Warm and breezy Sunday with a chance of pop-up storms

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — We're warm and quiet to start this Sunday, but storm chances will return to finish off the weekend. Overnight lows have settled in the mid to upper 60s with partly cloudy skies kicking off this Sunday morning. Winds are light out of the southwest but will pick up later today. Highs will make a run for the upper 80s as winds gust as fast as 25 miles per hour at times. Our breezy and hot afternoon will also feature pop-up storms that will likely develop after 3 p.m. today. Storms will have the potential to pack a punch in the form of damaging winds and large hail. This threat will put us under a marginal and slight risk for severe weather today, with the highest threat sitting south and east of Uptown. Storms taper off tonight as lows fall into the upper 60s overnight. We'll be stormy and hot to kick off the work week as Monday continues our weekend summerlike pattern. Be on the lookout for another round of potentially severe thunderstorms to develop heading into Monday afternoon. Monday will see a slight risk for severe weather yet again, with the threat of storms present. We'll see lower storm chances throughout the week, but temperatures will stay locked in near 90 degrees through the weekend. Today: Mix of Sun & Clouds with Afternoon Storms. High: 88. Tonight: Partly Cloudy & Comfortable. Low: 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.

More summer heat before wet workweek ahead

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) – It's going to be a hot and humid day with only one or two pop-up thunderstorms developing in the afternoon hours. Highs reach into the lower 90s. Tonight, skies clear as temperatures settle in the 70s with high humidity. Patchy ground fog may develop but should not have any impact on the morning commute. Monday, a weak front will settle into place leading to increased rain chances. It arrives in the afternoon, so we will see very toasty and humid conditions for the first half of the day. By the afternoon, scattered storms will form up along the front. One or two of them may be strong or severe, with strong winds, hail, and a tornado possible. Overall, the severe threat remains low for Acadiana. In the tropics, no tropical development is expected through the next 7 days as dry air and wind shear prevents any tropical development from occurring. The rest of the upcoming week will see stormy periods each day as the weak front stalls across the region. This will lead to widespread heavy rainfall potential over 2 inches for many areas. The good news with the rain is that temperatures will be a bit cooler, with highs only in the upper 80s. Download the KLFY Weather App by clicking here. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
