Apple set to release iOS 18.3.1 with security fixes and updates

Listen to article
Apple is gearing up for the release of iOS 18.3.1, a highly anticipated update that could address several security vulnerabilities and resolve bugs affecting iPhone performance.
According to a report from MacRumors, which references its reliable analytics logs, the iOS 18.3.1 update will arrive in the coming weeks, just shortly after the release of iOS 18.3 in late January.
While the full details of iOS 18.3.1 remain under wraps, it's expected to bring crucial security updates to iPhones, particularly addressing vulnerabilities that may have already been exploited in real-world attacks.
The iOS 18.3 update, which was released last month, included 29 security fixes, notably one for a critical issue in CoreMedia (CVE-2025-24085). This flaw could allow malicious apps to gain elevated privileges on compromised devices.
With cybersecurity being a top priority, it's likely that iOS 18.3.1 will continue Apple's focus on patching any newly discovered vulnerabilities to ensure user safety.
Beyond security, iOS 18.3.1 is also expected to resolve a range of bugs that have affected users since the previous update. Notably, iOS 18.3 temporarily disabled Apple Intelligence's notification summaries for news and entertainment apps due to inaccuracies in the generated summaries.
While it's still unclear whether these summaries will be fully restored in iOS 18.3.1 or in a subsequent update, users can expect the issue to be addressed soon.
The iOS 18.3.1 update comes at a time when there's a significant gap between the release of iOS 18.3 and the upcoming iOS 18.4, which is expected in April.
Given the timing, Apple's decision to release iOS 18.3.1 appears to be a strategic move to fix any lingering issues, ensuring that users have a stable experience while awaiting the next major update.
As with any iOS update, users are encouraged to check for the latest version to ensure their devices remain up to date and secure. To do so, simply navigate to
Settings > General > Software Update
on your iPhone or iPad.

Photo:REUTERS Listen to article Apple executives have held internal talks about potentially bidding for artificial intelligence startup Perplexity, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The discussions are at an early stage and may not lead to an offer, the report said, adding that the tech behemoth's executives have not discussed a bid with Perplexity's management. "We have no knowledge of any current or future M&A discussions involving Perplexity," Perplexity said in response to a Reuters' request for comment. Apple did not immediately respond to a Reuters' request for comment. Big tech companies are doubling down on investments to enhance AI capabilities and support growing demand for AI-powered services to maintain competitive leadership in the rapidly evolving tech landscape. Bloomberg News also reported on Friday that Meta Platforms tried to buy Perplexity earlier this year. Adrian Perica, Apple's head of mergers and acquisitions, has weighed the idea with services chief Eddy Cue and top AI decision-makers, as per the report. The iPhone maker reportedly plans to integrate AI-driven search capabilities - such as Perplexity AI - into its Safari browser, potentially moving away from its longstanding partnership with Alphabet's Google. Adobe Project Indigo: A free-to-use iPhone app for SLR-style photos

Adobe has launched a new computational photography camera app for iPhones, offering users a powerful tool to capture high-quality, natural-looking photos. The app, named Project Indigo, is free to download and currently available for iPhone 12 Pro models and newer, with Adobe recommending optimal use on an iPhone 15 Pro or later. The app was developed in part by Marc Levoy, a renowned figure in mobile imaging who previously helped transform the Google Pixel camera's capabilities. Now an Adobe Fellow, Levoy worked alongside senior scientist Florian Kainz to build the app under Adobe Labs. The project was announced on Adobe's website through a technical blog. Unlike most Adobe products, Project Indigo does not require users to log into an Adobe account, allowing immediate access to its features. Indigo leverages computational photography to improve image quality by capturing a burst of photos and combining them to produce a final image with enhanced dynamic range and reduced noise. The app aims to deliver a 'natural, SLR-like' aesthetic and includes full manual controls for focus, ISO, shutter speed, and white balance — features aimed at enthusiasts and professionals alike. Adobe Labs releases an experimental digital photography app Project Indigo ( to showcase breakthrough innovations, including reflection removal, which is being published at CVPR this week. Check out this blog: — Adobe Research (@AdobeResearch) June 13, 2025 In the technical blog post, Levoy and Kainz outlined how the app processes images to retain a natural look, explaining key elements of its image pipeline. They noted that Project Indigo is intended as both a standalone tool and a testbed for features that may appear in other Adobe products. Experimental tools under consideration include a reflection removal button, portrait mode enhancements, and eventually, video recording capabilities. 'This is the beginning of a journey for Adobe – towards an integrated mobile camera and editing experience that takes advantage of the latest advances in computational photography and AI,' wrote Levoy and Kainz. The team's vision is to bridge the gap between casual mobile shooters and advanced photographers, offering an app that balances accessibility with powerful photographic control. An Android version is also in development. For now, Project Indigo marks Adobe's most significant foray into mobile camera software, reflecting the growing importance of AI-driven photography tools in both consumer and professional imaging.
