Wales and Lions lock Beard to leave Ospreys
Ospreys have announced Adam Beard will leave at the end of the season, with the Wales lock expected to join French side Montpellier.Beard is out of contract at the Welsh region at the end of this season and is set to join the French Top 14 side, although that move is yet to be officially confirmed.The 29-year-old, who has played 58 internationals for Wales and one Test for the British and Irish Lions, made his Ospreys debut as an 18-year-old in 2014 and has played 139 games for his home-city side.Beard is hoping to prove his fitness for the final United Rugby Championship (URC) home game of the season against Dragons in Swansea on Saturday.
Flanker Justin Tipuric is set to miss his home farewell before he retires at the end of the season.Tipuric suffered a pectoral injury in the Challenge Cup defeat against Lyon earlier this month.
Leaving 'a special place'
Beard says it was difficult to decide to leave Ospreys having "loved" his time at the region."I grew up being an Ospreys supporter and I was lucky enough to have come through the academy system and then progress to the first team," he added. "I have had lots of conversations with my family, friends and the coaches here, and feel like this is the right time to venture into a new challenge for myself and my family."I have enjoyed every second of playing here and have made friends and memories that will last a lifetime. This a special place that has played a hugely important role in where I am as a player, and person, today."
Elite professional
Ospreys head coach Mark Jones says Beard will be missed and hopes the next generation of locks can fill the void. "Beardy's influence has been ever-present in his time at the Ospreys," said Jones."He will leave a big hole as a player, a set -piece expert, and a leader."The Ospreys have historically placed a high importance on having a strong front five and he has been a key contributor in that for a long time. "He's an elite professional, but most of all, a great person."While we'll miss Beardy's presence at the club, we have high hopes for a lot of our second rows that have come through the ranks recently. "His departure will provide an opportunity for those boys, along with any new additions we have, to step up as leaders."Wales captains Dewi Lake and Jac Morgan have signed new deals to stay at Ospreys next season, while Ross Moriarty is set to join from Brive.

Boulter joked: 'Scrap what she said – we're going for the Wimbledon title! No, I'm just kidding.' The British pair claimed an early break in the first set and extended their lead to 4-2 before Wu and Jiang drew level at 4-4. Boulter and Raducanu broke back and eventually claimed the opening set, converting their second set point. Momentum in their favour, the Britons made quicker work of the pair from China and Chinese Taipei in the second set, sealed emphatically by Raducanu's volley. Fans on social media were quick to complain that the match was not available to watch in full on the BBC, who did occasionally cut to the British pair but focused on the action on the newly-christened Andy Murray Arena, where the three-time grand slam winner was honoured in a morning ceremony. The PA news agency understands contractural considerations between a number of stakeholders – including the WTA and LTA – contributed to the contest being held on the smaller court. PA has contacted the BBC for comment. Raducanu did not mind the venue, adding: 'I think sometimes on the smaller courts youb get a bigger feel for the match, the atmosphere and the environment, because it's a lot closer, more intimate, and you hear the support more. 'For me, I love playing on those smaller, outside courts where you really feel the support and the crowd gets into it. I was filling my bottle up, and I was literally having a chat in the stands because that's how close it is.' Elsewhere, British number three Sonay Kartal got her singles campaign off to a winning start with a 6-1 3-6 6-3 victory over Australia's world number 16 Daria Kasatkina.

Ospreys number eight Morris signs new deal
Ospreys number eight Morgan Morris has signed a new deal to stay with the Swansea-based 26, has made 115 appearances since making his Ospreys debut in 2017."It was an easy decision for me, this is my hometown club and where I have spent the whole of my professional career," said Morgan."My best mates are here, players that came through a similar time to me, and we've all developed alongside each other, which is something that we will always treasure."We are a young team that's moving in the right direction, and we're looking forward to pushing on and doing something special next season."
