Tiafoe upset by local wild card at Queen's Club
LONDON (AP) — British wild card Dan Evans upset world No. 13 Frances Tiafoe 7-5, 6-2 on Monday for his first win at Queen's Club since 2021.
Backhand slices and quick net reflexes underpinned No. 199 Evans' second ever top-20 win on grass. The first was at 2019 Wimbledon.
'I still believed I've got that tennis in me and I still believe I can do good things inside the top 100. But believing it and it happening is a lot different,' Evans said. 'You know how some days you think, 'Are you deluded, are you nuts, have you still got it, still got it in your legs?' Today showed I still have a bit left.'
Other first-round winners included fourth-seeded Holger Rune and eighth-seeded Jakub Mensik on his Queen's debut. The 19-year-old Czech hit 20 aces while beating former finalist Cameron Norrie 7-6 (6), 1-6, 6-1.
Mensik next faces Roberto Bautista Agut of Spain, a three-set comeback winner over Nuno Borges of Portugal, while Rune lined up Mackenzie McDonald of the U.S., who ousted Gael Monfils of France 6-4, 6-4.
The top two seeds are Wimbledon and French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, and Taylor Fritz, who won Stuttgart on Sunday for his fourth title on grass.

Pacers' Haliburton appears to aggravate lower leg injury in Game 5 of NBA Finals
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Indiana guard Tyrese Haliburton briefly left Game 5 of the NBA Finals for treatment after apparently aggravating an injury to his lower right leg, grabbing at it in obvious discomfort more than once. He played 10:04 of the first quarter Monday, then left for the locker room area and emerged with a wrap on his lower leg. Haliburton checked back into the game with 8:27 left in the first half. The injury — whatever it is — has been an issue for much of the series. Haliburton was clearly limping after Game 2, then said before Game 3 that there wasn't much to discuss. 'I'm fine. Really just a lower leg thing. I'll leave it at that,' Haliburton said. 'I don't think there's anything more to elaborate.' Pacers coach Rick Carlisle revealed earlier in the series that Haliburton has been experiencing some discomfort, though did not sound overly concerned. Haliburton has started all five games in the series. Haliburton came into Monday averaging 17.8 points, 7.5 assists and six rebounds in the finals. He missed his first four shots of Game 5, appearing to be laboring at times while running or even walking. PWHL Vancouver inks forward Hannah Miller as free agency opens
PWHL Vancouver has signed former Toronto Sceptres forward Hannah Miller as a free agent. The expansion team announced the deal Monday, the first day of the league's free agency window. The 29-year-old Miller has played two seasons in Toronto, and contributed 10 goals and 14 assists in 29 regular-season appearances during the 2024-25 campaign. She previously spent five seasons with the KRS Vanke Rays in Shenzhen, China. Internationally, the native of North Vancouver, B.C., represented China at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and scored the host country's first goal of the Games. 2 Winnipeg Jets named to Olympic hockey rosters
At least a couple of Winnipeg Jets will get to represent their country on sports biggest stage next year. All of the 12 countries who qualified for next year's Olympic men's hockey tournament named the first six players to their roster, and two Jets players were among the initial selections for the 2026 Winter Games in Italy. Forwards Nikolaj Ehlers and Nino Niederreiter were both chosen by their respective countries, but goalie Connor Hellebuyck was not selected by USA Hockey after helping them to a second place finish at the 4 Nations Face-off tournament. Ehlers played for Denmark at this year's World Championship and also helped his country qualify during last summer's Olympic qualification tournaments. Ehlers days with the Jets appear to be numbered though as he'll become an unrestricted free agent in around two weeks time. The 32-year-old scored two goals in four games for Switzerland at this year's worlds in his third straight year at the tournament. Ehlers will make his Olympic debut, but it'll be the second Olympic Winter Games for Niederreiter after playing in the last Olympics with NHLers back in 2014. While Hellebuyck was not chosen, USA Hockey did not name any goalies to its initial roster and went with six skaters instead in Quinn Hughes, Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel, Charlie McAvoy, and Matthew and Brady Tkachuk. Canada selected five forwards and one blueliner to start it's roster. Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Connor McDavid, Brayden Point and Sam Reinhart were all chosen. It'll be Crosby's third Olympic games, while McDavid will finally make his long-awaited Olympic debut. The men's Olympic ice hockey tournament begins on February 11.
