Kneecap lead Coachella crowd in anti-Margaret Thatcher chant
Kneecap took time out of their Coachella set earlier today to lead the crowd in a raucous rendition of a chant aimed at former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
The Irish rap group were joined by full-throated audience participation as they sang 'Maggie's in a Box' to the tune of KC and the Sunshine Band's 1983 hit 'Give It Up.'
The trio - Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap and DJ Próvaí - are longstanding critics of the former Conservative leader, who died in 2013.
In an interview with PoliticsJoe last year they were confronted with a social media post that stated: 'Mrs Thatcher will be remembered long after Kneecap are forgotten.' Móglaí Bap responded: 'That's true. She'll be remembered as a c***.'
Mo Chara added: 'She'll be remembered as a brutal b******.'
The group have a significant following in the United States, particularly after the success of their BAFTA-winning biopic. The film depicted their rise to fame and how they strived to bring the Irish language to a younger generation.
After winning the BAFTA for outstanding British debut in February, Kneecap director Rich Peppiatt dedicated the award to those who are fighting to 'have their homeland respected'.
"Everyone should have their language respected, their culture respected,' he added. 'This award is dedicated to everyone out there who's fighting that fight.'
Green Day will headline the Saturday night of the festival in Indio, California tomorrow.
Attendees at this year's festival had earlier complained about long queues and a lack of facilities, branding the experience of arriving at Coachella as 'worse than Fyre Festival.'
In addition to Kneecap and The Go-Go's, today will also see a headline set from Lady Gaga, who returns at the top of the bill after headlining the festival in 2017, and performances from Missy Elliott, rising pop star Benson Boone, The Marías, White Lotus star and BLACKPINK member LISA, The Prodigy, Parcels, Mustard, and Mau P.
Those not attending the festival in person can livestream performances on Coachella's YouTube channel or via the new Coachella Livestream app, beginning at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET each day.

Westlife star pulls out of 25-year celebrations after serious health issues leaving fans concerned
The band will continue on for their anniversary as a trio. Westlife fans have been left gutted after it was revealed that band member Mark Feehily will not be able to perform at the band's big 25th anniversary gigs as he continues to battle health issues. Mark was in the band with Nicky Byrne, Shane Filan and Kian Egan and the lads enjoyed huge success but in February 2024, he announced that he was taking a step back from the Irish boyband due to health issues. The last few years have been tough for Mark and in 2024, he underwent surgery to treat a hernia. A few years prior to that he was treated for sepsis during a Covid lockdown in August 2020. At the time of his operation last August, Mark was advised to recover and not go back on tour with Westlife as they headed off to Canada, the US, Mexico and Brazil, writes The Mirror. Many fans were hopeful that Mark would later be able to rejoin the group to mark their big anniversary, but he has now confirmed that he will be unable to attend. In a message shared on social media on Wednesday night, Westlife wrote: "To our amazing fans, We would like to take this opportunity to share some very important news with you all. "We are thrilled to announce the launch of our 25th Anniversary celebrations... On the 9th February 2001 we kicked off our first ever world tour at the Newcastle Arena. Who would have thought we would still be here 25 years later? "We have so many exciting plans to share with you very soon which will include new music, an album, special shows and many, many more surprises along the way. "Sadly, Mark will be unable to join the celebrations. We hope he can join us back on stage when he is ready and able. He sends his love and positivity to you all as always. "The four of us can't quite believe its been 25 years. We could only have dreamt of the continued love and loyalty you have consistently shown us around the world. We are so lucky to have all of you with us and we can't wait to celebrate together! Happy 25th To Us All! Love, Kian, Mark, Nicky & Shane x." In the comments sections of the post, fans had different opinions on the show doing on as a trio. One penned: "I don't know whether to cry with happiness that you're finally coming back for your 25th year anniv or sob at the fact that mark won't be joining you to celebrate it. I'm so overwhelmed…" "Love you guys... BUT, Westlife isn't Westlife without Mark. 3 just don't cut it," another wrote, with a third pondering: "I wonder if Bryan McFadden will possibly join them for some shows?" Brian McFadden was also a member of Westlife but quit the band in March 2004. Mark first opened up about his health struggles last year on Instagram, posting a statement on the band's official Instagram account, he wrote: "Hello and much love to you all! It's Mark here.. Most of you are aware that I have had some health challenges over the past while. It actually all started 3.5 years ago in August 2020 when I had surgery. Within a few days of this surgery I was in severe pain and was rushed into AandE." He continued: "I eventually ended that awful day in ICU (Intensive Care Unit) where I was informed that due to a complication with the surgery, I had developed severe "Sepsis", a life-threatening infection that would require immediate emergency surgery to rectify the problem and basically save my life. I spent the next few months in hospital. It was during lockdown. For months, due to strict Covid restrictions, I was not allowed any visitors including my fiance and my then 10-month-old daughter. It was physically and mentally a very difficult time, not to mention traumatic having to spend so long in ICU." Mark revealed that he was discharged from hospital in December 2020 but has since grappled with chronic health issues. He elaborated: "In late 2021, I became very ill in Newcastle before a concert and ended up back in AandE, this time being told I had pneumonia. I was told I had to go straight home to recover and regrettably miss the rest of the concerts that December. I was referred to a consultant who told me I needed more surgery which I went ahead with in May 2022 meaning I was forced to miss more of The Wild Dreams tour. "Three months after that surgery, I tried my best to soldier on for you guys and to go back on tour but unfortunately the physical demands of the concerts and extensive travel were proving too much for me. I developed a very large 'incisional hernia' and I was told that I needed further surgery to fix it. This would be my fourth major surgery since the start of it all, but I had no option." Fortunately, his most recent surgery was successful, however, Mark still needs time to recover. "It is with the utmost level of regret that I must now temporarily stand down from all Westlife touring until a time that I have had the chance to fully recover from the turbulent journey I have been through as an individual," he confessed. "Believe me, I wish things could be different! I would like to thank you so very much for your support and understanding of me and my health over the past few years." He expressed his gratitude towards his family and medical team for their support during his health struggles. Mark went on: "To Shane, Kian and Nicky, I love you three and I know you'll knock it out of the park. I'll be there with you in spirit for each and every show whilst you continue to fly the Westlife flag around the world." Openly acknowledging his current condition, he confided: "But for now, I have to make the right decision for my health and wellbeing, for my family, and for myself as a person. Please don't worry. Sending the most positive vibes in your direction, I will see you very soon beautiful people! WESTLIFE FOREVER! Love, Mark Feehily xx." Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community!

