The resuscitated FIFA Club World Cup will not have a big name missing from the list of teams participating.
Liverpool, which is the current Premier League champion, will not be taking part in the 32-team tournament that will get underway in the United States of America on June 15.
Why is Liverpool not playing in the Club World Cup?
The expanded format for the 2025 FIFA World Cup could not accommodate Premier League champion Liverpool to represent England due to the two-team-per-nation rule.

From England, Chelsea and Manchester City have qualified after winning the Champions League title in the 2020-21 and 2022-23 seasons, respectively.
Even though Liverpool is ranked higher than Chelsea by UEFA, Arne Slot's men could have played in the 2025 Club World Cup if they had beaten Real Madrid in the 2022 Champions League when Jurgen Klopp was managing the Merseyside team.
The Reds will head over for their pre-season tour of Asia, while their next opportunity to be part of the Club World Cup will be in 2029.
