Community Fibre broadband service restored after outage
Service has been restored to all customers of broadband provider Community Fibre following an outage on Monday, the company said.
The firm was hit by a problem late on Monday morning, with thousands of customers reporting being unable to access the internet.
At the time, the internet provider said it was 'working on a solution' and apologised to customers for the disruption.
Early on Monday evening, the company said it had now solved the issue and service had been restored to all its customers.
'The outage that affected many customers today has now been resolved,' a company spokesperson told the PA news agency.
'We apologise to all the customers that suffered a loss of service this afternoon.'
The company had previously confirmed engineers were continuing to work on the issue, but did not specify what had caused it.
Service status website Downdetector said Community Fibre users began reporting issues with internet access late on Monday morning, with the number of reports of an issue quickly spiking to over 10,000.
In a full statement published on its website, Community Fibre confirmed 'network issues' were 'affecting multiple customers'.
'Some customers may be experiencing disruption to their service,' the statement said.
'Our engineers are aware of this issue and working on a solution as their top priority.
'We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience.'
The broadband provider has more than 300,000 customers, mainly across London and the surrounding areas.
Many customers took to social media to report issues with the firm's service, with Community Fibre replying to some that it was working on a 'fix' as a 'top priority'.

Although the number of reports has started to drop, they continue to remain in the thousands. Massive Google Cloud outage disrupts popular internet services
Popular online services across the globe were disrupted Thursday due to ongoing issues at Google Cloud. Tens of thousands of users of Spotify, Discord and other platforms began noticing issues with their services early in the afternoon, according to Downdetector, which tracks outages. Outage reports for music streamer Spotify in particular, peaked around 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time before dropping off, and some users began saying their access was restored. Google's Cloud status page said an incident with their systems affected clients in the U.S. and abroad. The company also posted that services are starting to recover after its engineers identified and began to mitigate the issue. "We have identified the root cause and applied appropriate mitigations," Google Cloud said. It added that there is no estimate for when the issue would be fully resolved. Google Cloud, which hosts a significant amount of services on the internet, has become the fastest growing part of Alphabet Inc., even though the company still makes most of its money from Google's ubiquitous search engine. Google Cloud's revenue last year totaled $43.2 billion, a 31% increase from 2023. By comparison, Alphabet's overall revenue grew by 14% last year.

Internet outage hits US as users report popular sites are down
By Published: | Updated: A massive internet outage has hit the US, knocking dozens of popular websites offline. According to Downdetector, Google , YouTube , Etsy, Spotify and many others went down around 1pm ET. While thousands of Americans issued reports to Downdetector, the outage seems to be plaguing all parts of the globe. Users in the UK, parts of Europe, Canada and Asia are also having trouble accessing certain websites. The internet glitch seems to be caused by technical problems at Google Cloud, which runs much of the internet's behind-the-scenes infrastructure. 'Multiple [Google Cloud Platform] products are experiencing impact due to Identity and Access Management Service Issue,' Google's website reads. 'Our engineers are continuing to mitigate the issue and we have confirmation that the issue is recovered in some locations. We do not have an ETA on full mitigation at this point.' Cloudflare, a popular IT management company that provides hosting services, also said that it was having problems with Access logins and its Zero Trust WARP connection. 'Anyone know why pretty much the entire internet is down right now??? AWS, Google Cloud, Azure... all the cloud providers are down,' one user shared on X. Another user posted: 'How can Google Cloud, AWS, and Cloudflare all be down at the same time? 'These companies manage nearly 90 percent of all internet activities and applications.' Users have sited issues with apps, websites and service connection for the dozens that are down, according to Downdetector . Mehdi Daoudi, CEO of the data analytics company Catchpoint, said: 'This outage impacts tens of thousands of users across a wide swath of applications. 'It's a huge reminder that even hyperscalers like Google, AWS and Cloudflare are not immune to disruption. 'Outages like this reinforce the need for proactive monitoring, resilient architecture, and transparent communication. Interdependent, external observability is no longer a nice-to-have; it's essential.' Google Workplace services are also down, leaving users unable to access Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Docs, Meet, Task and Voice in the middle of a workday. Amazon Web Services' status appears to be optimal, but the Cloudflare dashboard is still showing a 'broad' service outage. 'We are starting to see services recover. We still expect to see intermittent errors across the impacted services as systems handle retried and caches are filled,' Cloudfare shared at 3:35pm ET. The company also said that 'a number of services are suffering intermittent failures' due to 'a third-party service that is a key dependency.' '[I] didn't realize how centralized the internet is around Cloudflare until it goes down,' an X user posted on the social media site.
