Jonathan Joss' murder investigation takes turn as police backtrack on statement
Police have backtracked on a previous statement about Jonathan Joss' death as they state they were 'premature' in dismissing claims his murder was because of his sexual orientation.
On Sunday night, Joss, 59, was shot and killed in San Antonio, Texas, with Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56, since charged with murder.
Since Joss' death, his husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, shared a lengthy statement on Facebook, claiming the actor had been killed in a homophobic attack.
A previous statement from a San Antonio PD spokesman claimed they did not believe Joss' death was related to homophobia
'Despite online claims of this being a hate crime, currently the investigation has found no evidence to indicate that Mr. Joss's murder was related to his sexual orientation.'
In a press conference on Thursday, San Antonio's Police Department Chief William McManus retracted the statement, commenting that it had been released 'way too prematurely.'
'We shouldn't have done that, it was way too early to make a statement of that nature, we didn't have information to make that statement,' he said. More Trending
'We understand the LGBTQ+ community is feeling anxious and concerned, a lot of it has to do with that statement, we're sorry.
'The loss of Jonathan Joss was tragic and felt by the LGBTQ+ community, there's also a concern around the circumstances surrounding that death and the history leading up to that.'
The late actor was best known for playing Chief Ken Hotate in the Parks and Recreation comedy series and for voicing John Redcorn on the animated sitcom King of the Hill, which ran for 13 seasons between 1997 and 2009.

A body has been found by police searching for a Colombian woman who vanished after leaving her east London home. Yajaira Castro Mendez, 46, was reported missing on May 31 having left her home in Ilford on the morning of May 29. Her family has been told about the discovery of the body, which was found during searches in Hampshire's Bolderwood area on Saturday, but formal identification has yet to be made. Detective Inspector Jay Gregory said: 'This is a very sad development in the investigation and our thoughts are very much with Yajaira's family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Bianca Censori's huge move as she launches self-named business away from Kanye
Kanye West's wife Bianca Censori has made a big career move with the news coming just days after she once again caused an outcry due to her racy outfit choices Bianca Censori has returned to social media in recent days, and the reason could soon be clear. The 30-year-old architect and wife of Kanye West had steered clear from public attention in recent weeks but is back with yet more controversial looks. And while her posts haven't stated any reason for the uploads, it's been revealed she has branched out with a career path away from her hubby. The Australian beauty was an architect at Yeeze in 2020, but has moved away from her usual role in recent years as she stayed by her man's side. She has continued to turn heads and create chaos with her barely-there outfits alongside the rapper, 47, but her recent uploads have shown her alone. And now it's been revealed she has set up her first U.S. company, Bianca Censori Inc, which was registered last month with the state of California. According to the Sun, Bianca has also registered her full name as an Australian firm, based in Alphington. The affluent Melbourne suburb is currently the home of her parents. The publication hints the firm could be in the cosmetic industry. It revealed the chief financial officer is listed as Hussein Lalani, a person who specialises in selling cosmetic treatments. Her latest outing saw her risk arrest for her continuous indecent public exposure. She once again wore an x-rated outfit with intention to shock fans. She left very little to the imagination in a pair of sheer pantyhose and a see-through black fishnet top. She shared three separate images of herself standing in the street in the fully see-through ensemble to her Instagram page. The Australian model and architect styled her black locks in a an edgy wolfe-cut and topped off the head-turning look with a pair of oversized sunglasses as she posed with her hands behind her back and her legs spread apart. Naturally, after sharing the three snaps, fans flocked to the comment section to discuss her latest outfit - or lack thereof. One user gawped: "God, I've just opened the Instagram app to see this," while another joked: "Sometimes less really isn't more." A third complained: "This girl needs to realise that there's much more to women than showing off every inch of your body in such a vulgar way. Where is the class and decorum? Not a good look." It's far from the first time Bianca had sparked outrage with her outfit choices. At the Grammy Awards ceremony back in February alongside Kanye, she shocked photographers on the red carpet. As she dropped her fur coat to reveal the naked dress. The stunt caused a mass reaction among fans. Some shared their concern for Bianca's welfare, claiming Kayne had forced her to do it.

Chicago police say an officer was accidentally shot and killed by her partner
A Chicago police officer was unintentionally shot and killed by her partner after they chased a suspect into an apartment and encountered another person with a rifle, officials said. Krystal Rivera, 36, a four-year veteran of the department, is survived by a 10-year-old daughter. The partner was the only person who fired a weapon, and the 'gunfire unintentionally struck Officer Rivera,' city police said in a statement Friday. An autopsy showed she was shot in the back. Rivera died at a hospital late Thursday, less than an hour after being shot. Colleagues had brought her to the hospital in a squad car that crashed and caught on fire due to a malfunction, according to Police Superintendent Larry Snelling. She was then transported in another squad car. The person who allegedly brandished the rifle was taken into custody, police said. They did not immediately say what charges the person would face. The shooting occurred just before 10 p.m. on Thursday as Rivera's tactical unit conducted a stop on someone suspected of having a weapon. A chase ensued that ended in the apartment. Investigators later found three weapons at the scene, police said. Snelling called Rivera 'young, vibrant and a hard worker.' Her mother told The Chicago Sun-Times that she had dreamed of being a police officer since she was young. 'For me, it's a privilege,' Rivera told the Sun-Times when she graduated from the academy in 2021. 'I come from a family of serving. To help people in need, that's my calling.'
