The original Spider-Man movie by Sam Raimi remains a fan favourite. Now, Fathom Entertainment is bringing back those original films for fans to relive the nostalgia on the big screen. Starting September 26, all three movies are scheduled for a re-release. The exciting news doesn't stop there, as the second movie will be shown in a new extended version called Spider-Man 2.1, which was never before seen in theatres. The new edition has sharper 4K picture quality and includes extra scenes that'll provide a deeper look into Peter Parker's challenges.
According to Variety, the special screenings will start on September 26 with Spider-Man, followed by Spider-Man 2.1 on September 27, and Spider-Man 3 on September 28. Fans will get another chance to watch the trilogy next weekend, on October 3, 4 and 5. Tickets for both screenings will go on sale from July 25.
Ray Nutt, chief executive officer of Fathom Entertainment, said, 'The success of Spider-Man in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire's take on Spider-Man resonates across generations. At Fathom Entertainment, we celebrate fandom and I am delighted that Spider-Man 2.1 in 4K will make its theatrical debut, a true gift for longtime fans and a thrilling discovery for new ones."
Tobey Maguire, who played Spider-Man in Sam Raimi's trilogy, reprised the role in Tom Holland led Spider-Man: No Way Home alongside Andrew Garfield, from The Amazing Spider-Man. Now, there are rumours that Tobey might appear again in upcoming films like Avengers: Doomsday or Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Interestingly, the Marvel trilogy joined Fathom Entertainment's list of special re-releases of fan favourite classics like Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Clueless, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, Sunset Boulevard, The Sound of Music and Rocky IV.
Other than Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker, the original Spider-Man films also featured Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson and James Franco as Harry Osborn. The trilogy included many well known villains, such as Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Alfred Molina played Doc Ock and Thomas Haden Church stepped into the shoes of Sandman.

New ‘Avatar: Fire & Ash' image teases tense reunion between Sully family and Fire-Born clan
A newly released image from Avatar: Fire and Ash teases a tense moment between two of the franchise's most pivotal characters. Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang), last seen surviving the events of Avatar: The Way of Water, may still have a few tricks up his sleeve as he knows the Sully family is likely to come after him for the death of Neteyam (Jamie Flatters). In the new image, Quaritch is seen alongside Spider (Jack Champion), hinting at their complicated dynamic in the upcoming film. Father and son: Complicated loyalties The relationship between Quaritch and Spider remains one of the most complex in the Avatar saga. As revealed in The Way of Water, Spider is the biological son of the original Quaritch. Though father and son are connected by blood, Spider was raised by Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and his allies. By the end of the second film, Spider had returned to his adoptive family after briefly aligning with the cloned Quaritch. Will Fire and Ash give them a chance to reconnect—or will their paths continue to diverge? Audiences will find out when the film hits theaters on December 19. Grief and new beginnings for the Sully family Avatar: Fire and Ash picks up as Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) grapple with the loss of their son, Neteyam. The story will introduce a new Na'vi clan known as the Ash People, adding further depth to the richly layered world of Pandora. With secrets still lurking beneath Pandora's surface, Lo'ak (Britain Dalton), Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), and the rest of the Sully family must summon the courage to face powerful new threats. A powerhouse cast returns for Avatar: Fire and Ash James Cameron has assembled a stellar cast to bring the world of Pandora to life once again. Kate Winslet reprises her role as Ronal, a key figure in the Metkayina clan. Having previously worked with Cameron on Titanic, Winslet is poised to take on another major role in a film expected to dominate the global box office. Also joining the cast is Harry Potter alum David Thewlis, whose character Peylak remains shrouded in mystery. Avatar: Fire and Ash opens in theaters December 19, 2025.

'That was also a struggle': Rainn Wilson on The Office after Steve Carell left
Washington DC [US], June 29 (ANI): Actor Rainn Wilson recently opened up about the difficulties filming 'The Office' after Steve Carell left the show in 2011, reported Variety. Rainn Wilson, who played Dwight Schrute, discussed his experience working on the comedy series for nine seasons with podcast hosts Josh Peck and Ben Soffer. 'The Office' co-star admitted in the interview that it was challenging for the cast and production to continue the show after they lost their leading man, reported Variety. "When Steve left, then it was a little bit chaotic of trying to figure out the tone of the show and who's the lead and, how are we telling these stories without, you know, the comic engine of the show, which is Michael Scott, and without one of the greatest comic actors in American history at the center of our show. That was also a struggle." Wilson explained, as quoted by Variety. However, Wilson shared that Carell's departure didn't surprise him or their other cast members because he was "such a big movie star at the time", hence making it evident for him to exit, reported Variety. Once Carrell left 'The Office,' he starred in several films including 'Crazy, Stupid Love.,' the 'Despicable Me' franchise, 'Hope Springs' and 'The Way Way Back.' According to Variety, Carell received extensive critical acclaim for portraying Michael Scott in the NBC series. During his six years on the sitcom, he was nominated six times for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series at the Emmys, reported Variety. The series continued for two seasons without Carell before ending in 2013, in which he made a surprise return as Scott in the series finale. However, a new iteration of 'The Office,' called 'The Paper,' has been picked up as an upcoming mockumentary series set to debut on Peacock in September, reported Variety. (ANI)
