Stocks to watch: SIA, Boustead
[SINGAPORE] The following companies saw new developments that may affect trading of their securities on Friday (Jun 13). Singapore Airlines (SIA) : An Air India plane bound for London crashed moments after taking off from the city of Ahmedabad on Thursday and more than 240 casualties have been reported, authorities said. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, with 242 people on board, which was headed for Gatwick Airport, south of the British capital, had only one survivor after it crashed onto a medical college hostel during lunch hour. SIA has a 25.1 per cent stake in the Indian airline after a merger happened in November 2024. Shares of SIA closed 0.4 per cent or S$0.03 lower at S$7.03 on Thursday. Boustead : The company announced that it is conducting strategic reviews for the sale of its stake in some of its logistics and industrial real estate assets to a real estate investment trust, to be listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange. The engineering and technology group said on Thursday that the review is part of its 'ordinary course of business to periodically consider options and opportunities' in relation to its investments to unlock shareholder value. The counter closed at 0.8 per cent or S$0.01 higher at S$1.25 on Thursday, before the announcement. Trading halt Stoneweg European Real Estate Investment Trust (Stoneweg E-Reit) : Units of Stoneweg E-Reit will cease to trade on the Singapore Exchange (SGX) on Jun 13 from 5 pm, the company announced on Thursday. Prior to the trading halt announcement, the manager of the Reit announced that it will be converted into a stapled group. Each unit of Stoneweg E-Reit will be stapled to a unit in Stoneweg European Business Trust. It will then form a stapled security in an entity known as Stoneweg Europe Stapled Trust. The stapled securities will be traded on the SGX with effect from Jun 16, 2025, 9 am. The counter ended 0.6 per cent or 0.01 euros higher at 1.59 euros on Thursday.

Centurion shares hit all-time high on submission to list Reit on SGX
[SINGAPORE] Shares of Centurion rose on Wednesday (Jun 11) afternoon after the company announced its listing application of a real estate investment trust (Reit) to the Singapore Exchange (SGX) and Monetary Authority of Singapore. As at 1 pm, the counter climbed to S$1.53, 3.4 per cent or S$0.05 higher than its Tuesday closing price of S$1.48, with around 2.4 million shares changing hands, ShareInvestor data showed. This is the highest price Centurion shares have risen to since they started trading in 1995. On Tuesday, Centurion said the application is still under review, but the Reit it is aiming to establish will comprise some of the group's worker and student accommodation assets. The company said the details of the initial public offering (IPO) and proposed establishment are still being finalised. 'The listing of the Reit will be subject to, among other things, market conditions, commercial negotiations, the relevant regulatory, shareholders' and other approvals being obtained, and the execution of definitive agreements by the relevant parties,' it added. Centurion was previously featured in RHB's Singapore Small Cap Jewels 2025 as one of its top stock picks, among other companies with small market capitalisation. For its Q1 financial results ended Mar 31, Centurion posted a 13 per cent increase in revenue to S$69 million. This was driven by positive rental revisions across markets and strong financial occupancies both in Singapore and the UK.

Keppel DC Reit to join STI from June 23; units rise 0.9%

PHOTO: THE BUSINESS TIMES SINGAPORE - Following the Straits Times Index's (STI) June quarterly review, Keppel DC Reit will be entering the index, replacing Jardine Cycle & Carriage, effective from June 23. This increases the total number of S-Reits in the index to eight. The eight S-Reits in the STI will be: CapitaLand Ascendas Reit, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust, Frasers Centrepoint Trust, Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust, Mapletree Industrial Trust, Mapletree Logistics Trust and Mapletree Pan Asia Commercial Trust. Keppel DC Reit units rose 0.9 per cent, or two cents, to $2.26 as at 9.08am on June 9, after the announcement. With a market cap of $4.9 billion, it re-enters the STI after exiting in June 2023, and is expected to increase S-Reits' combined weight in the index to over 10 per cent. The Reit, Asia's first pure-play data centre Reit, listed in 2014 with eight data centres and $1 billion in assets under management (AUM). Today, it owns 24 data centres across 10 countries, with an AUM of $4.9 billion. Of this, 81.6 per cent is in Asia-Pacific (66.3 per cent in Singapore) and 18.4 per cent in Europe. Keppel DC Reit's Q1 2025 results showed a 59.4 per cent year-on-year increase in distributable income, with gross revenue and net property income (NPI) growing by 22.6 per cent and 24.1 per cent, respectively. Its distribution per unit rose by 14.2 per cent to 2.503 for the quarter. This was driven by acquisitions of Keppel DC Singapore 7 & 8, Tokyo Data Centre 1, and higher contributions from contract renewals and escalations in 2024. Portfolio rental reversion was 7 per cent, with no major renewals in the first quarter of 2025, and portfolio occupancy remained at 96.5 per cent as at March 31. Loh Hwee Long, chief executive officer of Keppel DC Reit Management, noted at Reit's annual general meeting that it saw overall valuation gains in 2024, especially from its Singapore colocation assets. Most European assets also recorded local currency gains despite some softness in smaller data centres, reinforcing the strength of its diversified, value-focused portfolio. The Reit has been actively acquiring assets. In 2024, it entered Japan as a new market with the acquisition of Tokyo Data Centre 1, and also completed the acquisition of two AI-ready hyperscale data centres in Singapore from its sponsor, Keppel, which marked its largest deal exceeding $1 billion since listing. According to its annual report, the Reit's sponsor, Keppel, plans to expand its data centre portfolio to a total of 1.2 gigawatt in the near term, which could provide a pipeline of assets for Keppel DC Reit to potentially acquire. For its financial year 2024, the Reit recorded 15.5 per cent year-on-year decrease in total greenhouse gas emissions and has achieved the GRESB Green Star for a third consecutive year, with six of its assets in Singapore and Dublin maintaining green certifications. In trading this year, Keppel DC Reit has ranked among the top 20 stocks by trading turnover and among the top five most actively traded S-Reits. The STI reserve list, which consists of the five highest ranking non-constituents of the STI, will be (in alphabetical order): CapitaLand Ascott Trust, ComfortDelGro, Keppel Reit, NetLink NBN Trust and Suntec Reit.
