La Paulée just celebrated 25 amazing years of honoring Burgundy wines in San Francisco this March, and what a celebration it was! This iconic event brought together wine lovers, sommeliers, and collectors for an unforgettable tribute to some of the finest Burgundy vintages.
The spirit of Burgundy came alive as La Paulée returned to San Francisco in style, marking its milestone anniversary with plenty of generosity, community, and, of course, incredible wines. It's the ultimate event for wine enthusiasts—a chance to rub shoulders with renowned winemakers, top chefs, and passionate wine fans. From grand tastings to multi-course dinners and expert-led seminars, every experience was designed to showcase the magic and diversity of Burgundy wines.
Founded in 2000 by Daniel Johnnes, La Paulée takes inspiration from Burgundy's traditional post-harvest festival, La Paulée de Meursault. This centuries-old French tradition celebrates camaraderie and a shared love of wine, and La Paulée has brought that same spirit to a modern, global audience.

This year's 25th-anniversary event was something special. It wasn't just about the wines (though they were spectacular); it was about celebrating the people, stories, and traditions that make Burgundy such a cornerstone of wine culture.
La Paulée de Meursault, the festival's original muse, dates back to 1923 and is firmly established as one of Burgundy's most cherished wine traditions. It brings together winemakers and wine enthusiasts to celebrate the completion of the harvest, creating an atmosphere of warmth, gratitude, and shared joy.
When Daniel Johnnes began La Paulée in the U.S., his vision was clear—to capture the generosity and community spirit of the original and weave it into a series of luxuriously festive events. Over the past 25 years, La Paulée has grown into an internationally acclaimed celebration of Burgundy's rich wine culture.
"It was such a thrill to return to San Francisco in celebration of La Paulée's 25th anniversary. The enthusiasm for Burgundy was palpable all weekend. Thank you, San Francisco, for coming out for a convivial celebration!"
The 2025 La Paulée events spanned three cities across the U.S., with San Francisco shining as a standout destination. The week-long celebration of world-class experiences reached its pinnacle at the Gala Dinner, hosted in the stunning Conservatory at One Sansome Street. This unforgettable evening showcased culinary excellence with acclaimed chefs Michael Tusk and Charles Phan, complemented by the expertise of sommeliers Loris Anne Jones-Randolph and Elizabeth Harcourt.
The Gala Dinner brought together food, wine, and fellowship in a breathtaking display of culinary artistry and Burgundy's legendary winemaking tradition. Attendees mingled with producers, shared wines from their personal collections, and reveled in a dining experience that fully embraced Burgundy's convivial spirit.

Caught up in the vibe, I grabbed the unopened 2015 Clos Béru Chablis in front of me and tapped the woman two seats over on the shoulder. 'Mind showing me the proper way to open this bottle?' I asked with a grin. Before she could respond, the guy across from me froze mid-conversation, his eyes wide. 'Do you even know who that is?' he whispered, clearly horrified.
I glanced at him, then back at her, and smirked. 'Of course I do. I may be two glasses in, but I know exactly who she is—Athénaïs Béru, Owner/Winemaker of Château de Béru and the genius behind one of my favorite Chablis.'
The whole section erupted in laughter as Athénaïs stood up, her amused smile matching mine. We hugged, and naturally, I poured us both a glass of her wine. Because what's better than sharing a bottle with the winemaker herself?

Guests got a rare treat tasting different vintages from some of Burgundy's most iconic producers. These guided tastings were all about diving into the depth, complexity, and evolution of the region's legendary wines.
2. Incredible Dinners with Top Chefs:
The food was next-level, with culinary stars like Tusk and Phan creating stunning menus that felt like pure art. Every dish was perfectly paired with Burgundy wines, making each meal an unforgettable experience.
3. Burgundy's Best Wines:
Burgundy truly stands out as one of the world's top wine regions, and attendees got to experience it all. Producers like Domaine Dujac, Château de Béru, Domaine Anne Gros, and Champagne Salon brought their finest wines, sharing their craft and passion for a once-in-a-lifetime tasting experience.
4. A Sense of Community and Generosity:
One of the coolest aspects of La Paulée is how everyone brings wines from their personal collections to share alongside the winemakers' contributions. This spirit of generosity and a shared love for great wine created a warm, celebratory vibe that you just don't find at other festivals.
La Paulée isn't just a wine festival—it's the heart and soul of Burgundy brought to life. It's a way to connect two continents and bring together people who love the art of winemaking and the joy of sharing it. Every event is rich in tradition but always has something fresh and exciting to offer.
For 25 years, La Paulée has been celebrating Burgundy's wine culture here in the U.S., creating an unmatched experience for wine enthusiasts.

