THE PARTY'S HERE! PARAMOUNT+ ANNOUNCES CANADA'S FIRST-EVER MTV SHORE FORMAT, CANADA SHORE (wt)

Casting is Now Open to all Canadians Until April 30, 2025
Produced by Canada's Insight Productions
TORONTO, April 8, 2025 /CNW/ -- Get ready, Canada 'it's t-shirt time'! Paramount+ announced today that casting is now open for the first-ever Canadian iteration of the smash-hit, international MTV reality 'Shores' franchise: CANADA SHORE (working title). The series is set to film in Summer 2025 and will be produced by Canada's Insight Productions.
Paramount+ in Canada is looking for ten fresh-faced, unapologetically wild Canadian singletons who embody the 'Shores' spirit. Together, they'll unite to make one big, imperfect family, ready to experience the most unforgettable, unfiltered summer of their lives. Nationwide casting is now open, and Canadians can apply HERE until April 30th.
The original series, JERSEY SHORE, was a pioneering cultural phenomenon that Canadians embraced. It launched the career of several fan-favorite, party-going housemates, including Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino; Paul DelVecchio a.k.a DJ Pauly D; Jenni 'JWOWW' Farley; Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi; Sammi 'Sweetheart' Gia; Deanna Cortese; Ronnie Ortiz-Magro; Angelina Pivarnick; and Vinny Guadagnino. Including the new Canadian version, the format has now spawned 18 spin-offs, with recent additions being AUSSIE SHORE and FRENCHIE SHORE.
'Canadians have loved this fun, shocking, and authentic format since JERSEY SHORE first debuted in 2009,' said Vanessa Case, Vice President of Content at Paramount+ and Pluto TV Canada. 'We're confident audiences will embrace this Canadian iteration, with its larger-than-life personalities, raw drama, and those unforgettable moments that define what becoming a Shore family is all about.'
Kelly Bradshaw, EVP, MTV Entertainment Group added: 'We are incredibly proud of how the 'Shores' franchise continues to expand around the world. Each new series is a testament to this tried-and-true format's global appeal, inviting new, local viewers into the 'Shores' universe whilst enticing long-standing fans back for a fresh take on it – and we're sure Canada won't disappoint.'
'Canadians may have a reputation for being polite, but we can be just as feisty, loud, dramatic, and unapologetic as anyone else,' said Erin Brock, showrunner on Canada Shore (wt) and Co-Chief Content Officer at Insight Productions. 'And Insight is on the hunt for the wildest, most outrageous young Canadians who want to party with their future chosen family this summer. We're beyond excited to team up with Paramount+ and can't wait to introduce Shore fans worldwide to a bold new crew!'
Paramount+ in Canada is currently home to AUSSIE SHORE, as well as being the streaming destination for all seasons of JERSEY SHORE and JERSEY SHORE FAMILY VACATION.

One of Taylor Sheridan's best Paramount+ shows is getting a spinoff set in New Orleans

