imports in April fell 24.29% from March to 321,446 metric tons, the Solvent Extractors' Association of India (
SEA
) said on Wednesday.
Imports of soyoil increased 1.6% to 360,984 tons and sunflower oil imports fell 5.5% to 180,128 tons, the industry trade body said.

India services sector growth steady in May as demand remains strong, PMI shows
India 's dominant services sector maintained its robust growth in May, fueled by strong export demand and record hiring, although price pressures intensified, a survey showed on Wednesday. Companies attributed this sustained momentum to advertising efforts, positive demand trends and repeat business from existing clients. Growing price pressures could test monetary policy decisions for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), which has cut the repo rate by 50 basis points this year as inflation remains below its 4.0% target. The RBI is expected to cut rates by another 25 bps to 5.75% on Friday, according to a Reuters poll. Despite cost challenges, business confidence recovered from April's 23-month low, with companies expressing optimism about future growth based on their expanded workforces, larger client bases and ongoing marketing initiatives. Meanwhile, the HSBC India Composite PMI Output Index, which includes both manufacturing and services, eased slightly to 59.3 in May from 59.7 in April but indicated continued strong expansion in private sector activity.

Japan PM vows to 'energise' S. Korea cooperation under new leader Lee

Spats over territory and a bitter dispute over Japan's use of forced labour during its decades-long 20th-century occupation of the Korean peninsula have long strained ties between the two neighbours. But the countries became closer under South Korea's disgraced former leader Yoon Suk Yeol, including through three-way talks with joint ally the United States. "This year marks the 60th anniversary of the normalisation of diplomatic relations between Japan and Korea," Ishiba told reporters in Tokyo. "With President Lee Jae-myung, I would like to energise cooperation between Japan and South Korea as well as between Japan, the United States and South Korea." Ishiba added that "it would be good if we could hold a Japan-South Korea summit in the near future". Lee won a snap election held six months after a disastrous attempt to declare martial law by South Korea's ex-president Yoon plunged the country into political chaos. "There are various public opinions inside South Korea" towards Japan, Ishiba said.
