Appeal to find missing 15-year-old girl from southwest Minnesota
An appeal has been issued to find a 15-year-old girl who has been missing since late January in Adrian, Minnesota.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension says Mindy Heth left her Adrian home and was dropped off at a residence in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on Jan. 24. Police say she hasn't returned home since.
Heth reportedly changes her hair color and style frequently but it's believed to be either black or blonde at this time.
Heth is described as American Indian, 5'8" tall, and 160 pounds. She has brown eyes and was last seen wearing red flannel plants with a black crop top shirt, a black sweatshirt and white slippers.
She also has a pierced septum and nose studs on both nostrils. Heth is believed to be in the Sioux Falls area.

Charges filed in drive-by shooting outside Burnsville High School graduation
Charges were filed Monday after gunshots were fired outside the Burnsville High School graduation on Friday night. No one was injured. The Dakota County Attorney's Office said in criminal complaints: Officers were working security and crowd control outside the high school. They were aware that two groups of people 'were arguing and flashing gang signs towards each other as officers were attempting to disperse the groups. Officers also broke up several physical altercations between the groups that evening.' At about 8:30 p.m., officers heard gunshots coming from the west side of the school. Bystanders directed them to a Toyota Camry, and officers detained the driver and front-seat passenger. The driver was identified as Abdikani Mukhtar Abdiwahab, 18, of Bloomington, and the passenger as Abdulahi Jama Ali, 18, of Shakopee. A bystander was heard saying, 'Ksoe, you missed. You dumb (expletive).' Officers learned Ali's nickname is 'Ksoe.' The bystander was wearing a leopard print or camo jacket. Witnesses reported the Camry's driver was driving recklessly and almost hit another vehicle. They saw a person in a leopard print jacket approach the Camry's passenger side, talk with the occupants and try to punch the Camry with his fist. A barrel of a gun then came out the front passenger window and someone opened fire. Officers found a handgun with an extended magazine under the front passenger seat and a bullet casing on the driver's side floorboard. They also found two bullet casings on the street and a parked vehicle with a bullet fragment in the driver's side headlight. Abdiwahab later told officers he hadn't fired a gun and said his DNA wouldn't be found on the gun taken from the Camry. DNA swabs were taken from the handgun and from Ali, after police obtained a search warrant, and are pending analysis at the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Abdiwahab is charged with two counts each of aiding and abetting a drive-by shooting and aiding an offender. Ali is charged with second-degree assault and two counts of drive-by shooting. Both are jailed. The county attorney's office is seeking $200,00 bail or $100,000 with conditions for Abdiwahab, saying that he fired at least three shots from a handgun toward another person and an unoccupied vehicle after the graduation ceremony 'when all attendees were attempting to leave the area,' which was 'a great risk to public safety,' according to a memo about bail. Ali 'continued to drive from the scene and provided false and misleading information to law enforcement to prevent them from identifying' Abdiwahab as the shooter, said another memo about bail. The prosecution is requesting $160,000 bail or $80,000 with conditions. Two other people were arrested in the incident. It wasn't immediately clear if they would be charged Monday. The Friday before Burnsville's graduation, two people were injured in a shooting outside Mariucci Arena at the University of Minnesota after the Wayzata High School graduation ceremony. Suspect in custody after Mapleton housemate found dead, officials say
A suspect is in custody after the person he lived with was found dead in the southern Minnesota home they shared, authorities said. The investigation started just after 2 a.m. Tuesday with an abandoned car on Highway 22 near the Terrace View Golf Course in Mapleton, according to the Blue Earth County Sheriff's Office. Despite a witness's help, authorities could not find the driver. Deputies went to the Mapleton home of the vehicle's registered owner, where they found him dead "with obvious signs of trauma," the sheriff's office said. Police have not shared his age or identity. Authorities eventually found and arrested the driver of the abandoned car, who also lived with the victim. Mapleton police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension are investigating with the sheriff's office. Authorities say the public is not in danger. Mapleton is about 100 miles southwest of Minneapolis.

Charges to be dismissed in St. Paul sexual assault case
A sexual assault case against a 50-year-old accused of raping a man in St. Paul he met on a dating app is being dismissed due to a lack of evidence, according to the Ramsey County Attorney's Office. The charges against John Henry McCaster allege he sexually assaulted a man at a home in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood on New Year's Eve 2023 after the two met on the Grindr app. He told police McCaster had insisted that he drink a 'blue drink' and after doing so 'began to feel drunk,' then passed out and awoke naked, the charges say. Police had already arrested McCaster about two hours before the man called police on Dec. 31, 2023. He was picked up in Vadnais Heights on suspicion of drug possession (methamphetamine) and possessing a gun (he was prohibited after having been convicted of a crime of violence) and later charged with both offenses. McCaster was found with the man's driver's license and debit card and other items at that time. McCaster later told investigators they had consensual sex. Police carried out a search warrant at the East Side home and found blue liquid in a pitcher, which was sent to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing. On Wednesday, McCaster pleaded guilty to the gun charge. As part of a plea agreement, the sexual assault case will be dismissed at his sentencing 'given a lack of evidence to prove the case beyond a reasonable doubt, including the remaining liquid that the (man) drank testing negative for any controlled substances,' Dennis Gerhardstein, Ramsey County Attorney's Office spokesman, said in a Friday statement. The man who reported the assault agreed with the settlement, Gerhardstein said. McCaster's attorney did not respond to a request for comment Friday. McCaster faces a mandatory five-year prison sentence on the gun charge. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 15.
