Kendrick Perkins claps back at Bill Simmons over NBA draft criticism: ‘I'll address your ass'

New York Post8 hours ago

Kendrick Perkins isn't keen on Bill Simmons' criticism of ESPN's 2025 NBA Draft coverage.
The former NBAer and current analyst called out the Podfather on Thursday, one day after Simmons took issue with how the Worldwide Leader handled the first 30 picks on their airwaves.
'I don't know who anointed you the preacher or king or head honcho overseeing basketball and the way things need to be,' Perkins said in a video he posted on X. 'What have you done? What have you done, period, in the game of basketball? Have you ever played?
'It's kind of pissing me off because you feel like you're sitting on this throne. You got in your feelings.'
During his self-titled podcast on Wednesday night, Simmons took several digs at the network, and at one point called Perkins out specifically for his bold take on the Raptors' playoff chances next season.
'They took Collin Murray-Boyles and Perk said they had the pieces to be a top six team in the East,' Simmons said. 'And at that point I started looking for a third ESPN channel, but there were only two covering the draft. There wasn't a third one. At least one that I could find.'
The two-and-a-half minute social media clip apparently wasn't enough for Perkins, who said he will be addressing Simmons on his podcast 'Road Trippin'' on Sunday.
'Man, shut up. You didn't think before you started drinking them Heinekens,' Perkins said. 'And then you got your little peanut gallery on the podcast who just agree with you … Man, shut the hell up. The hell you done? I'm gonna get more on your a– come Sunday, believe that. I'm gonna finish doing my research on you. Enough is enough.'
Kendrick Perkins took issue with Bill Simmons' criticism.

Perkins' comments apparently made it to Simmons' ears.
I'm honored that you sat in a car for 2+ minutes to scold me on your iPhone like this, even though we are a combined age of like 92,' Simmons replied on X about an hour after Perkins' post. 'If you actually think Toronto will be top-6 in the East in anything other than 'most fun place to visit' — let's wager on it ASAP.'
Bill Simmons wasn't a fan of Kendrick Perkins and ESPN's NBA Draft coverage.

Simmons, who was on ESPN's NBA draft airwaves during his days with the company, has long been a critic of the network's basketball coverage.

What should we grade the Boston Celtics selection of Spanish small forward Hugo Gonzalez?

What should we grade the Boston Celtics selection of Spanish small forward Hugo Gonzalez with the 28th overall pick of the 2025 NBA draft? The Celtics surprised some of their fans by skipping past promising players like Maxime Raynaud, Ryan Kalkbrenner, Rasheer Fleming and Liam McNeely, instead electing to go with a 19-year-old wing prospect from Madrid, Spain who played last season for EuroLeague powerhouse Real Madrid. And while Gonzalez did not get on the floor enough to log particularly impressive stat lines, he also earned 10 minutes per game with the club while showing off the bounce and grit that caught the Celtics interest in the first place. So how should we grade the pick for Boston, given where they could have gone instead? The folks behind the "CBS Sports" YouTube channel put together a clip of their assessment of the Celtics' 2025 NBA draft first round selection. Check it out below to see it for yourself.

Mizzou Guard Tamar Bates Signs with Nuggets After Draft

Mizzou Guard Tamar Bates Signs with Nuggets After Draft originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Although he didn't hear his name called during the 2025 NBA Draft, former Missouri Tigers guard Tamar Bates still found a professional home shortly after the Draft concluded. Advertisement Bates has signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets, per Tony Jones of The Athletic. Bates initially transferred to Missouri ahead of the 2023-2024 season, and he appeared in 67 games over the course of two seasons. The Kansas City native averaged 13.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while maintaining 49.9 / 39.3 / 93.2 shooting splits. After finding his footing as a Tiger, Bates became one of the nation's most efficient scorers. During the 2024-25 season, Bates averaged 13.3 points per game on 50.8 / 39.7 / 94.6 shooting splits. He is the only SEC player since 2008 to reach those splits. Missouri Tigers guard Tamar Bates (2) drives against Drake Bulldogs guard Tavion Banks (6) in the second half of a first round mens NCAA Tournament game at Intrust Bank Lee-Imagn Images Although his volume was sometimes inconsistent, as he scored single digit points in five different conference games, Bates won't be tasked as a primary scorer in the NBA like he was at Mizzou, so his shot attempt rate should fall to a steadier role. Advertisement Whether it's catch-and-shoot threes or his signature post fadeaway, Bates is an all-around scorer. His ability to score from all three levels makes him a perfect connective swingman. The clear next step for Bates will be shoring up on his decision-making abilities as he averaged 1.3 turnovers and just 1 assist per game at Mizzou. In the modern NBA, wings are often asked to put the ball on the floor and make correct reads, so being a pure score won't be enough. However, under the guidance of David Adelman and the Nuggets coaching staff, Bates will hopefully develop into a strong addition to any roster.
