathua, Devi Pindi, Siyad Baba, Sula Park in Reasi, Guldanda & Jai valley in Doda and Pancheri in Udhampur. Reopening will be in phase-wise manner.' (ANI)
