Amethi police launches hi-tech e-Malkhana system for seized items

The Print28-04-2025

'With this new system, the status of any seized item stored in the malkhana can be checked simply by scanning a QR code using the e-Malkhana mobile application,' she said.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Superintendent of Police (SP) Aparna Rajat Kaushik claimed this is the first system of its kind in the state, operating through QR codes.
Amethi (UP), Apr 28 (PTI) Taking the tech route, the Amethi police have launched a digitalised e-Malkhana at the Mohanganj police station to manage and maintain seized items more efficiently.
SP Kaushik explained that the initiative was taken to improve the storage and management of items seized during police operations, which were previously kept in a disorganised manner across police stations in Amethi.
The project has been launched first at the Mohanganj station.
'Seized materials have now been systematically organised on separate racks according to the year of seizure,' Kaushik said.
'Each item is linked and digitalised through a unique QR code.' Detailing the process, she said sealed items received at the station are now stored in transparent plastic containers. The details of each case, along with photographs of the seized items, are fed into the e-Malkhana app, which automatically generates a QR code displaying comprehensive information such as the code number, police station name, case number, type and quantity of the item, relevant legal sections, item status, and the name of the officer who submitted it.
'This QR code is printed and attached to the item, which is then stored systematically in the racks based on the year. Anyone wishing to view the details of the seized items can simply scan the QR code using the e-Malkhana application on a mobile phone,' she added. PTI COR KIS DV DV

‘Spyware-like' apps found in phone of Nagpur woman who crossed over to Pak: Police

'Police have found multiple suspicious applications in her phone which are suspected to be spyware. These apps are being analysed to determine their purpose and origin,' an official of Kapilnagar police station here said. The 43-year-old woman's act of entering Pakistan has sparked security concerns with agencies probing possible espionage links, they said. Nagpur, May 5 (PTI) Police have found suspicious spyware-like applications in the mobile phone of Nagpur-based Sunita Jamgade, who has been held on espionage charges after she crossed over to Pakistan last month before being repatriated, officials said on Thursday. 'Authorities are probing whether she had any accomplices who facilitated her journey to Pakistan or supported her communication channels. The truth behind her motive, the apps and the nature of her chats will only come to light after a detailed forensic and intelligence investigation,' he said. Jamgade had reportedly crossed into Pakistan from Hunderman village in Kargil, which is part of Ladakh union territory. She had left Nagpur with her 13-year-old son on May 4 and reached Kargil, from where she crossed over to Pakistan on May 14, police have earlier said. She had allegedly left behind her son in a hotel before crossing the Line of Control (LoC). Pakistani forces apprehended her after she crossed the border, and held her in custody until she was officially handed over to Indian authorities, they said. Preliminary investigation has revealed that Jamgade was in contact with two Pakistani nationals, identified as Zulfekar and Pastor, before her disappearance. A zero FIR was filed by the Amritsar police, which was later transferred to the Kapil Nagar police station in Nagpur, where she resides, according to them. A team from Kargil in Ladakh also arrived in Nagpur on Monday night to probe the case. PTI COR NP This report is auto-generated from PTI news service. Security forces kill top Maoist leader Sudhakar in Bijapur, 4th to be eliminated this year

The overall casualty in the operation is yet to be determined, officials said to ThePrint, requesting anonymity. The senior Maoist cadre has been identified as Tentu Laxmi Narsimha Chalam, alias Goutham or Sudhakar (66). The exchange of fire was still underway till Thursday afternoon, but forces recovered his body during a brief search operation. New Delhi: In another major success in the ongoing anti-Naxal operations, security forces Thursday killed another member of the Central Committee of the banned Communist Party of India (Maoist) in the national park area of Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district, ThePrint has learnt. Sudhakar, a native of Andhra Pradesh's Eluru district, was recently promoted as a central committee member and was in-charge of the education department of the banned outfit, show police records. He had joined the Maoist outfit back in 1995 and was also in-charge of its Kranthi magazine in the Central Regional Bureau, a key coordinating body within the CPI-Maoist. Thursday's encounter was launched based on verified inputs on the presence of senior Maoist cadres including Sudhakar, one Telangana State Committee member Bandi Prakash, and Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member Pappa Rao in the national park area, said Bastar Range IG Sundarraj Pattilingam in a statement. 'The inputs indicated the presence of Central Committee member Gautam @Sudhakar, Telangana State Committee member Bandi Prakash, Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member Pappa Rao, and a few other armed Maoist cadres. Acting on this input, joint troops of STF/ DRG and CoBRA were launched for the search in the area,' he said. 'Preliminary reports suggest a strong possibility of major success for the security forces in the ongoing anti-Naxal operation in the National Park area of Bijapur,' he added. Sudhakar has become the fourth central committee member of the Maoist to have been eliminated so far this year. This comes just a fortnight after the security forces killed Nambala Keshava Rao, alias Basavaraju, the general secretary and the chief of the CPI (Maoist). Before Basavaraju was killed in an encounter in the Abujhmad forest by a joint team of District Reserve Guards (DRGs) from Narayanpur, Bijapur, and Dantewada, security forces had also eliminated Chalapathi on the Chhattisgarh–Odisha border in Gariaband district in January. Another central committee member Prayag Manjhi was killed in April in Jharkhand's Bokaro district by forces composed of troops from Jharkhand Special Task Force and CRPF.
