Bindi Irwin 'so lucky' as she shares health update after emergency surgery

Daily Mirror13-05-2025

Steve Irwin's daughter was forced to miss her dad's annual event when her appendix ruptured and she was rushed to the hospital
Steve Irwin's daughter, Bindi Irwin, thanked fans for their support as she shared a health update from the hospital after undergoing emergency surgery. The 26-year-old was in the US for her dad's annual gala, the Steve Irwin Gala, but was forced to miss it when her appendix ruptured after 'months of it grumbling'.
Her mum Terri Irwin also went with her to offer her support. In a new video update, Bindi spoke to fans as she lay down in a hospital bed while connected to drips. She revealed her appendix was removed, 14 endometriosis lesions were removed and a hernia was stitched up. Bindi told fans: "I just wanted to thank you so much for your incredible well wishes.

"I just got out surgery about an hour ago, I had my appendix removed. I also had 14 new endometriosis lesions that had to be removed. They kindly stitched up my hernia as well. I am forever grateful to Dr Seckin at Lenox Hill Hospital. Thank you guys for your kind words, for your support. I'm sorry if I sound a little out of it in this video."
Bindi continued: "I'm on the road to recovery one step at a time and I am so lucky to have so much love in my life from my beautiful family. Sending love and light your way and we'll get through this."
In the caption, the star wrote: "I am so thankful that I got the help I needed with Dr. Seckin and Dr. Chu at Lenox Hill Hospital. After many months of a grumbly appendix, I finally had to seek help the day of our Steve Irwin Gala.
"After consulting with Dr. Seckin, we agreed that if I flew to New York, he could also check for endometriosis again. Surgery was a success. My appendix was removed, along with another 14 lesions (after having 37 endometriosis lesions and a cyst removed two years ago). I also had a repair to a large hernia I acquired through childbirth four years ago.
"Thankfully, I am on the road to recovery. I appreciate all the kind messages I've received, and the support for our Gala in Las Vegas. Credit to Robert for hosting the evening, he did such an incredible job raising funds and awareness for Wildlife Warriors.

"And thanks to my family for always being there for me. I have so much love for dear Chandler & sweet Grace. Thank you to Mum for being there with me every step of the way. And rest assured, I'll see you at the next Steve Irwin Gala in Brisbane this November. One day at a time. Time to heal now. Sending my love to you all."
Bindi's brother Robert sent his support in the comment section, writing: "Stay strong Bindi! Love you!" Her mother Terri added: "Stay strong, sweet Bindi. I love you with all my heart, and I believe every day will be better."
Robert previously told People Magazine that Bindi 'wasn't ready for surgery' as she just came 'out the other side of endometriosis'.

Bindi has been open about her health over the years, revealing that she suffered from endometriosis. She said she went through ten years of pain and fatigue before finally receiving a diagnosis after surgery.
After surgery, the mum-of-one told her followers that doctors found 37 lesions and a cyst.

Meghan Markle's 'business like' approach to royal rift with Harry exposed

Meghan and Harry have been estranged from the Royal Family for five years, with the Duke of Sussex recently expressing his desire to reconcile with his relatives Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are said to take contrasting stances on managing their distance from the Royal Family. Reports have suggested that the Duchess of Sussex adopts a rather "business" mindset towards the situation. The duke and duchess stepped back from royal duties five years ago back in 2021, and carved out a new path in the US with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Since then, they have been attempting to launch their careers in new directions. ‌ Despite having levelled numerous critiques at the Royal Family over time, recently, Prince Harry has signalled his desire for reconciliation. ‌ New insights, however, suggest that while Meghan is very supportive of Harry's legal battles and the "painful rift" with his family, she is perceived as having a more pragmatic "business"-like perspective, reportedly wishing Harry could be less affected "by the past and more present in the life they've built together". It is believed that the Sussexes feel excluded from intricate royal affairs taking place in the UK, reports the Express. "They [Harry and Meghan] are aware of everything going on in England, but they're being left out of the details - there's clearly no trust," a source speaking to People magazine remarked. Finding it challenging to be fully informed about his father, Prince Harry reportedly struggles to receive precise updates regarding King Charles. Last month, the duke expressed to the BBC his concern over the lack of communication with his father and his uncertainty about the time the King may have left. ‌ Moreover, he voiced a hope for mending ties with his relatives, saying: "Of course, they will never forgive me for lots of things, but there's no point in continuing to fight anymore." Prince Harry expressed his desire for reconciliation, stating: "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point continuing to fight any more, life is precious." ‌ However, Sally Bedell Smith, a royal biographer, suggested that trust remains a significant hurdle. In an interview with People magazine, she revealed: "The King and William don't trust Harry and Meghan with any kind of confidential conversation." Valentine Low, another author, noted that although Harry's BBC interview wasn't intended as a direct attack on the Royal Family, "it would be seen as one," making it even more challenging for Charles to extend an olive branch. Elsewhere, the Duke of Sussex was reportedly left furious after the King and British officials caused "repeated delays" in issuing his children's passports, leading to a name change. ‌ Prince Harry allegedly considered changing his family name to Spencer following "repeated delays by British officials" in issuing passports for his children, Archie and Lilibet. The Duke of Sussex had reportedly "discussed the issue" with his late mother's brother, Earl Spencer. He allegedly "actively explored ways" to make the switch while in the UK, but it is said that "the legal hurdles were insurmountable". The claims have been rejected as "completely untrue" by sources close to the Sussexes, sparking debate among commentators who believe such a move could worsen tensions within the Royal Family.

