Bristol abandoned 'Harry Potter' puppies searching for new homes
Five puppies are searching for temporary homes after being tied up and 'abandoned' on a cycle path. The dogs, all thought to be around five months old and from the same litter, were brought into an animal rescue centre in Bristol in two separate incidents.Their carers say the dogs were all in "poor condition" and that their arrival was part of a "growing pet abandonment issue" in the city. The puppies named Harry, Potter, Ron, Fred, and George after Harry Potter characters now need to find foster homes so that they can "build confidence."
Happening 'too much'
The first puppy was brought to the Bristol Animal Rescue Centre after being offered for 'free' in a local pub.The remaining four were discovered tied together with rope on the Lawrence Hill cycle path before being brought in. Jodie Hayward from the centre said it was "really hard" to see the puppies arrive in the way they did."They just needed to have been cared for properly. There is too much of this happening", she added.
The centre said their "heart breaking" arrival has put "immense pressure" on their resources. All five of them came in "underweight" and "in poor condition". They also said one of the puppies will need surgery on a "cherry eye condition," where the eye lid prolapses and swells.
All five puppies now need to find foster homes before they can be permanently rehomed. Foster Coordinator Kayleigh Jefferies said getting them "out of kennels" and into foster homes will help them "prepare for their forever families.""We are particularly looking for experienced foster carers who are comfortable with all that puppies bring to a household", she added. The centre said anyone interested in fostering a puppy should go to their website.

King Charles and Prince William send 'clear message' to Harry in key move
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info A royal commentator has suggested that King Charles delivered a pointed message to Prince Harry with a significant gesture. The entire working Royal Family gathered alongside the King on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the climax of this year's Trooping the Colour, which is the monarch's official birthday parade. The event saw the royals present a united front as they greeted the public and marvelled at the impressive RAF flypast. This display of unity comes shortly after Prince Harry, who was absent from the gathering, made claims in an explosive interview that his father, currently receiving cancer treatment, had ceased communication with him and expressed uncertainty about how much time his father had left. During the balcony scene, the King positioned himself centrally among his kin, with his firstborn and successor, Prince William, stationed right beside him. In the previous year, the Princess of Wales was adjacent to the King, marking her first public outing post-cancer diagnosis. However, this year's rearrangement, with William by the King's side, is seen by body language expert Judi James as a direct signal to Harry, who is now based in California. Speaking to the Express, she remarked: "Charles tends to pick out the most important people in his life at that time to pay attention to during a balcony appearance. "Kate has often been the object of his attention, but to chat to William suggested a new era of warmth and compatibility between the two men," reports the Mirror. "William's pose resembled the pose he would adopt when talking to his grandmother too. With his hands clasped in front of his torso, he signalled a sense of respect to his father and to the crown. As a message to Harry, Charles, and William would have signalled unity and a united purpose." Former BBC Royal correspondent Jennie Bond also picked up on the nuanced change on the balcony, telling the Mirror: "I think the fact that William stood next to his father on the balcony was a signal that things are returning to normal. "Last year was an exception, with the Princess of Wales taking on her first public duty since her cancer diagnosis, and I think the King was showing his special support for her by asking her to stand alongside him. But today it was the correct order and, in a way, that was quite reassuring." At this year's event, there was another notable alteration as Kate took her place beside the King and Queen on the dais during the military parade at Horse Guards Parade, reflecting her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. This marked a significant moment for Kate, who last year was unable to assume this position due to undergoing treatment for cancer, instead joining her children to observe the ceremony. Jennie commented further: "I also thought it was highly significant to see Catherine on the dais alongside the King and Queen. She was there not only as a very senior member of the Royal Family but as Colonel in Chief of the Irish Guards as they marched by. "It was a very powerful image of our next Queen alongside her father-in-law who has made no secret of the respect he has for Catherine, especially after the cancer journey they have shared. It certainly gave you the feeling that royal life is pretty much back on track after the scary past 18 months."

