Dubai has launched a travel influencer academy aimed towards bringing more high-quality content to your feed.
The new initiative, titled the Beautiful Destinations Academy, Powered by Dubai, hopes to 'set new global benchmarks' for travel content as well as help creators with the business side of being an influencer.
The academy is the latest scheme designed to bring more influencers to the emirate following the launch of a special content creator golden visa and a Dhs150 million government support fund.
Established by Visit Dubai and Beautiful Destinations, the academy will attempt to bring 'structure, credibility and accountability to a previously informal field of work'.
In its launch statement, the academy pointed out that 76 percent of travel decisions are now influenced by social media content and the hope is that graduates will be able to produce more high-quality content encouraging visits to Dubai.

A Creators HQ was established at Emirates Towers to assist up to 10,000 content creators in their pursuit of long-term residence.
It means that online personalities will be able to live, work and create in the UAE without the need for a sponsor.
Content creators are able to apply for this golden visa via the Creators HQ website. This application will be reviewed and your eligibility will be assessed under the Golden Visa criteria – Content Creators and Creative Talent Category.

Dubai real estate prices likely to face double-digit fall after years of boom, Fitch says

DUBAI, May 29 (Reuters) - Dubai's real estate market prices are likely to face a double-double-digit fall in the second half of the year and in 2026, ratings agency Fitch said in a report on Thursday, marking a sharp turn after years of a post-pandemic boom. A spike in deliveries in 2025 and 2026 to a planned 210,000 units, doubling from the previous three years, is likely to cause a record increase in supply and push prices down by no more than 15%, the agency said. The possible drop would follow a rise of around 60% in residential units prices between 2022 and the first quarter of this year in Dubai, where massive infrastructure spending, generous income tax policies and relaxed social and visa rules lured thousands of foreigners after the COVID-19 pandemic, including Russians amid war in Ukraine. Real estate plays a vital role for the economy of the emirate, the Gulf's hub for business and tourism, with sector transactions worth 761 billion dirhams ($207.22 billion) last year, rising 36% in volume, according to Dubai government data. In the past, Dubai suffered painful corrections akin to the property crash in 2009 which required a $20 billion Abu Dhabi-led bailout. The government has since taken measures to deleverage and strengthen the sector, and consolidated major state-owned real estate developers. It has also pursued an economic reboot anchored in what it hopes is sustainable growth, including a 10-year plan known as D33, to double output and become one of the world's top four financial centres. Fitch said on Thursday that banks and homebuilders can tolerate a decrease in prices. It noted that while real estate remains the largest component in UAE banks' lending books, banking sector exposure to firms operating in real estate had dropped to 14% of total gross loans at end of last year from 20% three years earlier. The attractiveness of properties in prime locations, which include palm tree-shaped artificial island Palm Jumeirah, together with delays in project completion would also help mitigate pricing pressure. Dubai South to get Dhs150 million stormwater drainage system

Dubai is set to get a new Dhs150 million stormwater drainage project. As part of an agreement for Dubai South, the new system aims to improve stormwater and surface runoff in the event of heavy rain in that part of the city. In April 2024, the UAE was hit by the worst rainfall in its history. Since then, the national and local governments have ramped up projects to prevent the damage caused by storms. Part of the wider Tasreef flood prevention project, the latest announcement for Dubai South will see extra measures brought in to minimise flooding risks. Dubai South is undergoing significant development amid plans to eventually move all Dubai International Airport operations to Al Maktoum International Airport. Heavy rain and flooding have previously caused flights to be cancelled, diverted and delayed at DXB airport. Credit: @trtworld (X) The plans for the Dubai South stormwater drainage system aim to minimise flooding risks and safeguard roads, buildings and public assets. And, as a result, it will contribute to a safer, more sustainable environment for residents and visitors alike. A new secondary stormwater tunnel will be constructed, which will connect Dubai South's drainage network to Dubai Municipality's deep tunnel system via Expo Road. Tasreef is a long-term stormwater drainage development programme led by Dubai Municipality, with an estimated value of Dhs30 billion. Scheduled for completion by 2033, the project will extend coverage to all areas of the emirate, increasing the network's drainage capacity by 700 per cent to manage over 20 million cubic metres of water per day. Dubai Municipality has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Dubai South worth AED 150 million to develop an advanced stormwater drainage system in Dubai South's residential district. The initiative forms part of the broader Tasreef project and supports Dubai's commitment… — Dubai Media Office (@DXBMediaOffice) May 22, 2025 Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, explained that improving stormwater drainage in Dubai is a priority. He said: 'Developing infrastructure in the emirate of Dubai, particularly stormwater drainage, remains one of Dubai Municipality's strategic priorities. 'This project reflects our integrated approach to managing surface water systems and reinforces our commitment to linking all areas of the emirate through a unified network of deep tunnels. 'These efforts fall under the Tasreef programme, the largest and most efficient initiative of its kind in the region, which aims to develop stormwater drainage networks for the next 100 years.'
