Washington: Closing Strait of "Hormuz" Will Spark Major Economic Crisis

Saba Yemen4 hours ago

Washington - (Saba):
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio urged China on Monday to use its influence to persuade Iran not to close the Strait of Hormuz in response to the recent US strikes targeting Iranian nuclear sites.
In an interview with Fox News, Rubio said that Beijing relies heavily on the Strait of Hormuz to secure its oil supplies, stressing the importance of China's intervention to prevent Tehran from taking a step that could lead to the closure of this vital waterway.
Rubio warned that closing the strait would be a "grave mistake" and "economic suicide" for Iran. He emphasized that the United States has multiple options for dealing with this scenario, but stressed that it is not limited to Washington's response alone, but requires a response from other countries that may be more affected.
Meanwhile, Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to Iran's Supreme Leader, announced that the bases used by US forces to launch attacks on Iranian nuclear sites "will be considered legitimate targets," reflecting an escalation in Iranian rhetoric.
China, along with Russia, North Korea, and a number of Arab countries, joined in condemning the US attacks, describing them as escalating tensions in the Middle East.

US Intel policeman role threatens regional stability

Sana'a - Saba: The United States faces sharp global criticism for its role as an international policeman, with critics asserting its military presence serves colonial interests and perpetrates heinous acts against humanity. Despite this reality being known to Arab and Islamic leaders, a pervasive silence imposed by the US, Israeli entity, and European colonial powers has rendered many regional regimes subservient, implementing foreign agendas unwillingly. The article highlights current military actions against Iran as the most heinous military action in modern history. It suggests these attacks follow a deliberate strategy to neutralize regional powers like Hezbollah and Syria, paving the way for the current targeting of Iran, which is unfolding openly. It has been warned that after Iran, other significant regional powers like Pakistan and Turkey could be next. The only recourse is for Arab and Islamic nations to unite against Israel entity, which is now seen as threatening all. It has been suggested that regional politicians failed to grasp the true implications of earlier US calls for a new Middle East, now facing the consequences as regimes are eradicated, new alliances formed, and maps redrawn to suit new colonialists. The situation is deemed extremely dangerous, with Yemen and its leadership credited for early understanding and opposition to these colonial ambitions. It has been cited statements by Supreme Political Council President Mahdi al-Mashat and other officials, who emphasized that support for aggression against Iran would be met with a legitimate response. They urged Arab and Islamic countries not to passively await their turn but to unify their stance against aggressive colonial plans. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (Reports)

UNRWA: 200-mln-dollar shortage threatens all our operations

New York - Saba: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) revealed that it is experiencing an extremely serious financial crisis, suffering a deficit estimated at approximately $200 million, threatening its ability to continue until the end of the current year. According to UNRWA's official website, the agency's media advisor, Adnan Abu Hasna, explained in a press statement on Monday that the crisis is not limited to the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, but rather extends to all of UNRWA's areas of operation, including Jordan, Lebanon, Syria, and East Quds. He noted that the financial situation is extremely critical. He called on the international community to take action to support the agency, noting that this is not the sole responsibility of UNRWA, but rather the responsibility of the member states of the United Nations General Assembly. He added that "UNRWA is not a company and does not receive its funding from taxes, as governments do." Rather, approximately 90% of its budget depends on donations, and the only alternative is to support the agency. Abu Hasna had previously sounded the alarm when he stated that UNRWA's available funding is sufficient until the end of June, calling on the Arab world to take action to financially support the agency. The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is funded almost entirely by voluntary contributions from UN member states. The Agency's services include education, health care, relief, infrastructure, camp improvement, community support, microfinance, and emergency response, including in times of armed conflict.
