A Family Of Seagulls Landed On The Vatican Roof During The Conclave, And They Completely Stole The Spotlight
As you probably already heard, today marks the first day of the conclave — the sacred, centuries-old tradition where Catholic cardinals gather in total secrecy to elect a new pope. Now, as per the tradition, the cardinals have entered the Sistine Chapel, sworn to silence, and cut themselves off from the outside world until a decision is made. It also all kicks off with prayers, ancient rituals, and a solemn oath of secrecy…as the world waits for the white smoke signifying that a new pope has been selected.

However, today ended with black smoke (meaning no new pope has been elected), and not much else happening...

Except for the arrival of some seagulls who decided they wanted a front-row seat to the conclave and perched themselves on the roof of the Sistine Chapel, next to the chimney.

Now, with not much else happening, these birds (or "pigeons of the sea" as I like to call them) have taken social media by ~storm~. So, I decided to round up some of the best Twitter (X) reactions to their appearance:

Hopefully, the seagulls make their return to the Sistine Chapel tomorrow, because clearly the internet NEEDS them.

Note: This is not the same seagull as the one in the tweets, but this is a recent photo of a seagull who lives in Rome, so it might know those other seagulls!

Patriots' David Andrews wipes away tears during NFL retirement speech in emotional scene

Former Patriots center David Andrews bid an emotional farewell Monday to the sport and team he loved. The two-time Super Bowl champion wiped away tears while speaking at his retirement ceremony at Gillette Stadium after calling it a career last week at the age of 32. 'I wrote this down, so I'm going to try to get through it,' Andrews began before pausing to collect himself. '… When I knew this day was coming, I was thinking about what I wanted to say. As you can see, there's a lot of emotions. The one that kept sticking out to me was gratitude.' 5 David Andrews was overcome with emotion during his retirement ceremony on June 2, 2025. Boston Globe via Getty Images An undrafted free agent out of Georgia, Andrews signed with the Patriots in 2015 and spent all 10 seasons of his NFL career in New England, winning two championships during the 2016 and 2018 seasons while snapping the ball to then-quarterback Tom Brady. Named the starting center for the Patriots in his rookie season, Andrews became a leader in the locker room upon being elected team captain for eight seasons. Andrews appeared in four games last season due to injury. 5 David Andrews signed with the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2015. 'You're a little shocked by it,' Andrews said on his 'Quick Snap' podcast. 'But … I've been so blessed. I've had 10 years and never got fired. I was living a pipe dream that I would hopefully make the decision myself.' Although Andrews could have worked out for another team after his release, he stated it was never an option for him. 5 David Andrews was overcome with emotion while at the podium on June 2, 2025. Boston Globe via Getty Images 'I didn't want to go do it for another organization,' Andrews told ESPN's Mike Reiss. 'That wasn't what I had in mind to finish my career. I wanted to finish it here, and I did.' Andrews, who hails from Johns Creek, Ga. and began playing football at the age of 6-years-old, started 121 games for the Patriots. During Monday's ceremony, Patriots owner Robert Kraft spoke about Andrew's early impact as a member of the team. '(Andrews was) just a young man with a big heart, a relentless work ethic, and a love for the game,' Kraft said. 'From day one, it was clear that David was different.' The Patriots are starting a new era under former linebacker-turned-head coach Mike Vrabel, who took over for a fellow New England alum, Jerod Mayo, after a disastrous 4-13 campaign last season.

Kai Trump Makes Strong Statement amid Massive Golf Improvement

Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. President Donald Trump has always been vocal about his granddaughter Kai's golfing abilities, but her professional golf journey has been anything but smooth. Just months ago, she faced brutal criticism after an unimpressive performance at Sage Valley. It came after the recently turned 18-year-old finished dead last among 24 competitors, carding a total of 52-over par with rounds of 89, 79, 83, and 89. Delegates, politicians, and the Republican faithful are in Milwaukee for the annual convention, concluding with former President Donald Trump accepting his party's presidential nomination. The RNC takes place from July 15-18. (Photo by) More Getty Images Later, it led to harsh criticism from netizens as many questioned her place in elite tournaments, saying her opportunities were "purely bought in" due to family connections. But guess what? On Monday, Kai Trump shut down her haters with a bold message. Last week, at the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour Major Championship, the teenager delivered a much-improved performance, posting rounds of 74 and 80 for a total of 154. She missed winning the title by just one shot as Bretton Mackiewicz snagged the reward. Compared to her struggles at Sage Valley, this was a clear sign of progress, and Kai wasted no time in celebrating the turnaround. Taking to Instagram, where she boasts 1.7 million followers, she shared: "Not the result I wanted but happy with the progress I am making! Let's get back to work 👊." (Image Credits: Kai Trump on Instagram) Instagram Kai's abilities have secured a big stamp of approval from LIV Golf star Bryson DeChambeau, Masters winner Rory McIlroy, and other elite professionals. Interestingly, Kai Trump wasn't the only young golfer answering the critics. Charlie Woods, son of Tiger Woods, had faced similar skepticism after failing to make a big splash on the golf course. Last month, the young Woods put all doubts to rest at the AJGA Team TaylorMade Invitational, winning the event. Shooting 15-under par (201) across three rounds, Charlie dominated the field, setting a tournament record with 26 birdies and an eagle. His victory moved him inside the top 20 in Rolex AJGA Rankings, marking a major milestone in his young career. Charlie Woods's father, Tiger Woods, is reportedly dating Kai's mother, Vanessa Trump. Their relationship has put them even more in the spotlight. As Kai and Charlie deal with public pressure, they continue carving out their own paths in golf. Injured WWE Star May Be Sidelined For Rest Of Year

WWE Raw superstar Zoey Stark experienced a heartbreaking setback on the May 19, 2025, episode, suffering a severe knee injury after her knee buckled upon landing a missile dropkick. WWE SmackDown arenaPhoto by Chris Ryan/Corbis via Getty Images This unfortunate injury is another major hurdle in Stark's WWE journey, which began when she signed in early 2021. Stark sustained a legitimate knee injury in late 2021 that required surgery and extensive rehabilitation. She made a strong return to NXT before being drafted to Monday Night Raw as part of the 2023 WWE Draft. Advertisement Stark made an immediate impact on the main roster, most notably forming an alliance with WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus. She effectively served as Stratus's enforcer during the heated feud with Becky Lynch, featuring in key premium live event matches. The latest incident occurred during a high-stakes Money in the Bank qualifying match, which also involved Rhea Ripley and Kairi Sane. Stark was immediately attended to by medical staff and carefully carried backstage, with the broadcast cutting away, indicating the potential gravity of the situation. She later connected with fans on social media, expressing profound gratitude for their messages. Stark wrote on Twitter in a statement, 'Wow the love and support means more to me than you'll ever know! What hurts more than my knee is knowing I won't be able to perform for all of you for a while. I LOVE what I do and I'm blessed to do this. As the saying goes, the comeback is greater than the setback. Love you guys.' Advertisement Adding to concerns, a May 22, 2025, Fightful Select report noted, "The initial fear backstage was [a] tear that would require surgery," although an official diagnosis remains unconfirmed. The report further suggested WWE is "preparing not to have Stark for the remainder of the year." We wish her a speedy recovery.
