This ultra-secluded beach in the Philippines is the world's second best beach in 2025

Time Out19-05-2025

Summer is coming in hot, which means one thing – beach time. If you're heading to Asia and need some inspiration for where to get your tan on, then a new list by World's 50 Best Beaches is just for you.
The World's 50 Beaches team, its judges and Beach Ambassadors have had the enviable job of racking up hours of sun, sand, and sea time on some of the most idyllic golden stretches in the world. They voted for their favourites based on this first-hand experience, resulting in the Best Beaches in the World, 2025 list.
Of the 50 beaches worldwide, eight beaches in Asia were tipped for being among the best. And if you like frolicking in seclusion, then you'll love the best beach in Asia (and second-best in the world): Entalula Beach in the Philippines. Located in Palawan, this paradise is shaded by towering, limestone cliffs, forming a backdrop to calm, turquoise waters ideal for swimming and snorkelling. Because it can only be reached by boat, it's less frequented by tourists – but perhaps not for long. To get here, hop on a private transfer or group tour from El Nido Town or Corong Corong Beach.
It's hard to find a Thai island that's not overrun with tourists, but Koh Kood still flies under the radar. It's home to the third-best beach in the world, Bang Bao Beach, which the World's 50 Beaches team calls "quiet and pristine". Take a leisurely swim in clear, shallow waters, pick through the jungle fringing the beach, or stroll along the wooden pier to observe daily life in the small fishing village. It's a bit of an effort to get here – you'll have to take a plane or bus from Bangkok to Trat before hopping on a boat – but it's well worth it.
Next on the list is a personal favourite of ours: Pink Beach in Indonesia's Komodo National Park, which you can reach via Labuan Bajo mainland. As it's name suggests, the sand on this beach is an appealing blush pink, caused by the mixture of white sand and red coral fragments. The water here is strikingly clear and calm, and there are beach shacks on the sand selling light meals and beverages. Most people visit Pink Beach as part of a day tour to Padar Island, Komodo Island (to see the famed Komodo dragons), and Manta Point.
The rest of the list includes a mix of hidden gems (Pulau Palambak, Goyambokka Beach) and tourist hotspots (Freedom Beach, Bon Bon Beach). Check out why they're worthy of your next beach vacation at World's 50 Beaches.
The best beaches in the world 2025 – Asia's ranking:
Entalula Beach, Philippines (#2)
Bang Bao Beach, Thailand (#3)
Pink Beach, Indonesia (#13)
Pulau Palambak, Indonesia (#27)
Freedom Beach, Thailand (#28)
Bon Bon Beach, Philippines (#38)
Goyambokka Beach, Sri Lanka (#40)
Kuramathi Sand Bank, Maldives (#49)

Affordable holiday island for Brits with white sand beaches and Dubai-like restaurants that is loved by celebs

CYPRUS has been an affordable holiday destination for Brits for years, and it's popular with celebrities too. With white sandy beaches, delicious food, and beautiful villas, it's no surprise that one beloved British singer even has a holiday home there. 6 6 Over the years, the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones have been spotted on the sunny island. There have also been lots of British holidaymakers there like Kerry Katona, James Blunt, and Peter Andre - who has a strong connection to Cyprus that 20 years ago, he decided to build his own holiday home there. In the city of Larnaca on the southeast coast of Cyprus, Peter has a villa with five bedrooms, a swimming pool and tennis court. Talking to Sun Travel about his holiday home in Larnaca, Peter said: "The house is so beautiful and private. Obviously the smells, the foods, it reminds me of my childhood and my parents. "I bought the land 20 odd years ago and I said 'dad, here's the money to build it' and my dad spent three years building the most beautiful house. "It's very sentimental to us and the other thing is there are some amazing beaches with bright white sand." As for where to go, Peter added: "I like to go to quiet places. I don't really like to go where it's crazily busy. "The food there is amazing and we love the restaurants. For anyone going to Larnaca, I have three recommendations. One is a new restaurants called Theta in Perivolia which is very near the airport. It does Mediterranean food, but done in the style of a Dubai 5-star restaurant. "We go there and we're like 'why doesn't anyone know about this place?'" Peter also loves to go to a Japanese restaurant called Nippon. All the free activities Cyprus has to offer 6 He also added: "There's another one called Opa Souvlaki Kiti, it's not fancy, but if you want a proper Greek kebab done the Cypriot way, go there." Peter stayed tight-lipped about the quiet beaches he and his family head to on holiday. But some of the most popular across the island according to Tripadvisor are Nissi Beach, Fig Tree Bay Beach, Coral Bay and Makronissos Beach. For anyone who fancies a trip over to Cyprus, you can even book a stay in Peter's Villa Amelia which is a short drive from Larnaca Airport. Inside is five bedrooms, each one sleeping two people. The rooms have queen beds or single beds, and their own en suites. The shared spaces include huge living area with two sets of sofas, as well as a separate dining and kitchen area. Outside, there's lots of places to relax by the pool or battle it out in a game of tennis. 6 It's a great time to go to Larnaca too as TravelSupermarket revealed earlier this year that the city is cheaper this year compared to 2024. Larnaca, a city on the southeast coast of Cyprus, has emerged as the holiday destination with the biggest price drop. According to TravelSupermarket, the holiday comparison website, prices of a holiday to Larnaca have fallen by £495 per person. The average price in 2024 was £1,292.04 and in 2025 is £797.97 - a 38 per cent decrease. Flights from the UK take just over four hours and you can book flights with Ryanair from £34.99. There's another place a little further afield that Peter described as 'a kids' paradise' - as he discovers the world's most child-friendly holiday destination. And here's the Dubai-like spa hotel in the UK where Peter Andre and wife Emily go on child-free weekends. 6

