Political leadership, armed forces: Field Marshal hosts dinner
ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, expressed profound gratitude to the political leadership for their strategic foresight during Marka-e-Haq and lauded the seamless inter-services coordination that ensured operational success in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.
He made these remarks while hosting a high-profile dinner in Rawalpindi to honour the Armed Forces' commitment, the resilience of the nation, and the unity of political leadership that defined a critical chapter in Pakistan's history.
The ceremony, held in the presence of a distinguished gathering, included President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Chairman Senate, Speaker National Assembly, Federal Ministers, Governors, Chief Ministers, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Chiefs of Air and Naval Staff, senior political leaders, and high-ranking civil and military officials.

During the event, participants paid tribute to the brave sacrifices of the Armed Forces, the mature political leadership that guided the country through adversity, and the unyielding spirit of the people of Pakistan.
The COAS also highlighted the instrumental role played by the youth and media in countering India's disinformation campaign, describing them as a 'steel wall' against propaganda. He further praised the contributions of Pakistani scientists, engineers, and diplomats, calling their professionalism a cornerstone in securing the nation's strategic objectives.
The evening was marked by a strong sense of solidarity, with all segments of national leadership reaffirming their resolve to move forward with unity, strength, and purpose.

Delegations to project country's perspective
ISLAMABAD: Pursuant to the prime minister's directive, two high-level multiparty delegations started their visit to New York, Washington DC, Moscow, London and Brussels on 2 June 2025 to project Pakistan's perspective on the recent Indian aggression. In response to media queries, the Spokesperson of the Foreign Office (FO) confirmed that, under the PM instructions, the Pakistani delegations will engage with key capitals, to present the country's perspective on recent Indian aggression and Pakistan's measured and responsible conduct. FO Spokesperson Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan said in a statement on Monday that a nine-member Pakistani delegation is led by Chairman Pakistan People's Party, and former Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The other members of the delegation include Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr Musadik Masood Malik; Chairperson, Senate Standing Committee on Climate Change and Environmental Coordination and former Minister for Information and Climate Change, Senator Sherry Rehman; Chairperson, National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Foreign Minister, Hina Rabbani Khar; former Minister for Commerce, Defence and Foreign Affairs, Engineer Khurram Dastgir Khan; former Minister for Maritime Affairs, Senator Syed Faisal Ali Subzwari; and Senator Bushra Anjum Butt. Bilawal-led delegation reaches US The delegation also includes two former Foreign Secretaries, Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani (retired), who also served as Caretaker Foreign Minister, and Ambassador Tehmina Janjua (retired). Another delegation, led by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Syed Tariq Fatemi, will visit Moscow from 2 June 2025, the spokesperson added. The visits of these delegations are aimed at projecting Pakistan's perspective on the recent Indian aggression. The delegations will highlight Pakistan's responsible and restrained conduct – seeking peace with responsibility – in the face of India's reckless and belligerent actions in violation of international law. They will also highlight that dialogue and diplomacy should take precedence over conflict and confrontation, Ambassador Shafqat remarked. 'The delegations will underscore the imperative for the international community to play its due role in promoting a lasting peace in South Asia,' he said, adding the need for immediate resumption of the normal functioning of the Indus Waters Treaty will also be a key theme of the delegations' outreach. The delegations will engage in a series of meetings with the leadership of international bodies, public office holders, senior officials, parliamentarians, think tanks, media and diaspora. JI condemns KE in citywide protests
Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) staged citywide protests on Monday against K-Electric's (KE's) load shedding, approval of a harsh multi-year tariff, and recovery of line losses from ordinary consumers. Demonstrations were held at K-E's Integrated Business Centers (IBCs) and 11 other key locations, with protesters raising slogans and carrying placards against KE, NEPRA, the government nexus, and authorities, while district chiefs and other officials addressed the assemblies. At a protest outside Liaquatabad Post Office, JI Karachi Ameer Monem Zafar Khan, stated that citizens of the city are enduring hardships due to long hours of load shedding amid sweltering heat. He stated that, in Malir, under JI, a sit-in has continued at a KE IBC for 14 consecutive days, but he wants to clarify that JI has no personal enmity with anyone, and struggles for the citizens.