Judge threatens to remove Sean 'Diddy' Combs from trial

Judge Arun Subramanian has threatened to kick Sean 'Diddy' Combs from his courtroom after he 'vigorously nodded' at jurors. The 55-year-old music artist is facing charges of racketeering, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution – he has denied all allegations against him. The hearings kicked off last month in New York, with his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and Kid Cudi among those who have taken the stand so far. As proceedings began earlier today, multiple outlets have reported that Diddy has been threatened with expulsion from the court for seemingly attempting to 'interact' with jurors. Speaking to Comb's attorney, the judge Subramanian said in court: 'Mr Agnifilo, your client was looking at jurors and nodding vigorously. 'This can't continue, or I will give a limiting instruction you won't like, or other measures, including barring your client from the courtroom. Do you understand?' Defence attorney Marc Agnifilo told the judge that it would not happen again. The judge then added: 'There should be no efforts whatsoever to have an interaction with this jury.' This comes just days after a screaming woman was removed from the trial after an explicit outburst. More Trending According to People Magazine, she could be heard screaming: 'These motherf**kers are laughing at you. 'You're laughing at a Black man's legacy.' Combs is thought to have remained seated during the incident, but turned around when Judge Subramanian ordered officers to remove the woman. Got a story? Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson ‘quietly split' after seven-year relationship

Chris Martin and Dakota Johnson have split after nearly eight years of dating, it has been claimed. The Coldplay frontman, 48, and the Fifty Shades of Grey actress, 35, were first linked in 2017, but have remained fiercely private of their relationship in that time. Last year, they were faced with intense speculation that they had gone their separate ways, but swiftly squashed the rumors. According to reports, the pair have now decided to call time on their seven-year, on-off romance for good. Multiple insiders confirmed the split to People Magazine, with one source stating: 'It feels final this time'. Dakota and Chris – who shares two children with ex-wife Gwyneth Paltrow – have yet to address the claims publicly. The couple sent fans into meltdown when they were spotted on a date night in LA nearly a decade ago, with the Madame Web star popping up in the crowd at a Coldplay concert the following month. In 2020, they were met with speculation of an engagement after she was pictured wearing a huge sparkler on that finger, but they refused to confirm reports at the time. Last year, Dakota gave a very rare insight into their private life in an interview, raving about how much she loves watching Chris perform on stage with his bandmates – having been spotted at numerous gigs in the past. 'I don't know. I love watching him. I could watch him every day,' she told Bustle of the Yellow singer's stage presence. 'I don't know how to explain it. I feel like, I don't know… I'm watching my most favorite being do his most favorite thing.' She also opened up about her bond with his children, Apple and Moses – who he welcomed during his marriage to Gwyneth, adding: 'I love those kids like my life depends on it. 'With all my heart.' Despite staying under the radar, they have faced scrutiny regarding their romance over the last few years – including the bizarre moment a struggling fan claimed that Chris told her that he's 'single' last spring. More Trending The generous singer took a moment to give the woman in question a lift at Radio 1's Big Weekend last May – and she later unpacked their 'nice chat' on Twitter, alleging that he claimed to be 'single'. Dakota quickly poured cold water on the reports when she was pictured taking in Coldplay's headlining set at Glastonbury from the side of the stage just a few weeks later. 'They've had ups and downs, but now they're definitely back on,' an insider told People Magazine at the time, adding that they were 'going strong'. Metro has contacted reps for Dakota and Chris for a comment. Got a story?
