Started by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association (KHASA), the Shillong Teer lottery aims to inspire the younger generation to take up and play archery.
HOW TO PLAY SHILLONG LOTTERY?
The Shillong Teer Lottery features two fast-paced rounds, each lasting about two minutes.
In the first round, expert archers shoot 30 arrows, followed by 20 arrows in the second round.
Players pick a number between 0 and 99, trying to predict how many arrows will hit the target.
Winners are decided by how accurately they predict the number of arrows hitting the target.
Tickets are available at licensed counters in denominations of Rs 1, Rs 5, Rs 10, Rs 20, and Rs 50.
Prize amounts vary based on ticket price and prediction accuracy.
For example, correctly predicting the first round with a Rs 1 ticket wins Rs 80, while a right guess in the second round with the same ticket wins Rs 60. Predicting both rounds correctly with a Rs 1 ticket can earn you as much as Rs 4,000.

Another former sports minister, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, told parliament in 2021 that match-fixing was rife in the country. Aluthgamage was jailed for 20 years in an unrelated corruption case. Sri Lanka's 1996 World Cup-winning skipper Arjuna Ranatunga in 2012 urged fans to boycott matches in protest against what he called "mismanagement, corruption and indiscipline" in the national team.
