KUALA LUMPUR, June 26 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim hopes the Maal Hijrah 1447H/2025M celebration will mark the beginning of a more meaningful and blessed chapter in life.
He said the new Hijrah year carries a call to build a prosperous, inclusive and virtuous MADANI society rooted in Islamic values.
'Hijrah is not merely a physical migration, but a process of renewal. Let us continue to move forward with knowledge, integrity and a spirit of unity,' he said in a Facebook post today.

Anwar: NSRC to operate 24/7, cover all cybercrime cases
KUALA LUMPUR: The Madani government has agreed to expand the role of the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) to cover all forms of cybercrime, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said. He said a nationwide 24-hour response network, coordinated across multiple government agencies, would also be established to enhance cybercrime response capabilities. "The strengthening of the NSRC will involve integrating local expertise, improving inter-agency coordination, and increasing human resources," he said in a Facebook post. The prime minister said he had earlier chaired a special meeting of the National Cyber Security Committee (JKSN) to evaluate immediate measures to bolster the NSRC. Anwar said that since 2022, nearly 4.7 billion online scam attempts had been recorded, a staggering and worrying figure that demanded urgent and coordinated action. He said the Home Ministry and the Royal Malaysia Police had been tasked with fast-tracking the implementation of the NSRC's new structure, which includes clearly defining its role to ensure it is easily accessible and understood by the public. A "no wrong door" approach will also be adopted to simplify the complaint and assistance process, allowing victims to seek help from any agency without being redirected, he said. "I urge all agencies to act more proactively and think ahead to ensure comprehensive protection for the people. "At the same time, our national cyber defence readiness must continue to be enhanced, both domestically and in collaboration with international partners," he added.

MOE probing claims Pakistani national officiated school sports event
IPOH: The Education Ministry is investigating claims that a Pakistani national officiated a school sports event in the Kerian district, said Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek. "We are looking into the matter," she told reporters briefly after attending the Perak-level Maal Hijrah 1447H celebration, which the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, officiated here on Thursday night. A video recently circulated on social media showed the man being given the honour of launching the athletics meet in Simpang Empat Semanggol. Meanwhile, Fadhlina expressed her gratitude to Sultan Nazrin for posthumously conferring the Saidina Abu Bakar As-Siddiq Award on her late mother, Datin Dr Siti Zalikhah Md Nor. "She was a lecturer at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and a defender of syariah law. Empowering women in all aspects was her life's work and area of expertise. "On behalf of my family, I would like to thank His Royal Highness and the state government for this meaningful recognition," she said. 1447 Hijrah begins with heartfelt prayers, spiritual gatherings nationwide
KUALA LUMPUR: Muslims across the country welcomed the 1447 Hijrah new year with heartfelt devotion and reflection at year-end and new year prayer ceremonies held in mosques and suraus nationwide last night. The year-end prayer for 1446H was recited shortly before Maghrib to mark the end of the previous year, followed by the new year prayer for 1447H, seeking abundant blessings, safety, and well-being for the nation and all Muslims. Apart from the prayers, congregants also recited Yasin, munajat (supplication), and zikir as spiritual nourishment to mark the occasion of the Islamic new year. In KUALA LUMPUR, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar and Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee were among nearly 1,000 congregants attending the ceremony at the National Mosque. In SARAWAK, the ceremony at the Assyakirin Mosque in Bintulu was attended by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Sarawak, Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and other state leaders. The ceremony included Yasin recitation and tahlil for the late Puan Sri Juma'ani Tuanku Bujang, wife of Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, led by Sarawak Grand Imam Datuk Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi. In PERAK, the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Tuanku Zara Salim, attended the state-level Maal Hijrah 1447H celebration in Ipoh, which was joined by around 1,000 guests. In MELAKA, more than 3,000 people joined the Yang di-Pertua Negeri of Melaka, Tun Dr Mohd Ali Rustam, and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh at Al-Hakeem Mosque in Kampung Tehel, Bemban, for the state-level celebration. In KEDAH, the Sultan, Al-Aminul Karim Sultan Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah, accompanied by the Raja Muda of Kedah, Tengku Sarafudin Badlishah Sultan Salehuddin, attended the Yasin recital and prayer ceremony in conjunction with the state-level Maal Hijrah celebration at Zahir Mosque in Alor Setar. Meanwhile, in NEGRI SEMBILAN, the Yang di-Pertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, graced the state-level Maal Hijrah celebration at the State Mosque in Seremban.