GOP's health care plan: We're all going to die, so whatever

If death and taxes are the only certainties, Joni Ernst is here to cut one and fast-track the other. 'We all are going to die," she said. You might think that's a line from a nihilistic French play. Or something a teenage goth said in Hot Topic. Or an epiphany from your stoner college roommate after he watched Interstellar at 3 a.m. But that was actually the Iowa Senator's God-honest response to concerns that slashing Medicaid to achieve President Trump's 'Big Beautiful Bill' would lead to more preventable deaths. The full exchange at a May 30 town hall included one audience member shouting at the stage, 'People will die!' And Ernst responding, 'People are not — well, we all are going to die, so for heaven's sake.' That's not a health care policy — that's a horoscope for the terminally screwed. As you can imagine, the internet didn't love it, because losing your health should not trigger the equivalent of a shrug emoji from someone elected to serve the public good. But rather than walking it back, Ernst leaned in, filming a mock apology in a graveyard because nothing says, 'I care about your future,' like filming next to people who don't have one. Ernst's comments aren't just philosophical musings. She's justifying policy choices that cause real harm. If passed, this bill would, according to the Congressional Budget Office, remove health coverage for up to 7.6 million Americans. That's not just 'we all die someday' territory. That's 'some people will die soon and needlessly.' What makes this even more galling is that the people pushing these cuts have access to high-quality, taxpayer-subsidized healthcare. Congress gets the AAA, platinum, concierge-level government plan. Meanwhile, millions of Americans are told to try their luck with essential oils or YouTube acupuncture tutorials. Honestly, it felt more like performance art than policy: 'Sorry about your grandma getting kicked out of her assisted living facility. Please enjoy this scenic view of her future! LOL!' We're not asking you to defeat death, senator. Death is both inevitable and bipartisan. But there is a broad chasm between dying peacefully at 85 and dying in your 40's because your Medicaid plan disappeared and your GoFundMe didn't meet its goal. Fundamentally, governing is about priorities. A budget is a moral document. When a lawmaker tells you 'we're all going to die' in response to a policy choice, they're telling you 'I've made peace with your suffering as collateral damage.' And if a U.S. Senator can stand in a cemetery and joke about it, you have to wonder — who do our federal legislators think those graves are for? This isn't just about one comment or one bill. It's about a mindset that treats healthcare as a luxury rather than a right. If death is inevitable, then access to healthcare you can afford is what helps determine how long you have, how comfortably you live, and whether you get to watch your kids grow up. Healthcare isn't about escaping death. It's about dignity and quality of life while we are here. Ernst got one thing right: death will come for us all. But leadership, real leadership, is about helping people live as long and as well as they can before that day comes. You want to make jokes, Senator? Fine. But if your punchline is 'You're all going to die anyway,' don't be surprised when your constituents realize the joke's on them.

Halle Berry Reveals How She Truly Feels About Teen Daughter Nahla's Next Chapter

Halle Berry is embracing big changes as her daughter Nahla prepares for college, completely focusing on her own daughters' growth instead of focusing on her leaving. In a recent interview with Today with Jenna & Friends via People, she talked about how her daughter, Nahla, is leaving for college. More from SheKnows Gordon Ramsay's Daughter HollyAnna Reminds Everyone of Model Status in Rare Bikini Snapshots 'She's 17. She's going to a college summer program, the college that she's hoping to go to next year. She's going away this year to the college summer program,' she said. She added, 'I'm not one of these moms that feels like, 'Oh, she's leaving.' Yes, will I worry? Of course. But am I excited for her to start her life and figure out who she's gonna be? Absolutey. I'm dying to see who she's gonna be and what she's gonna do and what she'll discover.' It's unclear which college she'll be attending, but it's clear Berry is her biggest supporter; which we love to see! Back in 2010, Berry started dating French actor Olivier Martinez after meeting on set of Dark Tide. Two years later, they got engaged in 2012 and married in 2013. They welcomed a son named Maceo-Robert in Oct 2013 (and Berry welcomed her daughter in 2008, named Nahla, with ex Gabriel Aubry). In a recent interview with SheKnows, Berry talked about her new movie, Never Let Go, and about being a mom. 'I became a mom 16 years ago and for the last 16 years, I have not slept the same,' Berry said. 'I've not had a good night's sleep for 16 years because of that maternal instinct and that mother's constant worry and care and concern for her children. I mean, once you become a mom or a parent you're forever changed and so that's the easy part of what I bring to these mom roles.'Best of SheKnows From Free-Range to Fully Offbeat, These Celebs Embrace Unconventional Parenting Styles These '90s Girl Names Are All That and a Bag of Chips 26 Stunning, Unique Jewelry Brands & Pieces for Teens