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, BGR may receive an affiliate commission. If you've been enjoying the rugged and unapologetically ridiculous mob drama that is Tulsa King, then you're in for a treat — Paramount+ is getting ready to expand the show's universe with a spinoff set in New Orleans, and Samuel L. Jackson is stepping in to lead the charge. Variety reports that Jackson is attached to star in and executive produce the new series, the working title of which is NOLA King. Which, I don't know about you, but already conjures up for me an image of Jackson in a stylish blazer, pacing the French Quarter with a cigar in one hand and a cane in the other. Today's Top Deals Best deals: Tech, laptops, TVs, and more sales Best Ring Video Doorbell deals Memorial Day security camera deals: Reolink's unbeatable sale has prices from $29.98 While Paramount+ hasn't shared much beyond the basics, here's what we do know: Jackson will reportedly guest star in the upcoming third season of Tulsa King, setting up his own series in the process. NOLA King will follow a character comparable in vibe to Sylvester Stallone's Dwight Manfredi — meaning, Jackson will play a larger-than-life figure with a past, a purpose, and probably a handful of quotable threats up his sleeve. Specific plot details are still under wraps, but if it's anything like Tulsa King, expect the tone to lean more toward campy crime caper than prestige television. Not that that's automatically a bad thing. It's not going to win any critical acclaim anytime soon, but fans like me don't care; Tulsa King remains one of my favorite guilty pleasures on TV. Not every show has to reinvent the wheel or leave reviewers spellbound, and Tulsa King doesn't pretend to be anything it's not. Who cares that the premise — Stallone, at 76, playing a mafia boss who decamps to Oklahoma to set up shop — is just south of plausible? The show nevertheless leans in with total confidence, like a guy at the blackjack table who's already smashed and still playing five hands at once. It's the streaming equivalent of good old fashioned comfort food. I say all that because this New Orleans spinoff, if it keeps that same spirit, could end up being a blast. Think Tulsa King but with more jazz, maybe some voodoo references, and Samuel L. Jackson probably yelling at someone while wearing a cool hat. And while Paramount+ hasn't revealed any other specifics regarding NOLA King just yet, Season 3 of the OG series — which will serve as the launchpad for Jackson's character — is already in production. Honestly, if the spinoff gives me even half the unhinged joy of watching Stallone shake down a weed dispensary, I'll definitely be all in. And so will quite a few other viewers, I imagine. 'This show, like every other Taylor Sheridan-produced show, is going to be a hit,' TV industry commentator and critic Dan Barrett wrote in his Always Be Watching email newsletter Thursday. 'People will talk about it. And viewers will be there for it.' Shuttered auction house faces million-dollar comic book lawsuit

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — A Cranston auction house has been tied up in a lawsuit for years after a Canadian comic book collector says thousands of his valuable collectibles seemingly disappeared without fair compensation. In 2020, Bernie Arsenault filed a lawsuit in federal court that names Kevin Bruneau, Travis Landry and Ashle Tortolani from Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers as defendants. Arsenault says he hired the auction house to sell 42,400 of his comic books in 2018, after Landry's multiple appearances on 'Antiques Roadshow' as an expert appraiser convinced him of Bruneau & Co.'s prominent reputation. According to Arsenault, Bruneau told him it would take three or four years to sell the entire collection. 'He said, 'You know, this would be like an annuity,'' explained Arsenault. He told Target 12 he was planning on using the money for his retirement. The lawsuit alleges Arsenault entered into a consignment contract with the company under which they would sell his comic books and keep 25% of the profit, while the remaining money after fees and costs would go back to Arsenault. For a while, he said, 'Everything seemed to be good.' Court documents show that Arsenault received more than $10,000 in checks from the auction house between 2018 and 2020. But the collector became suspicious when some of the checks didn't have any information about which specific comic books were sold and for what price. At first, he sent a letter to Bruneau & Co. asking the company to terminate their contract and send the remaining comic books back to him. When that didn't work out, he decided to file the lawsuit. 'At first it was the monetary, but at this stage of the game, it's now just about justice,' he said. Bruneau's attorney, Stephen Levesque, disputes the allegations made against his client and says Bruneau followed the terms of the agreement. Levesque says the company sold some of the books at a handful of auctions and sent the remaining books back to Arsenault. Levesque also claims that the collection was not worth $1 million as Arsenault claims, valuing it instead around $20,000. The lawsuit was scheduled to go to trial this year, but Bruneau filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in February, which put the trial on hold. Target 12 found more than 50 creditors listed on the filing, which claims Bruneau owes more than $700,000 — mainly to people who consigned with him. READ THE STORY: Local auctioneer files for bankruptcy, still owes consignors around $700K In a recent interview, Sheldon Stowe said he hired the auction company to sell 20 of his father's antique guns, but was never paid. 'It's a sad thing. I know that I didn't lose as much as other people,' Stowe said. Linda Bowers also relied on the auction house to sell her father's antique guns last summer and didn't receive the $3,200 payment that she was owed. 'It's time-consuming and it's frustrating,' she said. Target 12 reached out to Landry and Tortolani for a comment, but hasn't heard back. The bankruptcy case is still ongoing, but those typically take months. Once Bruneau & Co.'s bankruptcy is finalized, Arsenault's case will likely go to trial.
