The vacancies will be featured at the Cyberport Career Fair, which takes place on Friday and Saturday. More than 580 organisations will attend, including start-ups, tech companies, government departments and firms like Hang Seng Bank and Centaline Property.
About 70 per cent of recruiters would be looking to hire AI professionals, and nearly 60 per cent of the positions would be related to AI applications, said Ricky Choi, the smart-living director at Cyberport.
'In the past, everyone might have thought that Hong Kong was primarily focused on finance,' Choi said. 'Gradually, we've noticed a slight shift in this sector, especially this year, with 67 per cent [of employers] coming from the smart-living industry.'
Smart living includes environmental, retail, health, robotics, Internet of Things and education technologies, he said.

Notably, the education technology sector accounts for 29 per cent of the job openings, representing the largest share across industries, Choi said.
The demand for AI talent in Hong Kong remains substantial as the industry booms. One in three professionals in Hong Kong was considering switching to AI-related careers, according to digital job platform TechJobAsia.

DAB calls for smart technology at more housing estates

DAB calls for smart technology at more housing estates The DAB say almost all residents they surveyed in Sham Shui Po would like to see smart estate management expanded to more public housing estates. Photo: RTHK The DAB on Tuesday urged the government and Housing Authority to continue rolling out smart estate management at public housing estates in Sham Shui Po, to improve the well-being of residents. Smart estate management, which has already been implemented in the district's Hoi Ying Estate, includes using technology such as Internet of Things, artificial intelligence and robots to deal with matters such as the maintenance of public facilities and strengthening hygiene and cleanliness. DAB legislators and district councillors said almost all residents they surveyed in Sham Shui Po would like to see the system expanded to other estates. '[Hoi Ying Estate] residents usually complain that there's a lot of illegal parking blocking the road. Now they have these sensors to make sure, if the people illegally park, they will quickly notice,' said lawmaker Vincent Cheng. Cheng said he believed smart technology can be used to resolve problems that affect residents and urged the government to make more use of it to manage public housing estates.

‘Illogical': Hongkongers wonder why man chose to rob bank near his home

A man suspected of robbing a Hong Kong bank with a knife and injuring a staff member could be charged as soon as Wednesday night, the Post has learned, with his move to hold up the establishment located in his neighbourhood sparking a heated online discussion. Advertisement The jobless man, 49, was handed over to Hong Kong police on Tuesday after he was detained in Shenzhen for allegedly robbing a branch of Hang Seng Bank in Sha Tin the day before. His girlfriend, 34, was also arrested on suspicion of aiding his escape after making off with HK$382,000 (US$48,700). A source said on Wednesday the force aimed to lay a charge of robbery against the man, adding that the woman was still being questioned. 'They were only arrested last night, so they are still giving statements. Police need more time to investigate. But the force is leaning towards laying a holding charge against the man,' the insider said. The man allegedly entered the bank at the Fortune City One shopping centre on Ngan Shing Street alone on Monday afternoon. At around 5pm, he allegedly took a butcher knife measuring 30cm (11.8 inches) out of a paper bag and held the weapon to a female employee's neck. Advertisement The Cantonese-speaking man then allegedly forced her to take money from a counter, about HK$382,000 in various currencies, before putting the knife and money into the paper bag and fleeing. He was believed to have fled to his flat in City One, a private estate in Sha Tin, after the robbery. A source said earlier that members of the elite police tactical unit, the Flying Tigers, were searching for the man at block 50 of City One.