New on Netflix June 7-13: our TV expert picks 6 new movies and shows to stream this week

When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. It's documentary week over at Netflix — unofficially, I might add, but with the start of a two-month season of documentary films and several other high-profile non-fiction releases, it's a great time to catch up on events in the real world. I'm What to Watch's streaming editor and every week, I look through the list of what's new on Netflix to create a curated list of the new Netflix Originals you should be watching. I only include ones that would be worthy of our lists of the best Netflix shows and best Netflix movies, bringing you only the top picks. This week my list covers new uploads arriving between Saturday, June 7 and Friday, June 13, inclusive. If you like the sound of something, add it to your watchlist, but even if it's not out yet Netflix hosts landing pages to near releases which you can use to set a reminder for when it releases. The docu-craze isn't exclusive to Netflix with most other streaming services focusing on non-fiction. The reason is that, during the summer months, there's often a lull in fiction and drama releases, however I've also included a romantic sci-fi movie and an action series if you want something that's fictional. So let's find you something to watch on Netflix this week... Netflix begins a season of one-per-week documentary movies about headline events with The Astroworld Tragedy, about a well-reported tragedy from 2021. TAT tells the tale of the 2021 crowd crush at the Astroworld music festival which ended in the deaths of 10 people. It examines what happened from the perspective of survivors and first responders featuring plenty of interviews along the way. Releases on Tuesday, June 10 Next up we've got a 90-minute movie from Mexico that Netflix is billing as a sci-fi-rom-com. Our Times is about two married physicists in 1966 who are a bit too good at their job, and accidentally end up travelling to 2025. One loves the modern day yet the other wants to return to the past, and they have to question whether their marriage is worth more than living in the time they feel comfortable. Releases on Wednesday, June 11 Our next documentary of the week is a French docuseries about a worldwide topic. Ahead of release there's no word on how many episodes. Cocaine Air: Smugglers at 30,000ft is about four French people who were arrested at Punta Ana airport in 2013 after they were discovered smuggling 700kg of cocaine. While none of them fit the bill of a drug smuggling heavyweight and they all pleaded innocence as to the owner of the coke, it prompted officials to dig deeper into what was happening. Releases on Wednesday, June 11 Here's a new documentary which likely needs no introduction: Titan: The OceanGate Disaster is Netflix's long-awaited movie about the infamous OceanGate submersible implosion from 2023. Titan will tell the story of the OceanGate company as its figurehead Stockton Rush tried to pioneer the industry of deep-sea tourism. This culminates in the Titan sub's disappearance which the documentary will also explore in detail. Releases on Wednesday, June 11 For a hot minute in 2023, Netflix crowned Arnold Schwarzenegger its "Chief Action Officer" as the Governator seemed poised to renew his career on the streamer. In practice this only really resulted in his TV show Fubar which gets a second season this week. In Fubar, Schwarzenegger plays a retired CIA operative who comes in from the cold and is forced to team up with his estranged daughter and her team of strange characters. In season 2 he's forced to save the world from a past lover with a bone to pick, but this nemesis is just as interested in ruining his relationships as the world. Releases on Thursday, June 12 The latest international version of Netflix's Too Hot To Handle is here, and it features a cast of 10 Spaniards looking for romance... or something else. As always, Too Hot to Handle tasks unwitting contestants of a romance reality show with abstaining from physical affection. A grand sum is on the line but the amount will drop every time the contestants break the rules, and the series is no stranger to having every penny drained from the pot. Releases on Friday, June 13
