Your horoscope for the week ahead: Block out distractions so you can focus on self-expression

CBC26-05-2025

Have certain creative ideas been dancing around your mind lately? They could start to take centre stage as thoughtful Mercury in curious Gemini sextiles imaginative Neptune in passionate Aries on Monday. When these planets work together, we often feel called to pour ourselves into our hobbies and interests with renewed enthusiasm. Focus on blocking out distractions so you can prioritize playfulness and self-expression.
You may feel motivated to start writing new stories for yourself when the new moon in optimistic Gemini arrives later on Monday night or early Tuesday, depending on your time zone. This lunation will offer us the chance to really think about what we want to achieve over the next several months. Listen closely to your inner voice as you evaluate your next move, but don't hesitate to consult with others too. You might find that discussing your ambitions with people you trust helps to open doors that were previously locked.
If you've been itching to seal a particular deal, you could be presented with the perfect opportunity to do so when communication-ruling Mercury trines transformative Pluto on Tuesday. Our powers of persuasion tend to heighten under this influence, which can push us to accomplish some pretty amazing things when we choose to believe in ourselves. Summon your confidence and choose your words wisely as you navigate this empowering aspect.
Finally, when the ego-ruling sun conjuncts analytical Mercury in impulsive Gemini late on Thursday or early Friday, you may have to work a bit harder than usual to avoid getting swept up by anxious thoughts. This aspect can sometimes drive us to weigh the pros and cons of nearly every action we take, which can leave us feeling pretty depleted. Do your best to make decisions quickly, and if you notice yourself getting stuck or overstimulated, consider stepping away for a moment to clear your mind.
Here is your horoscope for the week of Monday, May 26, 2025.
Aries
Feeling distracted, Aries? At the beginning of this week, finding your focus will be key, especially if a few pressing domestic responsibilities crop up. Try focusing on how your efforts are helping to nurture your private life as you get things done on the home front. Meanwhile, if you feel the sudden urge to switch up your routines or experiment with new ways of improving your well-being, don't hesitate to bounce your ideas off of others. Discussing your personal goals could open you up to all kinds of fresh practices and even encourage you to be more mindful of how you spend your energy.
Taurus
Where do you find comfort, Taurus? Making a conscious effort to declutter your mind could help you answer that question at the start of this week, and perhaps even encourage you to reconnect with your true values. During this process, you may also notice that your need for security and stability intensifies, igniting a fire within you. Use this energy to set new financial goals and play around with big money-making ideas. One of them just might take off if you're bold enough to pitch it to someone. Strike while the iron is hot, and prepare to put in the work to get what you really want.
Gemini
Celebrate what makes you unique, Gemini. If you've been spending a lot of your time hiding out behind the scenes lately, this week will be a beautiful moment to reinvest in your dreams, and emerge from your cocoon with grace and splendour. As your confidence begins to blossom, you may also feel called to change up your image in some new and exciting ways. Have fun experimenting with your look over the next few weeks of your astrological season. You might even find that doing so helps you make a lasting impression on just about everyone you meet during this period.
Cancer
There's no need to rush, Cancer. So if you notice your energy waning at the top of this week, allow yourself to take lots of breaks to collect your thoughts and regain your strength. Practising a little mindfulness could even help you identify certain self-limiting beliefs that you're ready to leave behind. Meanwhile, you may find that this process of looking inward encourages you to reimagine what's possible for your career or creative pursuits. Enjoy playing around with big ideas and even tapping into your dark side — just try to avoid pushing other people's buttons and stirring up drama in the process.
Leo
Go ahead and nurture your bonds, Leo. At the start of this week, you may feel particularly keen to take the focus off yourself and shine a spotlight on the people who bring you the most joy. Use this as an opportunity to tend to your existing friendships and seek out ways of expanding your community too. If you flash your winning smile and let your charisma sparkle, you could end up making some exciting connections. Perhaps you'll even feel motivated to host a get-together where your new friends can mingle with your inner circle. Have fun planning an event to kick the summer off in style.
Virgo
Give yourself a pat on the back, Virgo. You've accomplished so much over these last few months, and one of the best ways to honour that work is by learning to take up more space. If you've been wanting to sharpen your image or strengthen your ability to command an audience, this week could offer you a fantastic opportunity to do so. Set an intention to transform how people see you on the public stage. Others are sure to take notice when you take the lead and may even approach you with offers that could take your career in an intriguing new direction. Listen to your instincts as you navigate your way forward.
Libra
What knowledge does your mind thirst for, Libra? Asking yourself this question could pay off in a big way at the beginning of the week, especially if your usual routines have felt harder to stick to as of late and you find yourself looking for new ways to spice up your schedule. Use this moment to investigate classes, workshops and books that inspire you, and be sure to listen closely to your inner voice as you think about where to pour your energy. You may even find that this process motivates you to develop a talent that you've always wanted to nurture. Don't miss this chance to reconnect with your true purpose.
Scorpio
Prepare to let your guard down, Scorpio. While it's not always easy for you to embrace your vulnerability, doing so this week could help endear you to others, encourage you to build greater trust in your relationships and even highlight areas where you might need some assistance. Watch how accepting a little support can allow your dreams to flourish. This could also be an ideal time to review your finances and check in on any outstanding debts or investments that you have. You're sure to feel much more empowered once you gain a little more clarity over your resources.
Sagittarius
Are you ready to commit, Sagittarius? At the beginning of this week, you're invited to take a step back to assess how much capacity you actually have for your romantic, professional and creative partnerships. If you're single, this could be a good time to reflect on who you really want to spend your time with moving forward. Meanwhile, attached archers may find that this process challenges them to consider what steps they can take to elevate their connections. No matter your romantic status, this could be a brilliant moment to ask yourself what you bring to your various relationships and what you can do to ensure their success.
Capricorn
Balance is key, Capricorn. And at the beginning of the week, you may feel particularly eager to reset the scales when it comes to your schedule. Take this as an opportunity to step back, acknowledge where you've been placing your energy lately and set an intention to restore harmony in your routines. Spending a little extra time caring for yourself will likely inspire you to show more compassion for the people around you. Just try to avoid spreading yourself too thin and be honest with your loved ones and family about what kinds of commitments you're prepared to take on moving forward.
Aquarius
Gather your energy, Aquarius. At the start of this week, your artistic side could come out to play, urging you to channel your creativity in new and exciting directions. Enjoy bringing an ethereal touch to everything you do in this moment. You may even be surprised at what begins to flow out of you once you get going. Keep in mind that your aura could also be particularly intoxicating to others during this period. Flirting will get you everywhere, so remember your goals when exercising your charms on the unwitting public. You're sure to win some excellent favours if you're smart about what you ask for.
Pisces
Ready to take a break from the outside world, Pisces? At the beginning of the week, you may notice that nothing seems to capture your attention quite like your own space, and find that you get a real sense of joy in adding beauty to your surroundings. This is a beautiful time to collect inspiration and create a vision board that'll help you manifest your true vision for your home. Allow yourself to dream big as you brainstorm how you can feature colours that uplift you, textures that tantalize your senses and objects that bring back warm memories. If you can start chipping away at these changes now, in six months, you're bound to see a space transformed.

