Liu Yuning denies starring in "The Island of Siliang"
18 Jun - Liu Yuning is quick when it comes to responding to rumours about his casting, including the most recent one, when rumours circulated that he will play a big role in the upcoming series, "The Island of Siliang".
On 14 June, amid the heated debate about his participation in the project, the actor posted a Polaroid picture of himself on Weibo and wrote, "I have never received a script. Haha."
The response seemed to confirm Liu's previous stance on not letting his name be used by "slippers" to gain publicity for their project. The term refers to production crews that will "slip" false information about casting in order to drum up support for their actual lead actors.
The actor once revealed in a livestream with fans that he has been a victim of production crews multiple times.
"Some production crew member will announce that I will play the role, wait for the haters to slam me, and finally announce someone else in the role by saying that they have found a "more suitable candidate," he said.
The same thing had happened to him multiple times, including for the drama "Ya She" in 2023 and "The World of Flowers" in 2025, the latter that had caused unnecessary fan war between his fans and lead actress Ju Jingyi's fans.

Select Samsung Smart TVs and monitors are getting a free new app starting today: GameBreaks. It's a new gaming app which will feature an array of original titles that will be expanded over time. The app is launching with a brand new puzzle game today called Ripplash. GameBreaks is the next step in an ongoing gaming push for Samsung. In 2022, the company rolled out a Samsung Gaming Hub app to select TVs that pulled together cloud streaming services like GeForce Now. It has built on that strategy over the past three years, adding Xbox Game Pass to the mix, creating its own controller, and launching original games in the form of The Six and Rivals Arena. Recommended Videos GameBreaks takes that push one step further by giving Samsung TVs its own original game hub that's not so dissimilar from the New York Times' daily puzzle model. The feature is rolling out on Samsung Smart TVs and monitors, from 2022 models onwards, starting today. Samsung's Global Head of Product for Gaming and Emerging Technologies Kevin Beatty tells Digital Trends that the goal of the app is to deliver easy to play, social experiences to Samsung TV owners. 'We feel now is the right time to broaden the horizons and create approachable gameplay experiences for everyone,' Beatty tells Digital Trends. 'It is gaming for all, directly on their Samsung Smart TV, using just a remote or smartphone as a controller. It is also about bringing people back to the TV to share experiences. Samsung is making games an integral part of the living room. While Samsung GameBreaks can be enjoyed solo, we are focused on making sure they encourage playing together, because we know how powerful shared moments can be. Samsung wants to ensure its Smart TVs offer more opportunities to build those core memories with friends and family.' The first new game to join the app, alongside existing quiz game The Six, is Ripplash. It's a visual puzzle game in which players identify a ripped up image and unscramble letters. The app will add three new puzzles each day and can be played with either a Samsung TV remote or a smartphone. More games are set to arrive later this year, though they don't have exact release dates quite yet. Pop Off twists Mad Libs into a trivia game, Finish Line has players filling in blanks to complete iconic phrases, and Eye-Q is a memory game where players watch a short video and then are asked questions about it. Those games are largely being developed internally at Samsung, Beatty says. 'At Samsung, our approach to game development is truly a collaborative effort,' Beatty says. 'We have a talented internal team with deep roots in the gaming industry, spanning from AAA console games to casual experiences. We also partner with some of the best external studios and developers to bring fresh perspectives, ideas, and expertise to our portfolio approach to these games.' Samsung will continue to support its Gaming Hub as it builds out GameBreaks. Beatty calls Samsung's approach 'experimental,' as it dreams up different ways it can connect to the broader gaming landscape outside of its apps. He points to a recent collaboration with Activision on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 as an example and notes that Samsung sees potential in tapping into more popular IP. 'Just like Samsung Gaming Hub continues to evolve, Samsung GameBreaks will also grow over time, offering more unique experiences for players,' Beatty says. 'Beyond adding more games over time, we see a big opportunity in how our partners can integrate into these experiences. For example, Samsung partnered with Xbox for the most recent Call of Duty launch to feature themed questions in The Six, our fast-paced daily trivia game where players race to answer six questions correctly. Custom trivia tied to big cultural moments like this is fun, but it's really just scratching the surface of where we think the future can go.' GameBreaks is available on 2022 to 2025 Samsung Smart TVs and monitors starting today.

Based on the ongoing manga of the same name by Mizuho Kusanagi, the story follows the crimson-haired princess of the Kouka kingdom. Her life changes when her cousin, Su-Won, assassinates her father. Yona and her childhood friend-turned-bodyguard, Hak, flee the grounds and manage to escape to safety. But the princess has always lived a sheltered and privileged life. Reckoning with her dire circumstances pushes Yona to accept that she must advocate for herself and others to restore balance to the kingdom. This means saying goodbye to her father's strict 'no weapons' rule (and her long hair) when Hak nearly loses his life protecting her from Su-Won's assassins. For the first time ever, Princess Yona picks up a sword and vows to become self-sufficient. In line with the prophecy given to Yona by the oracle Ik-Soo, she and Hak embark on a journey alongside Yoon, the oracle's caretaker, to recruit the fabled Dragon Warriors — Kija, Sinha, Jae-Ha and Zeno. She also makes it her personal mission to become a pro with a bow. Yona spends many a late night practicing while her friends rest. She departs from Hiryuu Castle with little to no understanding of the world beyond its walls, but she quickly accepts the reality of the Kouka kingdom and the consequences of her father's rule. In journeying from one town to the next, she and the rest of the bunch aim to leave each destination and the people they meet better off than they found them. Of course, this also leads Yona into trouble. In Yona of the Dawn's final arc, she and her friends join forces with the pirates of Awa to take down Yang Kum-Ji, the ruthless leader of the human slave trade. To get the job done, Yona and Yoon infiltrate the operation by posing as poor, young women. They put their lives at risk to take down the trade from within and free many abducted women. In the heat of an all-out brawl between the pirates and Kum-Ji's men, it's the princess's arrow that finally ends the trafficker's reign. Why She Matters Why does Yona matter? Despite a budding romance between the princess and Hak, the importance of Yona's role in Kouka's restoration is never lost on her (or us, the viewers and readers). In this way, the series and its protagonist subvert the expectations of shojo fans by arming the princess with a bow and seeing her pursue goals far beyond romantic love. Ironically enough, the two model a relationship dynamic that's just as important for Yona of the Dawn's younger audiences to take away as themes of redefining leadership and power. Yona shows us what it means to lead with love, for yourself and others. She teaches us to advocate for ourselves and for those who can't, to search endlessly for our inner strength and to never stop using that power for good. So, be like Yona. Don't let preconceived notions about yourself or your circumstances stop you from becoming who you're meant to be. Redefine what it means to be you . Most importantly, don't turn away when life challenges your perspective. Oftentimes, we can see the world through a new set of eyes when we face challenges head-on. And when we can recognize that a system is broken, we can do our part to repair it. The first season of Yona of the Dawn is currently streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
