Ruby Ru by Iris in Dubai
Picture this. It's a sunny afternoon in Paris and you're sat in curved rattan chair, sipping from an ice-cold glass and looking out over the bustling Rue d'something or other.
Now, swap out the cobbled street for the rippling waters of Dubai Creek, and you have yourself an evening at Ruby Ru by Iris.
Created by the team behind the popular open-air lounge at Meydan Racecourse, Ruby Ru was designed with conversation in mind (no shouting over booming speakers here). And it's nailed the concept down to the very last detail.
Found inside the Marriott Marquis, Jewel of the Creek, you walk through a glamorous walkway of billowing white fabric (an ideal spot for the 'gram) before emerging onto a terrace that stretches around the back of the building.

Designed with a French street-side bar in mind, the venue presents as a glamourous Dubai terrace dusted with subtle nods to Paris. From the marble bistro tables with blue and cream chairs to the well-stocked grape selection, it's full of laid-back charm.
It's a stunning place to park yourself for sunset, with 180-degree views of both old and new Dubai that are sure to impress.
A live DJ keeps the vibe up from a mirrored booth in the corner, but this place has so much more than just good music.
There's a wide selection of beverages on offer, including a list of signature mixed drinks starting from around Dhs80. If you want the most bang for your buck, don't miss Ruby's daily happy hour, offering grape, classic mixed drinks and even a glass of sparkling (or two) for almost half the price.

Grab a stool at the bar on the softly lit back wall, or opt for a cream-cushioned sofa under the parasails if you're looking for an extra dash of comfort.
The venue has its own restaurant with a full-blown menu, so expect bar bites to be top-tier. Order the rock shrimp or baked feta, both of which are perfect sides to your skyline sips.
Open until the wee hours, Ruby Ru wears a few different hats. Whether you visit for an effortless sundowner or prefer to soak up late-night vibes, it hits all the high notes every time.
Pairing Parisian charm with a cityscape that is always dressed to impress, your post-work aperitif just got better.

Royal Ascot backs next generation of hat-makers from King's charity
Ahead of this month's world-famous meet, known as much for its colourful and creative displays of headwear as the horseracing, Ascot has introduced a £10,000 annual bursary to support a King's Foundation and Chanel graduating millinery student. Daniel McAuliffe, education director at The King's Foundation said: 'The royal family are incredible ambassadors for the craft of millinery and as the King's charity we are proud to be supporting the future of this skill at the most iconic hat-wearing event of the year.' The Foundation's students will also be showcasing their hats at this year's Royal Ascot, which runs from June 17-21, with a special display for racegoers in the Queen Anne Enclosure on the Berkshire course. The Chanel and The King's Foundation Metiers d'Art Millinery Fellowship in Partnership with le19M, Chanel's creative hub for artisans in Paris, was launched in 2024 with a cohort of six students. The intensive programme aims to develop a network of young specialist milliners in the UK, with the support of Parisian hat-maker Maison Michel at le19M. It forms part of The King's Foundation's wider work, inspired by Charles's passion for protecting traditional heritage skills at risk of being lost. Future students joining the millinery course will also be tasked with designing a Royal Ascot-inspired hat, with one selected to feature in the Royal Ascot Millinery Collective from 2026 onwards as its 11th design. The collective, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, is an annual presentation of 10 bespoke designs created exclusively for Royal Ascot under the creative direction of British fashion designer Daniel Fletcher. Mr McAuliffe added: 'This is such a fantastic opportunity for our talented millinery students as they begin to build their businesses. 'We are delighted to be working with Ascot and our long-term partners Chanel and le19M to recognise the importance of the British tradition of millinery.' Felicity Barnard, Ascot Racecourse's chief executive, said: 'Exquisite hats and millinery masterpieces are woven into the very fabric of Royal Ascot's heritage and we are committed to preserving and celebrating this tradition for generations to come.'

