Western Rajasthan to remain dry the rest of the week; heat likely to soar
From Saturday, there is a possibility of light rain at sporadic places in the Udaipur Kota division, with the weather likely to remain mainly dry in most of the remaining parts.

Jaipur, Jun 5 (PTI) Weather is likely to remain dry for the next 4-5 days in western Rajasthan, with the temperature increasing by 4-6 degrees from Friday, the MeT department said.
A Met official said the maximum temperature in the Bikaner division may go up to 44-45 degrees Celsius during the weekend, with the likelihood of the onset of a heatwave at some places from June 8.
No major rainfall was recorded today from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm in the major cities of the state.
The maximum temperature in the state was recorded at 41.8 degrees in Jaisalmer, and 41.2 degrees each in Barmer and Phalodi.
In the last 24 hours till 8.30 am on Thursday, the state witnessed a maximum rainfall of 36.7 mm in Pilani.
Chidawa, Buhana and Surajgarh in Jhunjhunu, Phulera in Jaipur and Bidiyasar in Churu recorded 30 mm rainfall each during the period. Several more places recorded 10 to 20 cm of precipitation.
The average humidity was recorded between 50 to 80 per cent in most parts of the state. PTI AG VN VN

The day temperature in Bhopal on Friday was recorded at 38.3 degrees Celsius, two degrees less than the normal for this time of the year, while night temperature in the city was 23.2 degrees Celsius, four degrees less than the normal mark. In the forecast for Bhopal on Saturday, the meteorological dept stated there would be partly cloudy sky with chances of thundery development in the afternoon and evening hours. Day and night temperature would be respectively 39 degrees celsius and 24 degrees celsius while average wind speed will be 20 kilometers per hour. In the forecast for the state, the dept issued warning of thunderstorm with lightning or gusty wind 40 kmph-50 kmph at isolated places in Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopurkalan, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh and Niwari dists. Mercury to rise by 2-3C in next 2-3 days: IMD
1 2 Bhubaneswar: Day temperature would rise by 2-3 degrees Celsius in the state during the next three days from Saturday with no relief from continuing hot and humid conditions in several coastal districts for at least four days, IMD said on Friday. Manorama Mohanty, scientist and head of the regional IMD centre here, said that little change in prevailing wind pattern supported the rise in day temperature. Mohanty said there are no signs of further advancement of monsoon in the coming one week. "Southwest monsoon, which arrived 15 days before its scheduled date, has only covered parts of south Odisha," Mohanty said, adding that monsoon generally arrives in the state after June 10. However, she said thunderstorm activity with lightning or gusty surface wind would continue in some districts. Light to moderate rain or thunderstorm continued in some districts on Friday and in the last 24 hours. Chandbali recorded highest 75.6 mm of rainfall, followed by Jagatsinghpur with 39.4 mm on Friday. The city recorded 1.2 mm of rain. Similarly, Purushottampur in Ganjam district received the highest 46.8 mm of rain in the last 24 hours. On Saturday, thunderstorm activities are likely in five south Odisha districts. Hot and humid conditions would continue in the 11 coastal districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati, the IMD forecast said.
