Iowa football and Hawkeyes chief of staff and general manager Tyler Barnes continue to turn over rocks during the spring transfer portal period.
Defensive back Gavin Edwards revealed that he had received an offer from Iowa on Friday. A 6-foot, 180 pound defensive back, Edwards spent 2024 at North Greenville University in South Carolina.

Edwards played in seven games, totaling 29 tackles and six pass breakups during the 2024 NGU season. The St. Stephen, S.C., product helped lead the Trailblazers to a 6-5 (4-3 Gulf South Conference) mark in 2024.
Edwards had transferred to Austin Peay where he spent the spring, but bigger offers have started to roll in since his reentry into the spring transfer portal.
In addition to Iowa, Edwards has picked up offers from schools such as Tulsa, East Carolina, Old Dominion, Ball State, Wake Forest and Maryland.

2026 4-star Texas A&M TE commit has shut down his recruitment

2026 4-star Texas A&M TE commit has shut down his recruitment Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is one of the hottest growing cycles in the country, already locking down two of the highest-ranked prospects in the class as four-star WR Aaron Gregory and four-star running back Jonathan Hatton have shut down their recruitment and future official visits, and will more than likely sign with the Aggies during Early Signing Day on December 4. Multiple players shutting down their recruitment is an impressive feat for any coaching staff, especially after A&M's 1-4 finish during the 2024 season, which has not affected the amount of recruiting talent that descended on College Station last weekend. On Monday, another 2026 commit who visited this weekend, four-star tight end Caleb Tafua, has joined Gregory and Hatton in shutting down his future visits. Tafua committed to the Aggies on December 1, 2024. OC Collin Klein's tight end-centric offense took center stage last season and is expected to be even more successful in the passing game in 2025, thanks to an influx of talent from the transfer portal and the 2025 signing class. For Tafua, his future as a hybrid tight end who could be an instant threat through the air is in College Station. Tafua has continued to garner attention from several programs, primarily due to his elite athletic profile as a standout basketball and volleyball player, which has enhanced his ability as a receiver, with impressive quickness evident in his route running. According to 247Sports, Tafua is currently positioned as the 13th-ranked tight end and the 28th-ranked prospect in California. 20226 3-star ATH out of North Forney (TX) has announced his commitment date

20226 3-star ATH out of North Forney (TX) has announced his commitment date Texas A&M is currently a finalist for several high-profile 2026 prospects, including one of the more underrated athletes in the cycle. Legend Bey, a 2026 three-star athlete and North Forney's (TX) standout dual-threat quarterback, is choosing between Tennessee, West Virginia, Duke, Ohio State, and Texas A&M. On Monday, the standout athlete revealed his upcoming commitment date. Taking to social media (X), Bey revealed that he will announce his commitment on Saturday, June 28, and while all five finalists have a shot at landing him, Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and his staff were one of the first Power 4 programs to recognize his talent and elite versatility, slightly similiar to sophomore wide receiver Terrry Bussey, who also played quarterback during his prolific high school career. On paper, running back or wide receiver is his likely position at the next level, and for those unaware of his skillset, all you need to do is turn on the tape. During his 2024 junior season, Bey rushed for 1,912 yards and 41 touchdowns, while throwing for over 1,400 yards and 13 touchdowns to boot. Bey's official visit to Texas A&M will take place on June 20, just eight days before his commitment, so it's safe to say that the Aggies are on the fast track to landing his pledge. According to 247Sports, Legend Bey is positioned as the 21st-ranked Athlete and 49th-ranked prospect in Texas. RGIII says quiet part out loud about Aaron Rodgers-led Steelers

Aaron Rodgers is a Pittsburgh Steeler — but that likely didn't change the recent 'standard' of mediocrity. For far too long, the Steelers have accepted first-round exits in the playoffs as long as HC Mike Tomlin achieves his winning season — and Robert Griffin III believes the Rodgers acquisition does nothing to alleviate these concerns. Advertisement RGIII argued on social media that despite the Steelers likely having a mediocre winning record either way, starting Mason Rudolph or Will Howard over Rodgers may have been the way to go: "The Pittsburgh Steelers flipped the script on the narrative for their season by signing Aaron Rodgers. 10-7, playoffs and early exit with Mason Rudolph or Will Howard at QB = Amazing job. 10-7, playoffs and early exit with Aaron Rodgers at QB = Fans calling for changes." Griffin hit the nail right on the head — as Tomlin was praised for taking the Big Ben-less, Devlin 'Duck' Hodges/Rudolph-led Steelers to an 8-8 record in 2019, but was criticized heavily for last year's 10-7 record under Russell Wilson at QB. Advertisement It's unlikely Steelers President Art Rooney II would pull the plug on Pittsburgh's head coach anytime soon — but no one can deny Tomlin now has sky-high expectations heading into the season.
