Kim Kardashian sparks backlash as she stars as lawyer in huge new legal drama

Daily Mirror14-05-2025

The first photos from Hulu drama All's Fair have been released today along with a teaser trailer but while Kim Kardashian is a huge name, some fans aren't happy
Potential viewers have been less than impressed by the poster for Ryan Murphy's latest Hulu series All's Fair as it was released today, with Kim Kardashian pictured leading the charge. The reality star-turned-actress stars as Allura Grant, a high-powered divorce attorney at the helm of an all-female law firm in the glossy legal drama.
Joining her on screen is a formidable line-up of talent, including Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, Sarah Paulson and, most notably, Oscar nominee Glenn Close. The series follows a group of women who leave a male-dominated legal firm to launch their own powerhouse practice. The official synopsis teases courtroom fireworks, personal rivalries and more than a few scandalous secrets.

According to the show's official synopsis, the women "navigate high-stakes breakups, scandalous secrets, and shifting allegiances - both in the courtroom and within their own ranks. In a world where money talks and love is a battleground, these women don't just play the game - they change it."

Produced by 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television, the series marks Murphy's first major project under his new deal with Disney after departing Netflix.
The writing and executive producing team includes Jon Robin Baitz, Joe Baken, Jamie Pachino, Lyn Greene, and Richard Levine. Directing duties are shared with Anthony Hemingway, who also serves as executive producer, as do Kardashian, Close, Watts, Nash-Betts, and Paulson.
But while the star-studded teaser trailer has generated considerable buzz, not everyone is thrilled with the show's promotional materials.
The poster has sparked a backlash on social media, as Kim Kardashian takes precedence in it, while veteran actress Glenn Close is pushed into the background.

"In what world, though, is Glenn Close BEHIND Kim Kardashian," one fan fumed on X, adding: "I want names and badge numbers. I don't care if she's in one episode for five minutes, you put Glenn Close front and centre."
The teaser trailer, however, hints at a meaty role for Close, who plays fierce legal strategist Dina Standish. In one standout moment, she instructs a client: "Get mad! Get hot! Get revenge!"
Meanwhile, Kardashian can be seen delivering a poised performance as Allura, coolly addressing a cocky husband during a tense meditation saying: "You're right. Everything we're going to show you today, you should be intimately familiar with."

The role may resonate with Kardashian on a personal level, as her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., was famously part of O.J. Simpson 's defence team during his 1995 murder trial.
Another striking moment from the trailer featured Judith Light declaring: "You know what a woman's best friend is? Not diamonds. Her lawyers."
Kim Kardashian is best known for starring in reality show Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but she previously played a scripted role in one of Ryan Murphy's other shows, American Horror Story. In Delicate she played the supporting character Siobhan Corbyn, who is the best friend of female lead Anna Victoria Alcott.

President Trump reveals whether he'd pardon Diddy if mogul is convicted in sex trafficking trial

Mia says Diddy sexually assaulted her at his star-studded 40th birthday party Mia told the court that she was first sexually assaulted by Diddy during his 40th birthday party in 2009 at the Plaza Hotel in New York City, which was attended by many celebrities like Bono, Denzel Washington, Kim Kardashian, Gayle King and Al Sharpton. She said the mogul approached her in the kitchen and complimented her on her work before pouring shots for her. 'I felt like they hit me kind of hard,' she said of the drinks. 'I was in my 20s in New York. Two shots would not have made me feel that way.' Mia told the jury what happened next: 'He was talking and all of a sudden his face [was] far closer, my eyes couldn't focus on his face because it was so close. 'I didn't really know what was happening... he put his am next to my head against the wall and leaned in to kiss me and put his other hand up the side of my dress.' Mia said she did not want to kiss Diddy or have his hand up her dress. 'I was shocked and I froze. I didn't even process what was happening,' she added. The next morning, she woke up clothed on a chair in the mainroom of the penthouse Diddy had rented. Martha Stewart takes a picture of Diddy at the party below. Kim Kardashian and Kris Jenner.

Actor Florence Pugh pours pints at London pub with singer Yungblud

The 29-year-old appeared at The Devonshire in Piccadilly on Friday, where she was seen working behind the bar and chatting with customers, after starring in a music video for the singer's Zombie single. Pugh was cheered after pouring a perfect pint of Guinness before asking 'whose is this?', and later remarking 'I'm sorry' after pouring a less impressive drink. In another clip, she can be seen learning to pour pints with a member of staff, describing her own first attempt as 'a bit lumpy'. It comes after Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, turned up at Camden's Hawley Arms to put in a shift behind the bar earlier this year. The 27-year-old released his music video for Zombie, taken from his forthcoming fourth studio album, Idols, on Friday, with the album due for release on June 20. Oscar-winner Pugh stars in the video as a health worker on the brink, who is dealing with grief and exhaustion, wearing a set of angel wings. Speaking about the video, Yungblud said: 'The song was written initially about my grandmother going through serious injury and trauma, leading her to become a different person to who she was before. 'It's about the feeling of deterioration and ugliness; shutting out the world and the people we love out of the fear of becoming a burden or an embarrassment. 'We all want someone or something to comfort us no matter how we are right now or who we become in the future. But it's f****** scary.' Pugh most recently starred in Marvel's Thunderbolts, which was released earlier this year, and sees the British star play Yelena Belova. She is also known for her roles in Little Women (2019), Don't Worry Darling (2022), and Dune: Part Two (2024), and previously appeared in Rachel Chinouriri's music video for Never Need Me. Yungblud has had two number one albums in the UK chart with Weird!, in 2020, and his self-titled album in 2022. Earlier in the year, he received the disruptor of the year award at the Nordoff And Robbins Northern Music Awards, held in Liverpool.