The underrated city named the best solo travel destination in Asia

Southeast Asian countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia have long been popular among solo travellers – but if you're looking to step off the backpacker trail and see a different side of this vast continent, we've got some great inspo for you. The team at Time Out Asia has just released a new list of Asia's best destinations for solo travellers. Contributor and intrepid traveller Simran Panaech has picked some truly offbeat destinations, from a tiny Thai island and a creative hub in Indonesia to the pristine beaches of Japan. Topping the list? The Silk Road city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan. What makes this historic city such a draw for solo travellers? According to Simran, Samarkand is perfect for those 'looking for something different in terms of culture, history, and architecture.' The city's must-see sights include Registan Square, home to three fifteenth-to-seventeenth-century madrassahs (Islamic schools). Known for their colourful mosaics, these buildings make up one of the world's most spectacular architectural sites (hence why we named Registan Square one of the world's most beautiful places). Simran also recommends Siyob Bazaar, a large agricultural market where you can 'browse countless souvenirs, food, spices and nuts.' Some of the best places to stay in Samarkand include the Hilton Samarkand Regency, the Furkat Guesthouse or the Medina Hotel. Then there's the option to splash out on the Golden Eagle Luxury Train, a gloriously decadent two-weeker along the Silk Road. Hungry? Head to the Bibikanum Teahouse for hearty local plates (and plenty of options for the veggies) or Oasis Garden, for a mish-mash of national and international food. Check out why we named wider Uzbekistan as one of 2025's top travel destinations. More on solo travel At Time Out, we know how important it is to be prepared for your solo travel trip. This boutique Melbourne hotel was just honoured with a major style and design award

Hands up if the name La Liste rings a bell? You may recognise it as the Paris-based restaurant ranking guide that unveils an annual list of its top 1,000 restaurants – last year, it crowned Melbourne's very own fine diner Vue de Monde as the best restaurant in Australia (and fifth in the whole world). Now La Liste is back with a hotly anticipated 2025 guide to the most outstanding hotels around the globe. And you may be surprised to hear that a new boutique accommodation in Fitzroy has been awarded a very special accolade. The StandardX – an uber-cool, industrial-style venue that we reviewed in November 2024 – is among just five hotels to receive the prestigious Style and Design Award. These are hotels that have been either "launched or refurbished with outstanding design". La Liste called the StandardX "arty, bold and unfiltered", and it shared the honour with Maison Heler Metz in France, ÖÖD Hekla Horizon in Iceland, Reschio Hotel in Italy and Ulaman Eco Luxury Resort in Indonesia. The hotel only opened in August 2024, and is the first StandardX iteration from famed hotel chain the Standard. Described as "the rebellious younger sibling", it boasts 125 rooms over eight floors, as well as an all-day Thai street food-inspired restaurant called Bang, a rooftop bar with panoramic city views and a retail offering. Led by Melbourne-based interior design firm Hecker Guthrie, the styling elements blend the grittiness of Fitzroy with modern comforts – think rustic finishes, plenty of greenery, caramel leather couches and an epic red revolving front door. "It's bougie, for sure, but still artsy enough to feel like it belongs to the northside," says Time Out Melbourne's food and drink writer, Lauren Dinse. "The designers have taken inspiration from Fitzroy's post-punk 'Little Band' scene of the late 1970s and early 1980s, paying homage to its music venues, street art and café culture – historic pulse points of this vibrant 'hood." The full list of 1,000 hotels included properties from Paris, London and Bangkok. This year, the ten spots to share the top gong with a near-perfect score of 99.5 include: La Réserve Paris, France The Connaught and The Savoy, England Il San Pietro di Positano, Italy Cheval Blanc Paris, France J.K. Place Capri, Italy Mandarin Oriental Bangkok, Thailand The Peninsula Shanghai, China The Peninsula Chicago, USA Rosewood Mayakoba, Mexico To find out more, read the full list here.
