Amazon India
on Sunday announced the launch of at-home diagnostics services across six major cities, marking an expansion of its healthcare offering under the Amazon Medical umbrella.
The new service, called Amazon Diagnostics, allows users to book lab tests, schedule appointments, and access digital reports through the Amazon app.
It is being launched in collaboration with Orange Health Labs, and is initially available in Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad, covering over 450 PIN codes, the company said in a statement, PTI reported.
The diagnostics platform offers over 800 tests and doorstep sample collection within 60 minutes, according to Amazon.
'With this addition, Amazon has now integrated its pharmacy and clinic services under Amazon Medical,' the company stated, noting that the expansion builds on the foundation of Amazon Pharmacy and Amazon Clinic.
Amazon Pharmacy provides access to prescription medications and healthcare essentials, including free telemedicine consultations and delivery benefits for both Prime and non-Prime members. Meanwhile, Amazon Clinic allows customers to consult licensed doctors digitally for a range of primary care needs.
This integrated approach, Amazon said, is aimed at providing customers with a seamless and comprehensive digital healthcare experience from consultation to medication and diagnostics — all through a single platform.

Aiation oversight revamp: DGCA rolls out ‘360-degree' special audits; multi-disciplinary teams to inspect airlines, airports, MROs

AI image Seeking to plug systemic safety gaps exposed by recent accidents, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has introduced a special-audit framework that promises a 360-degree evaluation of India's entire aviation ecosystem, replacing the existing 'silo' style of inspections. In a circular dated June 19, the regulator said the new mechanism transcends the current domain-wise checks undertaken by separate directorates and 'will focus on examining safety-management systems, operational practices and regulatory adherence across all aviation domains.' The initiative comes a week after the fatal crash of an Air India Ahmedabad–London Gatwick flight shortly after take-off, which killed all 241 people on board along with several on the ground, PTI reported. The special audits cover: All operators: scheduled, non-scheduled and private airlines MROs : maintenance, repair and overhaul organisations Training entities: approved training organisations (ATOs) and flying training organisations (FTOs) Air-navigation and airports: the Airports Authority's ANSP wing, aerodrome operators and ground-handling agencies These checks, DGCA said, will be in addition to the routine audits in its annual surveillance programme. Multi-disciplinary teams Each special audit will be led by a senior official at the level of Deputy Director-General or Director, backed by experts drawn from Flight Standards, Air Safety, Airworthiness, Licensing, Aerodrome Standards and Air Navigation Services. The risk-based, integrated approach should 'proactively identify systemic vulnerabilities, enhance resilience and ensure strict adherence to ICAO standards,' the circular noted. Traditionally, DGCA's oversight functions were 'conducted in silos, with different directorates performing inspections specific to their domains,' the circular said. The new framework will 'generate a 360-degree evaluation' that highlights both strengths and weaknesses of the sector. India is among the world's fastest-growing aviation markets, making the overhaul critical for sustaining safety as traffic rises, the regulator added. Air India now cuts single aisle flights by 5% 'at least' till mid July

NEW DELHI: After a 15% cut in wide body flights, Air India Sunday said it is temporarily reducing narrow body operations by about 5% till at least July 15, 2025. AI uses its Airbus A320 family of single aisles mostly on domestic and nearby international routes. Three daily flights — between Bengaluru & Singapore (AI 2392/2393), Pune & Singapore (AI 2111/2110) and Mumbai & Bagdogra (AI 551/552) — have been suspended till July 15. 'This voluntary decision leads to the temporary suspension of Air India's services on three routes and reduction of frequency on 19 routes. The changes are effective until at least July 15, 2025. These reductions are aimed at strengthening Air India's network-wide operational stability and minimising last-minute inconvenience to passengers. Despite these temporary reductions, Air India will continue to operate close to 600 daily flights with its narrowbody aircraft on 120 domestic and short-haul international routes,' AI said in a statement. 'Air India apologises to the passengers affected by these curtailments and is proactively contacting affected passengers to offer re-accommodation on alternative flights, complimentary rescheduling or full refunds as per their preferences…. We remain committed to restoring our full schedule as soon as practicable, while at all times prioritising the safety of our passengers, crew and aircraft,' it added. (File) Israel-Iran war: Iran has shown unprecedented resilience despite being pummeled by US-backed Israel, and now the US itself, in the ongoing Israel-Iran war. Tehran has proven it does not fear any country or grouping, including the United States, Israel, G7, European Union, or NATO. However, there is one important grouping that impacts Iran's decisions, at least to some extent, the OPEC+, which includes Iran and 22 other crude oil-producing nations, most of them located in the Middle East. According to estimates, OPEC+ produces more than half of the world's total oil crude oil, with Iran being one of the largest oil-producing countries in the group. What is OPEC+ and how it influences Iran? Unlike the EU, NATO, BRICS, or G7, OPEC+ is not political, diplomatic or military alliance, but an economic grouping of major oil-producing nations, especially the oil-rich Gulf states of the Middle East. OPEC+ produces more than half of the world's crude oil, and essentially controls global oil prices, making it a powerful entity that can put pressure on nations by weaponizing oil prices. Saudi Arabia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), are the arguably the most influential countries in the OPEC+. Other oil-producing nations which are part of the group include Iraq, Kuwait, Venezuela, Nigeria, Libya, Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Congo, Gabon, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Brunei, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Malaysia, South Sudan, Sudan and Oman. All these nations have vast reserves of oil and natural gas worth billions, if not trillions of dollars, and oil-production is a major contributor to their economies. How much oil is produced by Iran? Iran's daily oil production was an estimated 2.5 million barrels in March 2023, but this has increased to 3.3 million barrels, as per a recent Reuters report. More importantly, Iran controls the Strait of Hormuz, through which more than half of the global supply of oil is shipped. Iran can trigger a global crisis if it decides to blockade this strategic shipping lane. Can the OPEC+ stop the Israel-Iran war? While Iran is not 'scared' of any country or alliance, the OPEC+ countries, most of whom have assured their tacit support to Tehran in the Israel-Iran war, hold some influence on the decisions made by the Islamic Republic. Experts believe Iran would not brush aside any mediation efforts or advice, and can play a key role in resolving the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict. Among non-OPEC countries, Iran also has the support of Russia, China, and Pakistan in the current conflict. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin told OPEC+ that the Israel-Iran is the major reason behind rising crude oil prices, while Iraq's Deputy PM warned that crude oil price would soon breach $200 per barrel if the war continues. The OPEC+ is not a diplomatic or political grouping, but has some power to act as a mediator to help de-escalate the current tensions between Iran and Israel. Putin recently talked about mediating between the two enemy nations, while several other countries have also made similar statements.