Billy Joel documentary reveals he attempted suicide twice and was in a coma after affair with friend's wife

Warning: This article contains mentions of suicidal ideation. Discretion advised. Billy Joel at one point wanted to 'end it all,' according to the documentary 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes.' The new film, which premiered at Tribeca Festival in New York City this week, revisits the some of the singer's struggles, including two suicide attempts following an affair with his bandmate's wife, according to People. The first part of the documentary told the story of the Joel being in the band Attila with his best friend Jon Small, whom Joel eventually went to live with in a home occupied by Small, his wife Elizabeth Weber and their son. Weber reportedly said in the film that there was a 'slow burn' between her and Joel. Joel said he 'felt very, very guilty' about their resulting affair, which ended in a fight and the band splitting after he confessed to Small that he was in love with Weber. 'They had a child. I felt like a homewrecker,' Joel told the filmmakers. 'I was just in love with a woman and I got punched in the nose, which I deserved. Jon was very upset. I was very upset.' Weber left and Joel said he spiraled into drinking, became homeless and was 'depressed I think to the point of almost being psychotic,' he recalled. 'I figured, 'That's it. I don't want to live anymore.' I was just in a lot of pain and it was sort of like why hang out, tomorrow is going to be just like today is and today sucks,' he said. 'So, I just thought I'd end it all.' His sister, Judy Molinari, was a medical assistant at the time and gave him sleeping pills, which Joel took all of and ended up in the hospital in a coma for days. 'I went to go see him in the hospital, and he was laying there white as a sheet,' she said in the film. 'I thought that I'd killed him.' He drank a bottle of cleaning fluid the second suicide attempt, Joel said, and ironically it was Small who took him to the hospital. 'Even though our friendship was blowing up, Jon saved my life,' Joel said. He sought help, which Joel said helped him channel his emotions into his music that has brought him success. Years later, Joel and Weber reconnected and married from 1973 to 1982. She still has admiration for him and has been supportive as the superstar musician recently cancelled tour dates to seek treatment for normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition that affects the brain. 'He's worked so hard all of his life,' she told E! News at the premiere. 'I've never known anybody who worked harder than he did in all those years we were together and working together.' 'Billy Joel: And So It Goes' is set to air on HBO in July. By Lisa Respers France, CNN If you or someone you know is in crisis, here are some resources that are available: If you need immediate assistance call 911 or go to the nearest hospital.

Jury deliberations resume in Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial

Harvey Weinstein appears for his retrial at a Manhattan court, Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in New York. (AP Photo/Pamela Smith, Pool) NEW YORK -- A Manhattan jury resumed deliberations Friday in Harvey Weinstein's sex crimes retrial after ending its first day without reaching a verdict in a case that encapsulated the #MeToo movement. The panel, which was handed the case Thursday morning, has requested to hear a readback of some testimony from two of Weinstein's accusers, as well as to see medical records from one of those women. The jury of seven women and five men is considering two counts of criminal sex act and one count of rape against the 73-year-old Oscar-winning movie producer, with the criminal sex act charges the higher-degree felonies. Weinstein has pleaded not guilty. Sexual misconduct allegations against Weinstein propelled the #MeToo movement in 2017. He was eventually convicted of sex crimes in New York and California, but the New York conviction was overturned last year, leading to the retrial before a new jury and a different judge. Jurors heard more than five weeks of testimony, including lengthy testimony from three accusers.
