WTC Final
: What happens if the match ends in a draw?
If the WTC Final between Australia and South Africa ends in a draw or tie, the World Test Championship mace will be shared between the two finalists. This has been a standard regulation for the one-off WTC final since its inception in 2021.
There is no additional tiebreaker like a Super Over in Test cricket. Unlike bilateral Test series, where a draw simply concludes the contest with no winner, this being a championship final means both teams will be crowned joint winners if no result is possible.

WTC Final: Is there a reserve day?
Yes. The ICC has allocated June 16 as a reserve day, which will be used only if net playing time lost during the scheduled five days is not recovered via extended sessions. The sixth day can add up to a maximum of 90 overs if required.
If the five scheduled days allow full innings and time for results — even with weather interruptions — and still end in a draw or tie, the reserve day won't be activated.
Who's that IPL player?

The ICC has significantly raised the prize money for the 2023–25 WTC cycle.
Winners: USD $3.6 million
Runners-up: USD $2.16 million
This increase reflects the growing stature of the Test format's showpiece event, with both Australia and South Africa eager to add not just silverware, but also a record paycheck.
A Tale of Two Legacies
Australia, the defending champions, led by
Pat Cummins
, are eyeing a repeat after their dominant win over India in the 2023 final. Their squad, brimming with experience, includes star names like Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, and Marnus Labuschagne.
In contrast, South Africa are chasing history. Temba Bavuma's men are looking to end a 27-year ICC trophy drought. Since winning the 1998 ICC KnockOut, South Africa have consistently faltered in knockout stages, earning the tag of "chokers." This final offers them a shot at redemption and a fresh legacy.

Why Noah Dobson's estimated deal shouldn't be concerning to New York Islanders fans
Noah Dobson (via Getty Images) New York Islanders defenseman Noah Dobson is on the cusp of a crucial off-season, with free agency on the horizon and rumors circulating about his future deal. The 25-year-old blueliner, who played key minutes and gave it his all in all aspects of the game, has emerged as a focal point for criticism among fans and pundits. Noah Dobson's versatility makes him more than an offender-scoring defenseman for the New York Islanders Noah Dobson's name will be at the top of the New York Islanders' offseason agenda, and for good reason. The defenseman is entering a year in which his offense declined—39 points versus a career-high 70 the previous season—but looking only at that decline is telling only half the story. Noah Dobson kept dealing with a heavy load, averaging more than 23 minutes per night, frequently against the opposing top line. Compared to other blueliners like Edmonton Oilers defenseman Evan Bouchard, even with 15 more points last season, Bouchard also sported defensive issues and a high xG% (57.9%) but his estimated contract only slightly exceeds that of Noah Dobson's. Both skaters were snubbed from Team Canada's roster for the 4 Nations, a reminder that national acclaim is not always the best measuring stick for NHL value. The concern that Dobson will be "overpaid" is rooted in old-fashioned ideals of what a premier-pairing defenseman ought to resemble. Not every great defender carries the game on highlight-reel goals or great big hits. Dobson thrives by being understated, using positioning, and playing in transition. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Although 13 of his points came on secondary assists last year, that tidbit doesn't take away from the fact that he initiated the play in the first place. The New York Islanders require stability and a ceiling on their blue line—and Dobson provides both. Rather than fearing they're overpaying, fans can see this contract as a long-term wager on a player who's quietly become the team's most valuable piece.