Sabrina also stunned in a cropped pink jacket and matching skirt. Sharing the news on Instagram, she said: 'This one's about you!! 'Manchild' is out this Thursday 6/5 8pm EST.' While Sabrina didn't explicitly say it was about Irish actor Barry – who is set to play Ringo Starr in the upcoming four-part Beatles biopic film series – fans wasted no time assuming it was about the pair, considering their split last year. Sabrina and Barry were first connected in September 2023, making their first public appearance together at the Grammys after-party in February 2024. The actor, who shot to fame in Saltburn and The Banshees of Inisherin, later had a starring role in her music video for Please Please Please, which depicts the story of a woman deciding to ignore warnings of a potential romance, but begging her love interest not to embarrass her. However, in August, The Sun on Sunday confirmed Sabrina dumped Barry after growing tired of his party lifestyle.

Not Going Out season 14 cast, episodes and format change as show returns to BBC
The new series of Lee Mack's beloved British sitcom is set to premiere this week The new series of Not Going Out is set to premiere this week. The show stars Lee Mack, who also created the series, as a fictionalised version of himself: an unambitious man in his late thirties living in a flat in the London Docklands. Lee soon becomes the lodger of his best friend Tim's (Tim Vine) sister, Lucy (Sally Bretton). The series chronicles the pair's ups and downs of living together and going from friends to one of TV's most popular couples. Premiering in 2006, Not Going Out has since become the second-longest-running British sitcom, behind Last of the Summer Wine - which ran from 1973 to 2010. Here's everything you need to know about season 14 of the hit sitcom, including release date, cast and episode details. When will the new series of Not Going Out be released? Not Going Out's 14th season will air on BBC One on Friday, June 13 at 9pm, with new episodes airing weekly. The entire season will also be available as a box set on BBC iPlayer. Who is in the cast of Not Going Out? As well as Lee and Lucy, it has been revealed that Mike Wozniak, Ray Fearon and Eileen O'Brien will appear in the first episode of season 14. It's not yet clear whether Lee and Lucy's friends, Anna (Abigail Cruttenden) and Toby (Hugh Dennis), or Lucy's parents, Wendy (Deborah Grant) and Geoffrey (Geoffrey Whitehead), will appear in the series. Lee Mack previously revealed that he did try to get Noel Gallagher to guest star in an Oasis-themed episode, but he didn't hear back. "I'd been listening to Rob Brydon's podcast, and he'd interviewed Noel," Lee explained. "I got Noel's number off him and sent him a text asking if he'd be on the show, but he never got back to me. It's been eight months now, so I think it's a no!" How many episodes are in Not Going Out season 14? The new series of Not Going Out consists of six episodes. They are titled House Move, Doll, Campervan, Oasis, Dragon Castle and Hotel Room. In the first episode, Lee and Lucy decide to move house and view the home of their dreams, but when Lee asks to use the toilet, tensions are created with the homeowner. Episode four sees the couple try to buy tickets to the Oasis reunion concert, but when they lose their place in the online queue, they quickly start to blame each other. The final episode of the series features Lee using his collection of free discount vouchers to stay overnight at a mid-range hotel. He makes sure to take advantage of all the hotel's complimentary services. What is the huge format change in Not Going Out? In 2017, the series featured a seven-year time-jump, with married couple Lucy and Lee moving out of their flat and into a house in Walton-on-Thames, where they were raising their three young children. Now, the show is changing again, with another time-jump seeing Lee and Lucy moving house, away from their family home which has become an "empty nest". The episodes will also be taking on a new format, with each instalment playing out in real time - something that has been done in previous episodes, but not in a consistent format. "What I'm trying to do is get the audience involved, to make them feel like they're witnessing an event that's happened. And hopefully that carries over when you're watching at home," Lee Mack explained.
