Himaya condemns piracy of "Madeleine" ship, holds occupation responsible for ongoing genocide in Gaza

Ramallah - Saba: The Palestinian "Himaya" Center for Human Rights condemned the new crime committed by the Israeli occupation forces at dawn on Monday against the "Madeleine" ship, which was sailing in international waters towards the Gaza Strip. The ship was carrying 12 peace and human rights activists, in addition to symbolic humanitarian aid aimed at breaking the blockade imposed on more than two million Palestinians in the Strip. The Protection Center said in a statement, carried by Palestinian media, that it had monitored this crime, stressing that the targeting of the Madeleine is not an isolated incident, but rather comes within the context of a broader crime: the crime of genocide and systematic starvation perpetrated by the occupying forces against civilians in the Gaza Strip. This includes destroying supply chains, preventing the entry of aid, and targeting relief efforts. This reflects a clear intent to commit genocide, as stipulated in the 1948 Genocide Convention. The Center emphasized that preventing the Madeleine from reaching Gaza reinforces the policy of collective punishment and once again exposes the international community's failure to protect civilians and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid, which encourages the Israeli occupation to continue committing crimes without accountability. The Center called for the immediate release of all activists detained on board Madeleine, revealing their whereabouts, and ensuring their safety. It also called for an urgent international investigation into the crime of piracy committed by the Israeli occupation, as a crime under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court. It called for the opening of safe humanitarian corridors—land, sea, and air—to the Gaza Strip, to halt the policy of starvation and genocide that has been practiced for more than eight months. It appealed to the international community to take immediate and practical measures to impose sanctions on the occupying state and halt all forms of political and military support for it. The center noted that continued international silence constitutes complicity in the crime, undermines the principles of international humanitarian law, and weakens the prestige of the UN system. Himaya Center emphasized that the international popular and human rights movement to break the siege on Gaza, as embodied by the Madeleine voyage, represents the living conscience of humanity and must receive protection and support, not repression and arrest. According to what activists documented before the communication was cut off, Israeli warships and drones surrounded the ship, jammed its communications, and dropped unknown materials on it before storming it and arbitrarily arresting those on board. This conduct constitutes a full-fledged crime of maritime piracy and a flagrant violation of international law, particularly the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and the Geneva Conventions. 84th day of the resumption of aggression: Martyrs, dozens injured in Israeli raids on Gaza Strip

Gaza-Saba: For the 84th consecutive day, the Israeli enemy army continues its crimes and war of genocide against the Gaza Strip, committing massacres against Palestinian civilians. Palestinian media reported that three citizens were martyred and others injured when Israeli enemy forces targeted a group of Palestinian citizens near Dawla Junction, south of al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. The media reported that four Palestinian citizens were martyred as a result of Israeli shelling of al-Shuja'iyya and al-Tuffah neighborhoods, east of Gaza City. The office also reported that martyrs and wounded occurred in an Israeli enemy shelling of a tent housing displaced persons in al-Mawasi area, west of Khan Yunis, in the southern Gaza Strip. It reported that Omar Fathi Abu Odeh (19 years old) was martyred in shelling by an Israeli drone on the town of Abasan al-Kabira, east of Khan Yunis. It noted the arrival of seven martyrs from the Al-Alam area, west of Rafah city in the southern Gaza Strip. Among them were identified as Omar Muhammad Salam Siam, Saeed Hani Nadi Al-Attar, and Suhaib Awad Ali Abu Odeh. Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat reported that 31 wounded arrived at the hospital as a result of Israeli "Quadcopter" drones firing bombs and live bullets at gatherings of Palestinian civilians near the aid distribution point near the Netzarim checkpoint in the central Gaza Strip. Safa News Agency reported that three citizens were martyred in an Israeli bombardment that targeted a group of citizens on Al-Ishrin Street in al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. It explained that enemy forces stationed east of Jabalia continued to fire artillery shells and machine gun fire intensively in the vicinity of al-Rafi'i and Arbakan schools, coinciding with the firing from the "Quadcopter" drones. The Israeli army intensified its airstrikes and artillery shelling on Jabalia, amid intense drone flights. Since March 18, the Israeli enemy has resumed its war of extermination in Gaza, reneging on a 58-day ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas, brokered by Qatar and Egypt and supported by the United States. Since October 7, 2023, Israeli forces have been waging a genocidal war in the Gaza Strip, ignoring all international calls and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt it. The genocide has left approximately 180,000 Palestinians dead and wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing. Hundreds of thousands have been displaced, and a famine has claimed the lives of the majority of the Strip's population. Whatsapp Telegram Email Print more of (International)