King Charles 'makes feelings clear in Prince Harry feud' with one symbolic move
King Charles led the Royal Family on the Buckingham Palace balcony during Trooping the Colour celebrations - and one move sent estranged son Prince Harry a huge message, according to an expert A royal expert believes that Prince Harry was sent a clear message from his estranged father King Charles thanks to one key move. The whole of the working Royal Family joined the King on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the grand finale of this year's Trooping the Colour. The event, which is the sovereign's official birthday parade, saw the Firm put on a united front as they waved to the crowds and enjoyed the spectacular RAF flypast. This year's event comes just weeks after Harry, who did not join his royal relatives, claimed his father, who is still undergoing cancer treatment, was not speaking to him and said he did not know how long his dad 'had left' in a bombshell interview. When the royals assembled on the balcony, the King took his spot in the middle of his family, with eldest son and heir to the throne Prince William, immediately next to him. Last year, the Princess of Wales stood next to the King as the event marked her first public appearance since her cancer diagnosis. But with the switch of places this year, body language expert Judi James says it sent a message directly to Harry in California. She told the Express: "Charles tends to pick out the most important people in his life at that time to pay attention to during a balcony appearance. "Kate has often been the object of his attention, but to chat to William suggested a new era of warmth and compatibility between the two men. "William's pose resembled the pose he would adopt when talking to his grandmother too. With his hands clasped in front of his torso, he signalled a sense of respect to his father and to the crown. As a message to Harry, Charles, and William would have signalled unity and a united purpose." It comes as former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond also noticed the subtle balcony change. And she told the Mirror: "I think the fact that William stood next to his father on the balcony was a signal that things are returning to normal. "Last year was an exception, with the Princess of Wales taking on her first public duty since her cancer diagnosis, and I think the King was showing his special support for her by asking her to stand alongside him. But today it was the correct order and, in a way, that was quite reassuring." In another change to the 2024 event, Kate also took her place next to the King and Queen on the dais during the military parade at Horse Guards Parade, in her role as Colonel of the Irish Guards. It's a symbolic position for Kate, and one she was unable to take up last year because she was receiving cancer treatment. Instead she watched the ceremony with her children. Jennie added: "I also thought it was highly significant to see Catherine on the dais alongside the King and Queen. She was there not only as a very senior member of the Royal Family but as Colonel in Chief of the Irish Guards as they marched by. "It was a very powerful image of our next Queen alongside her father-in-law who has made no secret of the respect he has for Catherine, especially after the cancer journey they have shared. The Duke of Sussex said it was a "profound privilege" to deliver the message on the "sacred day". He continued: "My last visit to your remarkable country was to Düsseldorf two years ago for the Invictus Games, and it remains etched in my memory. "The warmth, the enthusiasm, and the unwavering support shown by the German people for our global community of wounded service personnel was truly humbling. You certainly delivered on your promise to create a home for respect. "That spirit of camaraderie, forged on the sports field, mirrors the unbreakable bond that connects veterans of all nations. We understand each other, regardless of flag or uniform, bound by shared experiences and an enduring commitment to service. "Veterans are more than warriors—they are leaders. Living testaments to resilience and moral courage, they understand that loyalty must never lie with power alone, but with the people. With truth." During the video, Harry wore numerous ceremonial medals that he was awarded in the past. This included the Afghan campaign medal, golden jubilee medal, diamond jubilee medal and platinum jubilee medal. Harry continued in his speech: "As someone who has worn the uniform and stood shoulder to shoulder with brothers-and sisters-in-arms from across the world - including many of you - I know that the weight of service is not carried lightly. "We serve not to glorify war, but to protect peace. Not to follow a single voice, but to uphold a collective oath—to country, to people, and to the principles that bind us together as free nations. "Germany has shown the world how memory, accountability, and unity can be turned into strength. In these turbulent times, your role in safeguarding peace and stability in Europe has never been more critical. "To the brave men and women of the Bundeswehr - a heartfelt thank you for your steadfast service to your country, to your people and to one another. Today is also a celebration of you, the values you stand for, the oath you took and the great country you stand to protect. "Today, let us renew our commitment—together—to protect the freedoms that define who we are, to serve each other for peace, for dignity and for the enduring promise of democracy. "Vielen dank und einen schonen tag." It comes just 24 hours after the Royals all came out in formal attire for Trooping the Colour. Wills wore the Full Ceremonial Guard Order of the Welsh Guards yesterday during the parade. Prince William saluted while on horseback, alongside Princess Anne and the Duke of Edinburgh. Kate, meanwhile, looked elegant in an aquamarine Catherine Walker coatdress with ivory lapels and cuffs. Both King Charles and Prince William were spotted wearing a black armband as they made their way down The Mall. Those at the parade also held a minute's silence following the devastating crash.