Read on for a whole range of recommendations for 7-8 June, handpicked as always by The Slice. The Slice is your weekly guide to what's happening in London, so if you're looking for restaurant reviews, drinks deals or just a great new exhibition to visit on a rainy Saturday in the capital, we've got you covered. Click here for this week's edit of the best things to do in town. The Slice newsletter also a brand new look! If you want to do it all on the cheap, you can also find our latest batch of exclusive hand-picked offers in partnership with Time Out here. If you're looking for something to do this weekend, here are TK of the best activities, dining, and drinking spots in the capital. By Sophie Laughton Thanks to OMA and co., 'chic Greek' is having a moment in London. Headed by Michelin-starred chef Asimakis Chaniotis, Myrtos is the latest on the scene, settling into a posh spot in South Ken with stunning Aegean blue decor and classy clientele. For even more prestige, they've teamed up with renowned Athenian bar Line, No 6 on the World's Best Bars list, just behind London's legendary Tayer + Elementary. We like the floral Orange Blossom Collins and Myrtos' signature Negroni, made earthy and complex with toasted fennel seed and goat butter. A lovely parade of dishes (ask for them in stages – we couldn't keep up) starts with bread and excellent dips. Small plates include quality bluefin tuna, a squid skewer in jet-black sauce, and rustic Briam, a skillet of grilled Mediterranean veggies which has a similar effect to that dish from Ratatouille. For mains, the lobster giouvetsi is a buttery, seafood-soaked standout. Dessert? The loukoumades – sweet fried cinnamon puffs – are delicious but keep leaping out of the bowl. Our pick: ultra-rich chocolate mousse – the haute-cuisine version of eating Dairy Milk with a spoon. Small plates from £12, sharing mains from £28. 260-262 Brompton Rd, South Kensington, SW3 2AS. Book here. The humble lobster roll is a simple dish, but that doesn't mean it's easy to get right. Paris-based Homer Lobster hopped onto the Eurostar to grace us Londoners with a taste of their famous lobster rolls. Homer Lobster is cool (like so many things that come from Paris), and isn't scared to introduce playful creations. Their newest, most decadent invention is the £19 Truffle x Homer Surf n Turf Patty Melt, made with Truffle's aged beef burger and sauce, strong cheddar and raclette cheese, meaty lobster claw, and toasted brioche. It's basically a whole dinner between two slices of bread. It's not all perfect: we'd love some more of their famous burger sauce and some parts were more bread than filling. If you do want to get your hands on it, be quick. Homer Lobster is only here until 15 June, and the Patty Melt is limited to just 20 a day. Once it's gone it's gone! Truffle burger & homer patty melt, £19. Classic lobster roll, £15.50. Connecticut lobster roll, £16. South Bank, Belvedere Rd, 45 Berwick St, SE1 8XX. Just turn up! Best for: delightful comfort food Father-daughter duo Chantel and Joe serve freshly made dumplings from their 1992 fire engine. They specialise in mouth-watering Chinese dumplings and drive around catering at events, festivals and pop-ups. Their 'chubby box' is six dumplings served with noodles and Asian pickles, topped with crispy fried shallots, spring onions, coriander and sesame seeds. Keep an eye on their Instagram to find out where they'll be next. Chubby box, £9. Brockley Market on Saturdays and Victoria Park on Sundays. See what else they're up to here. Best for: a cheap but tasty lunch If you're looking for delicious pizza on a budget and in a hurry, this is the place. The bright blue van serves up a traditional Neapolitan street food: Pizza A Portafoglio, a folded delicacy also known as 'wallet pizza'. Top tip: Don't ask to add pineapple or chicken on top. Pizza a portafoglio, £5. Larger pizzas from £9. Old Spitalfields Market, 16 Horner Square. Best for: your new working from home treat? Clapham locals will want to hear this one. Just when we thought we'd found the very best sandwiches in the capital, in comes Outside by Trinity, a food truck taking over Trinity's restaurant's terrace. The options sound (and look) real tasty – like the red curry prawn sandwich with coconut curry prawns, smashed cucumber and coleslaw. So could it become one of our new favourites? Look out for a full review from The Slice soon. Sandwiches from £9.95. 4 The Polygon, Clapham. Find out more here. Too Many Critics is back, and you're invited. Food critics become chefs for the night cooking a 5-course dinner at Canary Wharf's Roe to raise money for Action Against Hunger. Look forward to tasty dishes like the Spiced lamb skewer with smoked onion yoghurt and hot honey. 16 June, get your ticket here. Black Sheep Coffee has a bold new drinks range for summer, from Lavender Matcha Lemonade, to Lychee Matcha Lemonade, and Peaches & Cream Matcha Latte. The matcha is slightly overpowered by the lemonade in some drinks, but subtle enough to be enjoyed by matcha devotees and beginners alike. And it's so refreshing. There are even optional boosters like CBD or gut health supplements to level up your drink. An yes, fan-favourite Norwegian Matcha Waffles are also back, best enjoyed with whipped cream, Nutella, or fresh fruit. Drinks from £2.79, food from £1.29. Various locations, just walk in! To celebrate National Fish and Chips day on 6 June, the Nothin' Fishy pop-up van will roll into Camden High Street to dish out FREE fish 'n' chip butties with help from football legend Chris Kamara. To celebrate Pride, Shake Shack has launched the Pride Shake, featuring vanilla frozen custard, crushed shortbread, rainbow sprinkles, topped with a swirl of whipped cream and strawberry glaze.
